Great explanation of how the solenoid on the carb works. Thanks for the video, I'm just starting to repair an MTD that had pulley failure on the mower deck then it sat up for years. Still working through the electrics to get the engine running and then onto the mower deck repairs. Unfortunately the deck is partially disassembled. Parts are in a bucket.
My tractor! Lots of work as well! Put a new intek 11.5 in there! $550 Adjusted the speed and other stuff! Flies in 7th! Got speed test on the road. Agway 2125. Best from CT
Engine swap cost this customer $270 Cdn in parts which included the battery. If your buying a used riding mower you are taking chances big time if you cannot see it run ie: engine runs, transaxle works in all gears and deck is operational. When finished this Frankenstein came to life.
Thanks for the video!! This deck must be rare or something lol... this is the only video i found that is the same as what i got. Having a hell of a time trying to get t out. Now I know what to do, thanks to you. 👍🍺
Hello From Kentucky. For the life of me, I don’t understand why MTD had to make everything on the mower deck so complicated to hook up compared to like the vintage Cub Cadets and or the John Deere mower decks. I like simple compared to complicated any time.
@@EliminatorPerformance I have a 2000 MTD YardMachines garden tractor with a 21hp Briggs & Stratton Intek engine with the 46 inch cut mower deck. The mower deck adjusters are the ones that have the nut located within the bracket and around midway up the adjuster itself and are on the left side of the mower deck with the straight slotted deck hangers being on the right side of the mower deck from what I could tell. I didn’t really pay that much attention to the level of the mower deck mowing my property which I usually just mow at the highest level. But since I have been mowing at where my mother & sister lives in town where I mow at a lower level, I do experience the ridging especially mowing in reverse. I always make sure that my tires are equally inflated and I am really adamant about the sharpness of my mower blades. One positive thing that I like in using the MTD is due to the sharp radius with the steering due to the weird angles of the chain link fences that I have to navigate. There’s a lot of pulling up and backwards motion while mowing with not all of that much straightforward mowing. Normally I would probably use my 165 John Deere hydro tractor with the 38 inch mower deck, But I have the mower deck removed for some maintenance and to free up the pivot for the double stack pulley. My 682 Cub Cadet does a great job mowing, But the older Cubs did not steer very sharply as you are probably well aware - And it weighs quite a bit which again leads me into using the MTD. From all of the videos here on RUclips, I haven’t really seen the exact configuration like my MTD with the 46 inch mower deck has. My tractor has the lever on the dash console where the PTO is engaged with the lever on the right just being utilized for the height adjustment rather than both PTO engagement and deck height adjustment combined. You Know, I have worked around lawn equipment for quite a while now as well as my almost 32 years within the equipment section of the highway department here in KY and I have never really seen anything else that compares with how MTD designed their products. Maybe I will attempt to reach out to MTD in an attempt to get the appropriate manuals for my tractor. I could make a rather humorous video regarding this tractor and how I actually wound up with this tractor and the things that I found. The old mower blades were sharpened like kitchen knives rather than mower blades for maybe a bit of a preview(LOL).
A friend of mine is giving me one that he took the deck out from under an he tried to make his own go-kart, but the belts are rotting and the carb leaks gas like there's no tommorow. And he is 100% done trying to get her working right. It has a 4 speed rear with a 22.5 hp briggs and stratton engine and the engine has 2 cylinders from wut he says. But I've got a neighbor friend whom has a 3 banger Suzuki forklift engine that runs but idles high, if ya lower the idle eny it shuts off immediately. He told me if I can get this gokart MTD, he will trade me the 3 banger fer whatever engine is on the MTD.
Jerome Cook Yes, fuel comes through the needle valve and fills the bowl. But once it comes through the needle valve it must pass through the main to get into the engine. The antiback fire plunger normally closes this, but if it's in the open position the fuel can get into the cylinder and down into the bottom end. Both were faulty and were replaced!
just watched this video I have to say I'm so impressed on what a amazing video it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! great job guys I subscribed!!!!!!!!
I have a gas powered pressure washer. And lately it been able to build pressure up. But then 2 minutes later it loses all pressure for about 30-45 seconds and then it builds back up and works normally
@@kylegilligan1827 nothing to do with engine, it's the valve with the spring on the pump, sometimes they stick and will cause that issue. Obviously without seeing it I cant be sure, but that's what it sounds like, especially if the engine runs good.
If the engine shuts off when you engage the PTO you have an electrical issue. It's killing the spark to the engine because it things it's either in reverse or you're off the seat. I would start by checking seat switch 1st.
Hi would just like to ask you on that deck I have the same deck on my tractor theres two Springs that go to the deck one goes to like a brake assembly with a longer skinny spring that really wasn't too bad to stretch a hook on it doesn't seem to do much from what I can tell there's some kind of brake pad on it to the pulley on the deck and then I put a new belt go on from that top double spindle to the motor and when I go to let down deck to mow it doesn't want to engage as good as it used to it used to, it used to go right away now it doesn't seem to want to there was a heavy duty spring also that went from double pulley is a bracket there and on the bottom part of the bracket it hooks on the lower hole and then hooks on an all way back to the rear axle where there's like a bracket to flip it to but it's so hard to pull it I couldn't get it back on and I don't know if that spring is to keep more tension on the back part of the mower deck so that that drive belt seems a little tighter then or I'm not sure maybe you can give me some insight on that I would really appreciate it thank you Glen from WI.
Go to www.ereplacementparts.com or www.jackssmallengines.com and type in your model number, you should be able to find a diagram that will show you what the springs are, and how they connect. It's been a while since I worked on this machine, unfortunately I don't remember much from that particular mower deck. I wish I could be of more help, but it's hard for me to diagnose things, unless it's directly in front of me!
You should show everything you do, even if it is in 10 parts if you want more views. My friends all agree with me. We are trying to learn how to work on small engines

Great video and just subscribed, question, I heard you mention a sonic cleaner, I've been asking quite a few other you tube people, what kind of mix do you use in it?
Got the same MTD thanks for the video. I subscribed and gave you a like. Could you do on on changing the transmission belt. Thanks may you be rewarded nicely!
This has been the BEST video!! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this is such detail, great camera work too! Thank you!!
Thxs so much ! Was given this machine minus the deck . Had no idea what all the hangers did. You explained it perfectly and clearly!
Thanks for watching!

A bad float needle is what causes an engine to fill with gas, not the antibackfire solenoid.

Hi...at Mark 30:34, you show the "rod bolts" and it is a pic of cotter pin thru a bolt. Is that the rod bolt?
Starting fluid will work better than "carb cleaner"

It's about 2 years old with more with about 25-30 hours on the engine
