- Interview and Performance with John Hammond
"…a blues legend with a voice like Robert Johnson's and a demeanor that belies his tear-it-up might before an audience…" - The New York Times
"John Hammond is not only "America's modern country blues man," he is 100% the "real deal." - Paul Aaronson, Elmore
"He interpreted blues standards, gut-bucket boogie, country blues, and his original blues compositions about love gained and lost through the complex narrative of his own wayward soul…The blues are a living, breathing, and feeling thing, and Hammond in his fiftieth year on the road is a legendary master at live performance." - Blues Revue
"Raw electric blues generate the album's primary thrust, riddled with cross-harp riffs, cresting organ runs, boogie piano breaks, stomping beats and Hammond's wonderfully weathered vocals." - The Washington Post, review of Push Comes To Shove
"A brilliant and prolific artist, John Hammond's reputation can only improve." - offBeat Magazine
"…a bluesman to be reckoned with." - Time Out New York
"…like bourbon, his voice only gets more seductively potent with age." - Billboard, review of Ready For Love.
"…[A] tour de force by the veteran bluesman…An inspired match of artist, material and production, Wicked Grin is a Tom Waits album nobody thought possible and a John Hammond album nobody could have expected." - San Francisco Chronicle, review of Wicked Grin

I saw John Hammond with B. B. King and John Lee Hooker in I think it was 1983 at Park West near Park City, Utah. To say the least, it was a treat and a set of performances that I will never forget.
The tone he pulls out of that guitar is amazing! 👍🏻
Saw him in Paris since the 80', spoke to him in the late 90' (new morning), and have his signature on my cd. John is a gem.
Best traditional bluesman I ever heard. I've seen him live many times in NYC.
When he blows on that Tin Sandwich you almost get ready to duck a chunk of lung. An awesome musician and blues historian.
If you love John Hammond, you must check out "The Vanguard Years" he covers everybody from Chuck Berry, Bo Diddely, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and more. It was recorded in NYC in 1964, 65. With greats like Mike Bloomfield, Robbie Robertson, Charlie Musselwhite and more, please check it out a true master piece by Johnny Hammond.
Seen him 50+ times and I'd go again tomorrow.
John Hammond, some of the best blues I've ever heard or seen. I'd love to see him again.
Hey, I think he may have retired.
Джон лучший блюз музыкант всех времен, всегда поражаюсь его игре на гитаре
I saw him at the Fillmore auditorium in SF 1967
Fantastic! John apparently isn't touring anymore sadly, Last saw him in Ferndale, CA at a 100 year old church. Is there a longer
video of him playing the castle? What great sound, and he was all in..wow! Thanks for sharing.

John Hammond is a brilliant musician and a true gentleman. Very nice guy. I saw him probably a dozen times at The Turning Point in Piermont, NY. Unforgettable! 😎🎶🎶🎶
