The Indy gunshot was exactly what I’d always wanted ALL movies to do! F off, I’ve got stuff to do 😆
i was a senior in high school, 1993. me and my dad went to S List on the big screen. we lived in the country and it was a little rural movie theater. Mostly empty theater. You remember, the film had an intermission?? I went to the lobby and wandered around during the break and i was torn emotionally -- I couldn't wait to go back in and see this masterpiece, but I also dreaded it, thinking this was the holocaust and "this was not going to end up well." what a feeling. Outside it was idyllic sun drenched corn fields but inside is black and white Amon Goethe shooting people in the snow.... powerful day. Thank you Mr. Spielberg
Indigenous female filmmaker here 🙋🏽♀️ Steven Spielberg’s movies have made a huge impact on me and I loved the question about impact “on the world”. So happy you were able to get him on Smartless. ❤ Sean wins for best guest of 2023 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
This is the episode when Jason asks Steven all his directing questions under the guise as being for “all the film school students out there” LOL 😂
Steven is such a lovely and beautiful energy! I am tearing up how gracious of a man he is. He is STEVEN SPIELBERG!!!!
Steven's warmth, kindness, and genuine generosity really shine through. And what's also interesting is that after so many years in the business he doesn't seem jaded, he still exudes that childlike curiosity and sense of wonder and joy for filmmaking. Really great episode. And I think it's the first one where not one of you guys joked around or bantered which shows the reverence you guys have for him.
I just listened to this podcast on apple and I had to come here to make a comment
Sean Hayes “No paper?” Line killed me. Unbelievable!
No words....everyone asked great questions and he was just awesome. Now please try for John Williams!
So satisfying to hear a multi-millionaire, super famous, rich guy talk about his struggles. Im so inspired now, my whole life is going to change after listening to this ruch guy make miney hand over fist on all his movies. So heartbreaking to hear that his daughter had access to equestrian training from 5 years old, what a struggle.
gotta be billionaire!
Steven's humanity and kindness really shines in this episode, particularly in Will's story at the end. It's wonderful to know that a man who is literally at the top of the Hollywood elite is such a good person. Of course, close to my heart is Spielberg's latest semi-autobiographical account in "The Fabelmans", detailing his childhood memories including his parents divorce. Another wonderful episode guys, keep it up! - Yoel
Wow, Steven Spielberg & Bojack Horseman on one podcast 🖤
Steven Spielberg was a cool guy while I was an extra for the movie, " 1941". It wasn't as good as I hoped, but they treated the extras well. Hundreds of them. Payed good for non union too! I appreciate the work and the time it takes. God bless Steven Spielberg.
The most amazing conversation ever. ❤
When I saw the name I GASPED SO HARD! Yes
on a Bateman binge right now lol discovered this
Excellent episode guys! I had the pleasure of being directed on a small, but very funny scene with Judd Hirsch on The Fablemans. And it was all created by Spielberg! That's what made it more meaningful to me. 😊
So many people with incredible talents helped create Spielberg's films. The scores for example John Williams made the films come to life.
6 decades of academy nominations. That's it that's the comment.
20:12 huh
LOL Spielberg is so good on this podcast you should add him as a regular. Just dream - he is definitely a fan of the podcast.
Great episode. Spielberg is the GOAT. We are all lucky to have experienced his masterpieces
The best interview ever! Thank you, boys! 😊
Enjoyed this Encounter of the best kind with Spielberg ;; Director , humanist , artist and more.
You Smartness shined today boys ( Sean, Will and Jason )
wow, i just started listening to these episodes this one is the best!
"No paper?" hahahahaha....love you Sean. I died.
Best ever ❤
Whole other level. Fantastic. He truly is an incredible talent and person and you all clicked. Loved this conversation. Well played Sean!
Jason's 2nd longest question ever
I tune in for the inside baseball, so never apologize, Will. Typing from Toronto. This was great! Thanks for such a perfect podcast!
God, as a wannabe filmmaker, the things I’d do to get even a minute of Steven’s time! Wonderful podcast guys, if I could beg you folks to arrange a one on one with Steven with me, I would. Hahaha Love you all and I hope your podcast goes places!
I had no idea on George Lucas’s contribution to Jurassic Park on color correction or editing of the film. I also had no idea Steven Spielberg meet George Lucas while he was in college after showing THX 1138 to an audience.
Steven, may I call you Mr. Spielberg?
wow! such a great interview, great questions for an all-time great director. love everything about this episode. #badnewsinhawaii
A great guest and an even better host Sean H!
Congrats. This was full of love.
CLEARLY, the boys had a heads up for this one.
Thanks for your awesome podcast! This was such a great episode. All 3 of you were so clearly equally entranced. Maybe this is jumping the gun, but I thought I'd share ideas for other guests!: Bill Simmons, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, Tim Gunn, Eric Andre, Roger Deakins, Amy Schumer, Andre Baugher, David Simon, Rashida Jones, Aubrey Plaza, Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer, Donald Glover, Kathryn Bigelow, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Blair Imani, Tina Fey and any other amazing female writers... ok ill stop now lol.....
Rashida Jones, Donald Glover and Roger Deakins would be interesting. Also, I personally would love a few writers on the show.
Hermoso.
Spielberg should direct the legendary heroic story of the Sumerian King Gilgamesh of Uruk and the Anunnaki Sumerian Kings List.
I did not know that story about financing Lincoln.
wow, i mean just wow
I love Steven Spielberg, the dude's always been sort of a realist, but very fine filmmaker with a positive motivation
33:49 Steve's favorites
Let's Do It! Great How Jason is accusing Steven of throwing people out of airplanes with dodgy parachutes... lol
Jason knows things the rest of us do not 😔
Whaaaat???!!!
Who was that actor Spielberg had a conflict with in that tv movie? So curious
Welcome
Where is the Smartless Podcast video version?
I volunteer to set up the cameras for the video portion, hire me!
As many folks, Steven Spielberg makes common mistake with the phrase "per say", when in reality it is "Per se" - a phrase taken directly from the Latin, meaning “by itself,” and with the sense of “in and of itself.”
Can I watch somewhere the podcast with live view nőt just the Sound?
Don't you think that if they had a visual component to this podcast that RUclips would be the place they would upload it?
Their docuseries is on MAX.
The former HBO MAX.

Algorithm+1
Spielberg's movies are either about T-Rexes or Germans
Or aliens lmao
Or sharks
Or robot
Or trucks.
Y’all need to get drew Barrymore!
Don't be reluctant to ask "inside baseball" questions.
Not true, I know who Gabby Hayes is.
This is clearly Glenn Howerton impersonating Steven. The REAL Steven only visits the Sunny Pod, so... Nice try, guys.
...aren't the coronaviruses = number 2 leading cause of the common cold, parainfluenza = number 3, rsv = number 4 leading cause of the common cold?
Tainted lamb? Maybe just don't eat flesh?
Steven who? Get some real celebrities on here, why don't ya
EVERY TIME Spielberg is interviewed, his relationship with Kubrick is NEVER mentioned. An hour of fan boy bullshit, completely omitting anything involving the real mastery of the craft. A waste of a true visionary's time.
OK, dude chill out, the guy is just talking about what's going on in his life, the guy is probably inundated on questions about making movies on the craft all the time probably just wants to relax though that is really cool and I'd like to hear it to these guys are comedian actors. He doesn't just want to talk at them about his film process.
So what Kubrick inspired him he doesn’t need to mention him everywhere
funny how this genius think it was the end of the world event listening to fauci and stuff, just goes to show you the power of media eh
Ahhh…the joy of woke political views. 😏
Ahhh, the joy of people needing to comment just because someone has different opinions than them on a podcast they listen to.
Get those lowrider suspension setups Jason.. you can bounce the front end when honeys walk in front of you at the intersection, and it goes up)))
finished watching the golden globes great winners but i wan't more banshees awards
