Solar panel polarity checking

This is not a "How to" video. You should always refer to the owners manual for proper instruction and safety precautions.
This video is only a demostration on how and what I have done and how it has turned out for me.

Thanks. I had a "dope-slap" moment when I realized I might have reversed some cables which were colored red and black. If I were using all MC4 connectors it wouldn't matter that the negative cable was red, technically; but I was connecting to adapter cables with SAE connectors and I realized they disagreed on the color coding. I used a gender changer but had second thoughts and decided to test the polarity before connecting up. Using your technique, I could see that the polarity was reversed so I removed the gender changer and all is well.

Important: Make sure multimeter leads are connected properly. Red to positive ... Confirm using regular 1.5v battery.

Cool, so what side is that? Left or right? My connectors are already cut off, I'm putting on new ones

Use a digital multimeter and which ever wire your red lead is hooked to, read the meter. If it shows a negative reading the wires are reversed. If it shows a positive reading, the red wire is attached to the positive wire on the panel.

In my experience that would only happen if they were accidentally wired wrong.

True, however the plugs appear to be cross gender...lol. the blasting is a reverse to the pin inside of it. So just for self assurance a polarity check could be helpful.
