- Draco video starts around 2:40.
Two Dracos maidened on a cloudy morning with some light rain. The plane is very impressive in the air. Ken did a few short take-offs and flew it a little harder. I just babied mine around getting a feel for how it responds. The lights looked great on a low light morning and overall an impressive model plane. We are starting to see some really nice vids of the plane being pushed harder - here is a great example from Michael Cline / @michaelclinerc3211
Intern-X continues to make great progress as he begins his RC journey!

😂🤠 Lol I’m playing this video on my 80” shop TV while I’m building wings for scrappy and at the very monument I’m working on the table for wing parts I hear this. “Mike, where’s the wings on scrappy, Back To Work”. 😂😂😂 you guys made my day. Enough typing I’m getting back to work on scrappy wings 🤠
Too funny! Mike, you made our day! That's Ken who said that and he met you when you were in Livermore with Draco. We can't wait for Scrappy!! But right now we are having a blast with Draco :)
Hi Mike
Congrats to the pilots done the their maidens with the Dracos 😊
Good to see some honest flying of the Draco - meaning the video hasn't been edited to show only the smoothest portions of each flight and only the best landings. I appreciate the "real world" look into how this plane flies when it's new to a pilot. Much more helpful to anyone considering a purchase. Thanks!
Thanks Scott - I try to show things as they happen, just a morning of flying, good and bad. :)
I don't know what you're talking about. I guess you haven't watched people like Brian Phillips or RC sailors? They don't edit out their mistakes.
So pleased to see the Draco x2 ! Great episode guys. NSTRC for sure.
Nice flying guys, good job on the Draco maiden, like those lights.
Thanks Jetman - I've been thinking of a video just to show the lights. They are pretty cool and different from the usual lights we get.
🦄 Thank you for the video.
Love you guys! 🙏🏼
Fire fox. Watch out here comes intern x. Landing of the week. DRACO in the grass 👍👍😎✌👊
X gonna be hovering and torque rolling the T-28 this week lol
It's a Super Fun Irony that the plane (Draco) MOST likely to handle a runway over-run has the very feature (reverse) to prevent it from happening!
Great Video!
"Never Stop the R/C"!!!!!!!!!
Draco is a cool looking plane! Good video to!
Thanks Keith!
@@DiscoverRCYou are welcome Jon. Hope I spelled it correctly. I wish you guys were closer, I would like to hang out and learn how to fly. I'm just getting into the hobby.
Awesome plane guys
it was fun - I think folks are going to be happy with it.
Great job again folks, thanks for the maidens and all the different aircraft... and of course Rob and the quad
Thanks Brad! Rob did some really nice flying this week :)
Never stop 🛑. Glad both Dracos returned in one piece. Nice Landings 🛬.
Thanks Duone, I had some nerves for sure
Thank you for sharing guy’s , mine should be here any day now ....
perfect plane for a not friendly landing area!
awesome Griffon!
That’s one of the next ones on my list 😎👊👊. Sweet flying!!!
We had some smooth Draco flying this week. The plane is worth it. :)
@@DiscoverRC I bet. I might be buying it this week 😁 then my bank account will go 👎 lol.
@@KB_RC well that is the only downside...focus on the plane lol
Good stuff guys got mine today and she looks and flys awesome I’ll be out there Sunday with Mike and you guys with my Draco and some other stuff can’t wait to fly with you guys👊
Looking forward to flying with you Nate!!
The lights look awesome on the Draco in the cloudy overcast conditions.
The morning was great for the lights - not sure I've seen a night Draco flight yet but it would be very cool.
Think that's the first scale flying I have seen of the Draco ...no crazy snap rolls or flat spins .
Those markings on the basketball court would make for a great STOL compition
we talked about a STOL competition sometime :) I need to get more time on Draco for that.
"Under the net " lol
Way to rock it on the Dracos guys, sweet grass landing🤙🤙Looking through that Fuse seeing Mike on the way by never gets old. Intern X is looking good, I'm sure he'll be getting it done start to finish in no time. 🔥🔥
Thanks Alpine! We had a new pilot this week who did some pretty insane Draco landings. The plane is something special. :)
Worth he wait !!!! Just love it ... :)
Thanks Johnny!
Sweet Draco.. 👏👏 I have a Corsair problem, I see one and I want it..lol.
makes sense to me, Corsairs do that!
DRACO MADNESS!!! #NSTRC
Draco has landed!
Finally have time to pick my order up, Headed towards the hot ass valley to pick mines up now.
sweet, have fun! Stay cool too
@@DiscoverRC like wise !!!
The Draco is a nice looking plane, I also thinks the lights are one of the coolest parts of the model. Some Night Time Flying is needed for sure. Pilot X will be 3-D'ing it in no time. Also, nice touch and go around & landing by Jung, the quiet one. Never Stop the RC!!!!
Jay! The LEDs are pretty amazing in the dark - I didn't fly it, just turned it on in the driveway at night :) It's the quiet ones you have to watch out for....
Que hermoso me encanta ése Draco, algún momento espero adquirirlo
DRACO YES!!!!
:)!!!!
Made it!
sweet!
ONCE YOU RC, YOU NEVER XBOX AGAIN
That was a fun morning and not as wet as I thought it would get :) Dracarys!!!
That show would have ended better if it had Draco lol. Rob, amazing chase flying as usual! The orbits were super cool!!
@@DiscoverRC Even a Draco couldn't have saved Season 8. It made a great show utterly forgettable in the long term :(
Horizon new Advert - Perfect Plane for the Worse RC flying Spot in the world.....
love the fact you guys are taking the time to teach to fly at my field the guys there look down on foamies
People in the hobby who have an attitude against foamies are quite silly.
You guys are mean! You didn't tell Steve that we don't fly Corsairs anymore these days. He looked pretty much like being on the wrong party...
Nevermind, Steve. Despite that Draco hype I just bought a good old "steam-powered" Do 27, now waiting to be maidened. Who needs that super-fancy Draco thing... ;-)
We laughed at him showing up to a Draco party with a Corsair. Who does that?!?!? Silly Steve.
nice landing 13:14
Thanks! It lands nicely dead stick
Great video..
Thank goodness it wasn't too long.. my legs were getting numb..
Can't wait for Wednesdays now..
Best 💩💩💩 of the week
rofl never change man.
I gotta see his Draco in the park. I used to fly the Carbon Z Cub SS as a park flyer lol. I put a 2 sets of super bright lights on it. It was practically a night flyer. See my channel video on that.
Can't wait to fly my Draco in the park lol. Well... more like pre-winter and it's a little cool out and less people around, of course. And dusk too haha.
it will look stunning at dusk with the lights.
Sad that there was no weekly jet, but those Dracos are really awesome! NSTRC!
I have a feeling some jets will return this week. :) Never Stop MD!!
Nice! When you crash a plane, You have to get back to work in order to never stop the RC!
absolutely - fixed it!
Jonathan, how in God's Name do you keep that camera as steady as you do? Hardly any shake whatsoever. You are a rock, man! The Stever is just THE KING with that fine-lookin' Corsair. I think he's determined to keep it all in one piece. Rob's skills with the quads has risen to Flite Test filming levels. He's ridiculously talented. Plus, he's hardly ever on the runway anymore. Jung's Hurricane is amazing, and he is a gifted pilot. Beautiful landings! Is that thing a Dynam? They are cheap but fly brilliantly. The Dracos are... AMAZING, although I could feel your nerves right through the screen. Ken seemed locked in to brilliance today on it. He is a terrific pilot. I just love watching you guys!
It's just a ton of practice filming place and something in the donuts :). I had no idea Steve was even going to fly that Corsair, happy he did because it looks and sounds awesome. I agree Rob has elevated his game and I enjoy so much going through his footage to see the surprises and how our planes look from the quad. Hurricane is an old e-flite no longer made. Oh yeah I was nervous, it's good though. Part of the game. Nothing like when I used to maiden a balsa plane with a ton of hours in the build. Thanks for watching and supporting our little corner of RC!!! Never Stop!
I was not able to take part on the T-Shirt winning contest as i am not living in USA or Canada 🤣😅 BUUUUUT... my order arrived today so now it is time to "NEVER STOP THE RC" 🤪
lol awesome! Is the shirt good?
@@DiscoverRC fits perfect and applies +5% rudder authority and +2% agility while wearing sunglasses 😎
Poo have to wait !!!!
dang it all
Then i have to stay awake this night as well😭 I never get to sleep🤣
same hahaha
did you fall asleep lol
@@DiscoverRC yeah... long day at work.. 🤪
@@ArcticRc lol yeah work does that
Although we maiden our Dracos, let's not let that distract you from the fact that Intern-X took off on his own the first time on Sunday. Landing is next. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤩🤩🤩
yes indeed, great flying X, and teaching Ken!
Yep, well done X, just take it easy on the turns, you gone loose a wing one day ;o)
Never stop the donuts!
right? Next week it will be fixed!
Is it live yet? :P Just cant wait for this video!
it was lol
@@DiscoverRC couldn't watch it yet still had 4 hours to go haha :P
Hi Discover RC,
is the Dragon now what you expected ?
How difficult is it in relation to the Turbo Timber ?
Could you explain a bit the “Draco” fever ?
I’ve hit on one or two in my lifetime! Birds.
Oh I'll let her know!
@@DiscoverRC
I don’t think you got it.
In the UK, we call sexy girls, birds.
Ha ha.
Draco with its reverse thrust was made for this place
11:07 Same here Ken LOL!
17:09 That's one of the tricks my uncle showed me back in the day when I use to practice on the his Dave Brown R/C sim to fly one of the sport planes on there to help me get the hang of the ''bank & yank'' then I was able to start getting better a lot faster.
Great job on both maiden's guys hopefully Firefox will have has ready next weekend? so all 3 of you could go up together?
I think Firefox is getting his in May. But his friend Nate who is an outstanding pilot my join us with his new Draco.
@@DiscoverRC Oh!! That Nate I thought in the other video when you said Nate I thought you meant the one who fly's with you guys? LOL
Dumb batteries FTW! 🤣
@@kenleung1124 Yeah I have really stupid Graphene lipos that make my flight last a little longer then those smarty pants lipos Johnathan uses LOL.
I’m officially Dracoed out !! Lol to much Draco ! Draco this Draco that !! Draco off !!!! Lmao 👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
lol yeah I hear you! This will go on for a bit.
NEVER STOP the RC
never stop!....you....lol
Intern x soon should be renamed to captain stunts. Thats awesome to see him improve that much in a short period of time. I think you need to parachute some of those aliens you carry around 🤣
X is going to be Pilot-X soon. Oh I did drop those aliens, next morning they were on my doorstep and not too happy.
Did you say Draco?!!! 😂 Are we weird?. 😂
Hey, some of us enjoy RC. 🤷🏻♂️🇨🇱👍
Just subscribed. Where in the Bay do you fly? Would love to come fly sometime. I'm a novice at best.
We fly in Moraga on Sundays around 8 and you are welcome to join. discord.gg/UhsKt5jz
Hi fellas Draco looks cool but does it fly better than the Eflight carbon Z cub SS ?
Realistically, 2 different planes. Draco is super scale STOL sport plane and should be flown as such. Carbon Z Cub SS is a more capable STOL type plane but not as scale in every way.
Carbon Z Cub SS, you can throw it around for some aerobatic maneuvers and it'll take it. Try to do that with Draco and it'll fight back a bit.
@@kenleung1124 Hi thanks for your reply i just can't make my mind up which one to get.

@@DiscoverRC ha ha you know tagalog language
@@elordemedina9474 not really lol
Aw we don’t wanna wait 5 hours lol
you don't - it's over :)
Nice to see a maiden so soon after the build.....and COOL grass landing (think the shocks like the grass a little better than the tarmac?)
I think the springs are slightly too stiff (not enough give) and the tires are too stiff also. I have a set of PR Bushwheels I'll be installing as soon as I can make some axles and I'm looking to see if I can modify the shocks to make it softer.
@@kenleung1124 May be open the springs a little before any major work? I’ll be honest the tail wheel left would wind me up.....the servo travel is obviously ok as the rudder works perfectly.....but is a push rod fouling on something right hand side back? just a thought....
No doubt Ken is going to put on a real set of bush wheels.
Hi, I really enjoy watching your videos and have started doing my own on my channel. I just wondered if you could tell me what camera you are using to get the great video? As I am struggling to get decent footage. Thanks.
Are you filming yourself or do you have someone to film? For yourself the Hero 9 is probably the best out there now. I've been using Sony 4K handycams for years to film others flying and they do the job. I have two right now - ax43 and ax53. The 53 is really better for non-flying stuff. The ax43 is excellent for filming planes without getting into the cost of really high end cameras.
@@DiscoverRC that's brilliant thanks. I have help when filming so that's great advice. Thanks again and never stop the RC!!
Id also try centering that servo for the tail wheel maybe
Tail wheel is connected to the rudder directly. There isnt a servo for the tail wheel. The horn for the tail wheel isn't a spline like a servo but a square. Look at our build video to see what I mean.
You can't really center it like Ken said - if they had done the spring links on a clevis it would have been easy.
@@kenleung1124 huh id have to re-evaluate my own Draco and look at the wiring lol i didnt know that
@@DiscoverRC okay so ive looked at it and it does turn all the way left and right but when the wheel is to the left, if you assist it a little it DOES move all the way. It's almost like there is some slack in it
@@swivilposter8945 will see tomorrow how Ken's does with his mod. Turning also does increase once some air is blowing over the rudder.
I honestly do not know if I could maiden a Draco (or any other high dollar plane) at the Worst Place To Fly(tm). Hats are off to you. I guess it is a STOL and does have grass landing capabilities but my intestinal and testicular fortitude just isn't there after years of "aw crap" moments. I am curious though... how well were the Dracos setup? Out of the box no trim?
Out of the box, minor trim if any. I used full rates with some expo on all surfaces.
I'm little disappointed Steve hasn't flown his BF-109 there yet
It's nice knowing you can bring Draco down anywhere on the field and then taxi it back :) I didn't add any trim on it - felt good and cg was right.
This may seem like an odd question, but how many acres do you estimate you guys are flying over?
That's a good question - The courts and all the field maybe 25-35. Total guess.
@@DiscoverRC Thanks. It really does not seem that large in your videos.
You guy's need to do stal drag races with all the planes✈✈🛩🛫🛬..
that could be interesting!
Need some open space with less basketball nets in the way. Road trip to the Mojave
@@overramming8724 yeah
Never saw the T-28 land. Did it crash?
He landed it, but a bit rough. I wasn't on the sticks as I was manipulating his controls on his radio. He guided the plane in with my instruction and I helped him ease the throttle down. Plane touched down and maybe he got a little excited and powered up on accident. By the time I let go the trainer button, the plane jumped up about a foot. My throttle was a 0, so as soon as my radio took over the plane dove down. That made a for a hard landing needing minor repairs. Next time, he should be able to take off and land on his own. 👍🏻
So DRACO doesn't float around like a Turbo Timber. It likes to be flown. Coming in for a landing, it likes speed. My full flaps are slightly more than the manual suggestion by a few percent to help slow it down and more lift. Next time I'll try to shift the CG to rear slightly to see if that helps any.
Looking forward to seeing you and Nate flying! I might just be filming it all on Sunday, it's such a cool plane.
Ok here they are if Rob doesn't mind answering these 5 questions?
1.What are has thoughts on the new Emax Babyhawk 2 HD?
2. Now that he fly's with DJI googles will he be converting all of his Toothpicks to HD by using the Caddx Vista Pro cameras instead of analog?
3.Will he ever try to learn to fly R/C planes?
4.Out of all of the quadcopters he's flown over the years which is the one he totally hated?
5.BTW Did you ever pay Johnathan back for pulling that trick on you with your SD card? LOL
Here you go:
1.What are has thoughts on the new Emax Babyhawk 2 HD? I really like it. I don't own it but I have had a few Emax hawks and they all flew great.
2. Now that he fly's with DJI googles will he be converting all of his Toothpicks to HD by using the Caddx Vista Pro cameras instead of analog? Nope. I have given away quite a few analog quads and the others just sit in a box. I won't be flying analog again unless I get all nostalgic and pull out the analog fleet. It is good to know I have a completely separate analog fleet that is there for backup. I don't plan on converting my Toothpicks but I am looking at building some new slightly heavier Toothpicks :)
3.Will he ever try to learn to fly R/C planes? Probably one day. I am thinking of picking up a wing over the summer. I really think fixed wing is cool but I tend to get caught up with my hobbies and have to limit what I focus on. I don't fly as much as I used to and what limited time I have to fly nothing beats a quadcopter for me.
4.Out of all of the quadcopters he's flown over the years which is the one he totally hated? I really haven't hated any of the multi-rotors I have owned or built over the years. I did have a prototype octocopter that I bought off Kickstarter that didn't fly very well. I didn't hate it as the technology was still just developing at that time but it wasn't a keeper. I also never really liked any tri-copters.
5.BTW Did you ever pay Johnathan back for pulling that trick on you with your SD card? LOL. Nah, that trick was funny. I couldn't help but laugh at it. I really wanted to find that damn SD card.
@@RCDevotee Cool Rob thanks for answering my questions dude one more tiny question Have you ever tried to fly any of your quadcopters L.O.S Line of Sight??
@@3DMOFO2020 When I maiden the quads I build I always LOS them. I learned LOS first then strapped on the FPV. I never got great at LOS flying though as I need the FPV immersion to keep flying pack after pack.
