That’s the “disconnect tone”, which you’ll hear on some phone lines when the caller hangs up. The answering system will detect this as a repeating tone and clip off most of it. Getting rid of this tone is something you’ll have to talk to your phone company about. On some lines, a dial tone is activated upon disconnection, or a busy tone sounds, which again will hang up the answering system.
