They were all great in the 3 acts of the movie. Ms. Harris was superb. Mr. Ali was incredible. The three Chirons. The three Kevins (Kev). My hat off to all off them! I wish them the best now and in the future.
Some people in the theater erupted into applause at Chiron's "chair" scene at school in the 2nd chapter, which was a reaction I didn't quite understand. That was one of the saddest scenes in the entire film for me because it's when Chiron resorted to violence because he was literally incapable of any other response in that moment. That moment changed him for the worse and forever, which is deeply depressing.
It was dark enough in the theater, which enabled me to break down a couple of times and just let the tears come out. What a beautiful release of emotions I hadn't felt in a long time. Superb acting and direction. Wow. I am in love with this movie.
As someone raised in Miami, I can attest that I have never seen a movie that more beautifully and truthfully captured the city I grew up in. The first time I saw the film, I walked out of the theater at night and looked around and I looked at my friends that came with me to see it and in them I saw the characters of the film and I thought, "My God, it looks exactly the same as real life, that movie was real life." To other people from Miami and I this is more than just a film, it's a beautifully composed portrait of what it is to grow and develop in a place like this while facing so many troubles in life.
An absolutely brilliant film. The acting was so poignant, the soundtrack incredibly moving, and the story was intelligent and sensitive without being gratuitous. I hope that it wins all the rewards it deserves.

I’ve watched it once every week since. My heart feels Chiron. When I hear, “who is you Chiron”, I reflect on who I am. Who am I?
Clips still take my breath away... I had never had such a transcendent experience where art was a breathing body, transforming right in front of me. A gift.
