I try to do little things like that from time to time, but honestly, sometimes it happens and I don't even realize I'm doing it until after the fact :)
Your videos are amazing, i like your explanation which is crisp and to the point. I have a request that can you please post a video about Yunohost please.
i tried to install mistborn with two different tutorials and failed both. On the server side shell it ends with following prompt: "client_loop: send disconnect: Connection reset". After that i cannot access my server via ssh. Not even a restart helps. i must reset the whole server.
When i finish the installation and connect to wireguard is active but dosnt work i mean i cant go to any website or home.mistborn dashboard any solution? i need to portfowarding my wireguard or something like that?
I found the issue. In this version of pihole that comes with the latest version of mistborn inside the container there is a file in /etc/lighttpd/conf-enabled called 15-fastcgi-php.conf. They have a misconfiguration of the TZ where America/New york is in double quotes. The issue is I tried to change the pi hole container to :latest in the base.yml but it still downloaded the affected version. 22.x. So, I can manually do it, but as soon as i reboot it breaks again. I will be working through upgrading that container on its own but I haven't reverse engineered the code enough to know how yet
I just installed some of these in docker... :( Do u think I should go this way rather? I have homeassistant in docker too..I use heimdall to “summerize” the apps in my browser based on your earlier instructions ;)
If i wanted to back this up, how would be the best way? burn the whole image? just the volumes directory as per the docker backup directions? rsync that to a separate drive?
I unplugged the pi (to move it closer to my router/modem) and it has appeared to stop workin. I can no longer ssh into it. The VPN/PI hole doesn't work and neither does the mistborn site? how do i fix this
hi when run script error in ubuntu 20.04 this Error: Unable to locate package linux-headers-5.4.0 E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'linux-headers-5.4.0' can you help me?
A quick google search later and I found this: askubuntu.com/questions/1345907/linux-headers-5-4-0-56-generic You should be able to update the version and get sorted
Are you able to help me out please, I know how to get to the port forwarding settings in the router, I just don't know what to do when I get there :) break it down for me please, thanks so much!!
can you use the pihole set up this way to be used as DNS server for your home router? also if you are at home do you still require to access the services using wireguard? is it possible to allow connection without vpn from trusted network?
This is a self-contained solution. If you want a DNS server for your whole home, you'll want to set up a different solution like a stand-alone pi-hole instance
Great video! Has anyone tried Guacamole within Mistborn? I get an error when starting and opening Guacamole. The other apps work but for some reason, which I cant work out, Guacamole wont work. Thanks
Little questions about mistborn, can it act as multihop wireguard server, so it could connect me to my vpn provider also still having pi-hole as a dns adblocker?
Anyone else tried installing this on OMV? :) After the install, the OMV Web Control interface is not accesible anymore. Nor is the home.mistborn one. With or without client Wireguard active. Any solutions on how to fix this?
@@DBTechYT ok, while I understand you are just bringing this to your viewer's attention and it is my choice. Hey DB! I've been watching your OMV series videos! Im starting with an HP 8300 SFF and added a Geforce GTX 1050 ti (4gb RAM) to help with transcoding, but later realized the HP has an Intel i5-3470 chip w/ 'QUICK SYNC' which handles transcoding... I'm not sure which to use for transcoding?? The Geforce does give me HDMI 2.0b output for 4K video (same as my Sony tv)... So far, I've upped the HP to 16 RAM (ddr3), installed a 500gb SSD for Win 10, OpenMediaVault, Plex, etc. I will also add an Ironwolf 4TB HDD for media. The plan is to use this setup as an HTPC / Media Server. Do you see any issues with this setup? Did I forget about something? Stay strong!!!✌
I tried Ubuntu Server 20.04 but couldn't connect to Mistborn. Seems like it was reported as an issue about 9 months ago, but still exists. Wiping again to load up Ubuntu Desktop 20.04
@@DBTechYT First, thank you very much for even responding, I very much appreciate it. I was having DNS issues, and resolv.conf errors. I am going to wipe and try server again, as the desktop version uses 6% of 16gb of ram with the minimal version and no apps installed.
Mistborn gets tested almost daily against Digitalocean's Ubuntu Server 20.04 image. This is always the first image that gets tested. The Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop image is local in Virtualbox. You're saying you have issues with DNS in a VM running Ubuntu Server 20.04? The install process stops and disables systemd-resolved, which is the Ubuntu default, but if that were still running and bound to port 53 then Mistborn-base would not be happy.

Well.. the video is nearly 2 years old (May of 2021.) So... I'm not sure what to tell you? This is interesting. If only it would support more apps. I have OMV5 but would switch in a heartbeat since this looks to focus much more on security.
How's this been going? I ran into issues getting this set up and kind of walked away from it hoping it would get better. Any update?
Wow, nice! Thanks for the video
This looks amazing. Can't wait to give it a try myself
Hope you enjoy
Many thanks, it's very useful! The most services work fine but still can't get Pihole's dashboard working: "Bad Gateway"

Quick question about nas os’s... about 2 years ago I was able to find about 6 or 7... any comparisons or suggestions or good ones?

I believe you need to do a split tunnel thing with this, but it's been a long time so I'm not 100% on that
