David Torn at the Fretboard Journal

- On the morning of May 18, 2015, composer, and producer David Torn stopped by the Fretboard Journal magazine to perform a couple of improvised tunes for us at our Seattle offices.
He's playing his Ronin Mirari which has been customized with one of Torn's Interruptulators in the pickguard.
Torn uses a variety of effects. On this tune he was playing through borrowed Bogner Goldfinger 69 and a Fryette Sig:X amplifiers.

This is my first exposure to David Torn (yeah I know, not as cool as discovering him via Vinyl or 20 years ago, we can't know as many as we might like) and at first I sorta judged a book by it's ( ugh pardon my lazy cliche) cover. But man that was beautiful, strange, weird and yet so musical. loved it. The 2013 Bowie album is in the house but i've yet to hear it. I read that he is credited with guitar on it, so i'll have to give that a listen. Thank you for sharing such quality and inspiring music Fretboard Journal!

What amazed me about your cousin Jeff though was that he always tuned all 5 strings to Bb. I thought it was nuts at first but I realized when Jeff would play 5 Bbs all at once I finally understood.

dd1yr yes, sync is off in 3 spots, but especially at the end; i'm pretty sure there's a whole lot more video, too! that was kinda the OMG-i-just-had-coffee-intro to the day, very early in the morning. looking forward to the rest, too.
