As someone that played TOF I can tell you that it & WuWa are no where near. TOF was bas because it was all over the place & didn't what it wanted to be meanwhile WuWA has a clear goal in mind that it wants achieve, which is Open World game with fast paced action combat.
I love that TOF is all over the place cause the exploration mechanics for each region is different. They try to add features in almost all aspects so it's kinda surprising in a good way
@@ProkerKusaka maybe in the older areas but in Domain 9, some players even quit due to the overwhelming number of items that should be collected (field energy). I also found out recently that these respawn.
@@genshinfinity it was due to after CBT1 people was complaini g that there is too much content in open world so devs leterally halfed chests and puzzles and doubled rewards. I really dont understand who in their mind dislike actual content lol.
The fact that kuro has always listened to it's community and show just how much passion they truly have for their game is pretty much the whole reason I became a fan of their work I'm so happy to see this small company go big from pgr to wuwa
Tower of Fantasy was indeed an "indie" game developed by a small 30 person team. After such hugely successful launch they then upscaled to 300+ staff. Then you see the quality overall improve from 2.0 and then even more to 3.0. It's definitely a note-worthy success story regardless of how it was perceived by most people.
the thing is you kinda only get one chance for a first impression. i played all hoyo games since 2014 with the first honkai game, then honkai3rd, genshin, star rail and also punishing grey raven (form kuro makers of wuwa), and ToF. and while I have to say honkai impact 3rd has the best history I have seen in a gacha game by far (it kinda cheats because to get the full thing you need to also read 3 10hour each visual novels and 200 chapters of manga on top of the 80h game history .) also has the big big advantage of being a few characters history with no self insert protagonist. so the MC of that game is not the player but just another character and the player watches the history but is not a part of it in any way, much more like watching an anime than playing a game really. gameplay wise previous Kuro games punishing grey raven clears all mihoyo games and ToF by a mile. is simply the best action combat we had in gacha so far. now in character design I sadly still have to give it to mihoyo. and I like genshin the least of any of their game, in fact I played 3 other of their games way more than genshin. all 3 honkai games have stellar character design. they really now how to make waifus and husbands people will wanna pull. even if they suck ingame people will still pull them. ToF doesn't shine more than mihoyo or kuro in any way, I agree is not a bad game. but the problem is that most people only play 1 or 2 gacha games. and is a crowded market. ToF at launch felt like a weird mix between several honkai impact 3rd and genshin features. but with a way more predatory monetization. ToF is just a good game but is being compared to better games. cant compete with honkai in history, cant compete punishing grey raven on gameplay and can compete with genshin of zelda like exploration feeling.
@@lucaskp16 Interesting to see someone mention the character designs here as well, which is something I've seen a lot hidden everywhere when people talk about WuWa, PGR and ToF. I felt the same and it's pretty crazy, since that seems to be pretty much the only reason why I don't really feel super excited about it. I might try it later when more characters are out, but rn I'm exclusively interested in the gameplay and nothing else, but that's not enough when there are so many other cool games out there. I dislike Genshin gameplay, but apparently manly players enjoy the characters and casual Visual Novel stuff a lot. Probably because lots of them love anime as well and play on their phones, so hard long dark souls battles can be tedious when the average gamer plays the game for 10 minutes on the way to their job. Husbando/Waifu game is strong and I'm a victim of this as well lmao. But that's just gacha I guess, people pull for fun. I hope WuWa comes up with some better character designs in the future, right now I saw way too many girls with black outfits and black hair
@@banir3736 deep down, they know this game have big chance to flop like tof. Nobody know about this game except their own bubble. Look how much this ww cc view number. So much for the hypest game of 2024.
True. I only played ToF for 4 months, but it only felt like a time skip story with no explanation of how we met some of the SSR characters in the first place.
11:04 While i get we're talking about Genshin specifically here, HSR's team actually does listen to their playerbase, so generalizing all of Hoyo hurts any argument being made. That said, Genshin's literal refusal to add end game to their game is a ridiculous stance lol. Took them 4 versions to add QoL stuff that should have been there before moving on to 2.x and beyond.
Funnily enough, Genshin's rumored to be updating Abyss and are planning to make a new Endgame mode. Many speculate it's because of WuWa coming out since the rumors only started this month. I doubt Genshin would do it if they weren't threatened by WuWa.
Tof never marketed themselves as the genshin killer. They actually sued the guy for coining it cause it was not their goal to be like genshin. Plus you're only talking about tof 1.0 and it's nowhere near what it's like today so this whole video is very misleading. Please be an active player in the game if u are going to make a fair assessment between games. Many active tof players will call you out and as I'm currently playing wuwa and tof now, I can tell u wuwa is nothing like tof. Tof is still better but I'm willing to wait for wuwa to develop further but I keep falling asleep from the storyline. Tof was never as boring during its start and didn't make me sit through hours of endless stories that's makes me want to die of boredom but we'll see....as a combat driven player I can tell u combat is still way more fun in tof than wuwa
Idk what you're talking about. The last time I played TOF when it had the Evangelion event. Everything was so boring and not fun in all honesty. The characters seem dry unless you DIG into the story very far. The main plot is boring whatsoever, but you have to do it to unlock more worlds and stuff. And I have no idea what you're yapping about TOF combat system, it sucks. In Wuwa, you can beat the highest level boss with lvl 60 character with just enough skills, but in ToF it feels like smashing button and hoping that you will do enough damage. (My own experience, and I also played ToF since the beginning)
Combat driven player and you don't think WuWa's combat is better? cap. ToF has good mechanics for unit's skills, but it's not complicated by any means. I still think it's better than Genshin's combat tho. But WuWa takes the cake on combat. ToF also has good raid mechanics so I'll give em that. Genshin and ToF barely have any "skill issue" issues lol, it's more "wallet" issue, iykyk.
man, ToF just can't take a break can't we? we're just happily playing our games as MMO and distancing ourselves from these "single player open world games" and yet people still shitting on ToF, a completely different game. oh well, im happily waiting for 4.0 tho
@@Adam-bc1un yeah, i cant believe even to this day, everyone still compared new gacha game with TOF old footage, why not compared to new one ? i dont understand.
Fair takes. I personally like ToF, i know where it has problem but that doesn't reduce my fun so its ok. I don't give to much importance to the story and because i can skip, its totally ok. (Well i still read the main quest that i find interesting sometime and short enough to not reduce my fun) I never encountered big bugs or hack. I don't care about pvp. I don't find the gearing system to be bad, its pretty simple and somehow equivalent of previous MMO i have played. Basically focusing on stats that favorise your archtype. And i don't see the endless tower as the endgame but more as a filler when nothing to do and grind for mats. For me the endgame is the coop in donjon and raids and fun with people on the open world. But in the end i mostly play it for collecting Waifus and doing some fun exploration without having to read endless text repeated 3 times by an annoying voice. Now with Wuwa coming i can try a new open world, it seems pretty good and i expect to have fun, if not then i'll stop playing it.
I played the game for a month after launch and spent a little bit as well. The game definitely had some fantastic parts to it that were fun and innovative, but the underlying systems just made it so hard to continue playing after the novelty wore off.
@@saintontas Oh totally, its not for everyone to accept the problem the game had or still have and for what i've seen some people in some server got a lot of bug, hack and things that i didn't. If i didn't dislike Genshin at this moment i would have probably stoped playing ToF.
@@prisciliafloraGood for you! I've tried to come back to ToF after stopping since I got stuck on a certain level and can't even find people to coop with me because I'm far too behind. While I don't have a problem with coop, I just wish they also gave consideration to their Solo players especially in dungeons that give the memory sets.
i played tof and was really hyped when it was released and grinded it like crazy and i was really worried and wuwa would be simular and didnt want that to happen but now that you mention these points im convinced that it is NOT going to be the same experience. looking forward to the game
Yep, the optimization is sucks ass just like tof, but at least dev seem still has more passion than tof's dev. However, I feel like I'm neither of their target demographic since I only have low-end device
@@TamagoTanjiro maybe so, but meanwhile their reputation will suffer and they’ll loose a lot of players. I can’t even say I would continue to play and give them more time, because it’s so laggy even on low settings, just when I walk my screen gets frozen every other meter I go. It’s insane. They can’t expect players to be ok with a gameplay like that for whatever months this will take to fix…. (Besides we he get another free 10 pull on the 3rd June, that’s how *broken* the game really is!!!)
@@magdalenas.4 I can't speak on screen lag bc me and my circle of friends haven't experienced any frame lags. Maybe it's a problem about what you're playing on. Especially if you're saying you're already on low settings 🤷♂And it's fine if you don't play, at the end of the day, you gotta do you. I'm not here tryna get people to play. But at the same time, it's only been a week. Maybe the players that they lose will be for the better. I don't play games to hate on it, I've played many games that's had a terrible launch but they ended up fixing them and it was worth the wait. And then there are games that 4 years in, and they still haven't listened to their communities, meanwhile Kuro is constantly listening. 🤷♂
@@TamagoTanjiro yeah, and they have been so free to publish private informations of their costumers. 🙄🤦🏽♀️ I think there’s a difference between bugs and sheer incompetence. (Only one week and they still haven’t figured out how to stop that the game is crashing down, lagging etc.) They should be glad to lose costumers? What kinda business practice is that? 😅🤣🤣🤣 Most gacha gamers are mobile players, hardcore PC players with gaming PC’s are not their main audience and they will not stay after they squeezed out all of the content. So having a bad start for mobile players is actually the WORST thing that could happen to them. And honestly the rewards are good, but they show to which degree they had messed up. And to me it’s also a sign of weakness. I don’t know where if they can make a change till ZZZ comes out, but with every passing day that the performance issues aren’t solved they lose more and more costumers.
I think the biggest problem with TOF is the fact that the SR's were completely pointless. Absolutely zero reason to ever use them. So the only thing that you looked forward to when pulling is the SSR's. WW you can use the weapons for fodder, has some okay 3*'s for F2P, and the 4* characters actually have insane value.
I think you need to understand how different games work. SR characters weapons only for beginner players to help them til they get an SSR, ToF is an MMO not single player where SR character is needed for team building like Genshin or WuWa. In ToF you mostly aim to get an SSR.
As a TOF player who hasnt played the other gane yet, my tip is this. You can play whatever you guys want.....I am going to stay with TOF here 😊 And we dont need to reason why we play what we play. Everyone has their own taste of games and I respect that 😊
Wow! I've never played TOF, but thanks to your comparisons and visualisation I finally understood the reasons for the community's position. Strongly support the idea that WuWa would be amazing!
@@sayanara5223 far, far away from being an amazing game and i played it for awhile. It had potential, but Hotgames did not capitalise on it and still doesn't, sadly
dont listen to the guy above me, that game is not only dead, but its also a waste of your time and not enjoyable at all. The only people that like the game are simps who are simping for waifus in unnecesary pornographic outfit xd
Great video and I agree with your overall point, but I think you were actually a little hard on ToF... ToF's execution was awful, agreed, but the ideas were dominantly well received. The PVP and Bygone Phantasm were mid-to-bad at best. But, World Bosses, Raids, Wormhole, Frontier Clash, Void Rifts, Void Abyss, Claire's Dream Machine, Artificial Island, Joint Operations, Dimensional Battles, Grayspace Fissures were all endgame modes and were widely enjoyed. I'd certainly say they are superior to anything that appears in Genshin (artifact farming, bosses, and gathering). The exploration was fantastic also. The timed items was absolutely a mistake like you said, but it shouldn't overshadow how much they got right about making exploration fun: surf boards, motorcycles, creating pillars, jet packs, etc. I just wouldn't want to leave the impression that exploration in Genshin is in any way superior just because of the timed boxes. Genshin exploration is so painfully boring I haven't been able to do any since Inazuma. I would literally rather do my day job and spend the $20 per patch, than climb one more mountain. That's the overall point, I'm not defending Hotta or ToF. I'm frustrated with Hotta because they left a stench on their ideas such that people will likely not imitate them. I would love to see Kuro, or Hoyoverse or any veteran developer, copy all of ToF's ideas and actually polish the execution because that game would be incredible. A side point, though. Again, great video and I agree that WuWa will not have the same glaring issues ToF had, certainly not to the game-breaking extent it did.
Definitely something I could have addressed more - MANY aspects of ToF were fantastic and a complete upgrade over Genshin, but it became so hard to deal with the game's other systems that many of these gems were ignored. The main improvement in my eyes from ToF over Genshin was definitely the exploration, and the fact that Kuro has heavily pushed for high speed in exploration has me believing that they may take more of the 'good' from ToF in future additions to the game.
@@saintontas Absolutely! Thanks for thoughtfully responding. No worries, I get it you have to leave parts out to make a concise point but I'm glad you agree that those were good elements we'd love to see more of. That's what the comment section is for anyway lol. And, yes, they hinted at riding the birds in the cinematic and of course the bike boss, so let's hope they follow through and really make exploration nearly as entertaining as the combat.
We don't want a genshin killer we want a game that'll actually push hoyo to improve genshin. They currently have an effective monopoly and no reason to make the game better.
NGL, I think that the 2 competitors DID push Hoyoverse to try harder - Genshin 3.x had a stronger storyline than just "Go to x location, complete tasks for the people... fight boss... move to new region" with an actual purpose to the story, as hinted at from the fact that there were 2 Dendro and 2 Hydro (Well, 1... but we don't talk about that) archons
My only big issue with it is that the character designs are very... mid? Not a hoyo shill, but whoever designs Genshin and Star Rail characters is a genius. Mona, Nahida, Raiden Shogun, Kafka etc. are immensely popular and it's easy to see why. The gameplay looks cool, but idk, I don't really feel the urge to play it right now since the characters can't catch me at all. It shouldn't be a problem and it might just be a more "gritty" style, but average woman with black hair and black clothes makes me snooze. :/ ToF was pretty much the same, I got the feeling that most of their designs came from an AI. It looks really interesting, might try it after a few months. Another maybe-issue might be the difficulty and gameplay, iirc people are a bit fed up with exploration in Genshin, next region according to leaks won't have too much annoying stuff anymore, most players are casuals playing for a few minutes on their phones so long and hard action boss battles could end up being a bit problematic. That's why I switched to Star Rail which is much more friendly in its loading times, storage usage and quick dailies. I hope it'll turn out well, but I'm kinda scared considering that PGR and HI3 are not THAT mega popular anymore for understandable reasons
First wave mix of looks and weapons, secound wave chinese look and thired wave sexy look. I still can't be ask as there was one map for maybe 6 months with more maps added which feel like way too much to enjoy trying to play tof again 😂
I think a lot of the things you discussed about ToF are lacking context. For example, raiding in ToF on mobile isn’t bad at all. It depends on the device and connection. You can edit your settings to display no more than 5 players.
what people who compares wuwa with tof dont see is that kurogames is doing exactly the same thing "mihoyo" did to elevate themselves to the world stage. they both had good action rpg before delving their hands into open world stuff. kuro has pgr which is good for me personally. and hoyo had hi3 before genshin. and about people saying the world in wuwa looks bland, do they even understand the atmosphere difference. wuwa is going for a more dark route while genshin had that vibrant feel to it. a much needed escape for people struggling with the pandemic. they released at a very opportune time. and for people who say wuwa is tof 2.0, do they even know the difference of genres. tof is mmorpg. wuwa is not mmo. its pgr but open world. i just hope kuro doesnt become as much predatory as hoyo has become these days. pgr had 100% rate ups for debut characters. and you could get the weapon anytime since its not time limited. in wuwa character banner will be same as hoyo games but weapon banner 100% so basically reverse of pgr. anyway in the end, speculations are just speculations. when time passes and it doesnt get popular, they'll still have the pgr fanbase playing wuwa
0::43 literally what i'm saying here. for me, i had never compared tof and genshin since they're both games of diffrent genres but very similar. and i had tried the game myself.
For me honeslty this is a subjective take but i think wuthering waves character has the same face syndorme while in hsr or genshin or even girls frontline 2 has a much better look and design at least for me (in conculsion i wont be playing wuthering waves cuz the character looks just ok)
Really? Coz for me, there are some characters I can say almost have the same face but maybe I'm just nitpicky. The most comparable is Childe and Thoma. People even thought Thoma was a Childe clone at first because of how similar they look. Another is Eula and Arlecchino. In fact, most of the women also kind of have the same face, just that Hoyo did well in giving them huge differences and hid them well. I'm honestly biased towards Genshin's design but I will also be honest that they also have the same face syndrome hidden by good design and visual clarity, you almost won't see it if you didn't look enough (mostly because of resinless behavior). I also suspect the reason why you don't really connect with WuWa's design is because you are used to Hoyoverse's designs, which honestly I also have biases towards. The only WuWa character I like design wise is Lingyang coz he looks closest to Hoyo's design. I would also argue Verina and Encore can fit in Genshin or HSR. Male Rover is even argued by many to look so similar to Caelus and Dan Heng. It's probably just the Adults being off-putting because they do look and feel more older than Genshin's.
@@lionelmarcussolaris2858 i respect your take but for i have to disagree with the eula and arlecchino cuz you can tell their stand on the teyvat world are they good or bad and i mean cmon arlecchino has a god damn big old ( X ) ( X ) at her eyes for me at least thats a huge difference and doesnt give off this same face syndrome feeling well for thoma and childe i do kinda of agree in a sense where you kind of need to know them first in order to know the diffrence between the two character and has this slight same face syndorme feeling and i also have to disagree about the whole i'am used to the genshin style cuz i played Girls frontline 2 and their 3d model again at least for me has no same face syndrome feeling and it is a different style of its own. But overall fair take
Perhaps, but this is Kuro. PGR has shown us that their top tier at designing interesting characters. Visuals are skin-deep, wait before you engage with their stories and personalities.
ToF had potential than Genshin and WuWa just wasn't polished and was released too early. I picked ToF w their: 1. Combat Function 2. Character Customization 3. Mount 4. Better map (Open World Exploration) But the again that's it... If they polised the fluiditiness I and Story I think ToF is much solid than the two Gatcha game in my Opinion.
As someone who played TOF for a year wuwa feels so slow in mobility. The problem with TOF is that it is not optimized well on mobile which made me quit. No matter how good the game is, if it's always stuttering then it's bad.
Keep yapping about time gate all the time. For those who never play mmorpg this time gate also happen in other mmorpg game. The purpose of time gate is to make sure all player in the same server leveling at the same page to encourage player to help others. This time gate only happen to NEW SERVER. After that no more time gate experience to old server. TOF keep improving and they also listen to the player but most of those who quit after 1 month release keep doompost the game as bad. Idc you already quit why bother to comment and talk trash about the game when you don't see the effort of dev to improve the game. FYI you should make video compare WuWa with Genshin because they both same genre which is single player rpg. That game is more accurate to compare with. Leave TOF alone since the game still playable as free game to download.
if yall want another open world gacha game and devs that actually listen then i recommend project mugen from my knowledge it doesn’t have a set release date but so far it seems that they’re actively working with the players ( i mean not technically players more like people )
Wuthering Waves cannot beat Genshin Impact. The sole reason is they didn't fix any of Genshin's issues and the characters are not interesting. It's still another game you can sink your teeth into at least until you hit the F2P brick wall of progression.
1, The genshin killer thing was fake. the guy who said it got sued. 2. ToF is an MMO. They make millions monthly. how is that a failure? 3, Are you comparing a Single player game to a full fledged MMO?
and even as an MMO it fails. where's the community? how many players have still played the game? when was the last time we see multiple players grinding open world for more than 10-20 players with zero lags? we had something like FF14, Black Desert Online, Guildwars2, WoW etc. check the players online and compare.
with Tencent holding 40% of Kuro's Wuthering Wave stock, you can bet your ass Kuro will try their hardest to copy MHY and try to carve out/retain some of the Genshin playerbase. though with the specs requirement being mid to high, I doubt many casuals, ps4 or mobile gamer would continue to play WW after the initial weeks to 3 month try when Natlan arrives.
Many people also foget that ToF released shortly before Lost Ark global, and a lot of players, me included, played ToF as a waiting room for it. Me and my group of friends never thoughted that ToF would be a huge thing, and It wasnt, it got superinflated however because of LA
Lost Ark is another " genshin killer" that tanked within 3 months after release, sadly. It would be about time that YoYoverse sweats bullets, but so far, no luck. Fingers crossed for WuWa.
hahhaha i cant believe you still remeber this, also the bugs when tof released was too many, it was a good game but sadly they fell off deeply and lost a lot of players before they can improve their game, so its basically ☠️ due to a lot of competition
I agree ,i was the first one finished with the crafting island ,but i was f2p . i couldnt cope with my guild mates anymore ,they all spend around 10k . the gear gap got bigger and bigger ,because if you got max every week on the weekly/dailys plus you buy the upgrade materials for gear (with IRL money) after the gear ISLAND I only did like /20/30/40m Dmg compared to my guildmates doing 200m in the same time . I know the issue and feeling to reliable to play with someone that had p2w maxed out stuff to get all the drops . because there was the possibility to miss out . after months of grinding i felt to stressed out on missing out anything and the gap getting bigger and bigger .
After you finish the exploration in WuWa it's gonna be a lonely world..yes there is echo thing then like genshin equip farm but still empty, then wait next update. While ToF we have Chat and Fury to keep everything alive.
ToF footage in this video is way too old, ToF main problem is powercreep and p2w, it has little to none resemblance with WuWa. Tof is actually a pretty successful game with a small and dedicate playerbase and little expense. It just not possible for WuWa to fail, will it be as huge as Genshin, only time will tell.
I never played TOF but WuWa is quite good but my personal opinion is that both TOF & WuWa are cliche in “another land base game” at some point it’s gets boring because EVERYONE does it and never a inner city base urban style game, which is why I think if this NTE game is anything like these two put together it will blow up quick. I just now noticed that TOF is made from the dev of “HOTTA” switch made ZZZ and now bringing NTE so they are moving to the right and different direction, just need to take their time but do believe they are a small company can grow.
MMORPG tend to be all over the place and not much on story like RO, Cabal, Tera, even on FF14 where you will just skip through the story since you have lots of stuff to do and no time to lag behind or else others will get there first or youll be left behind
I do imagine WuWa will grab the attention of those who desire hard fights with a tad bit more complicated combat. While Genshin will retain the attention of those who want to just chill.
TOF is so messy in many ways and I wasn’t able to connect with the characters as much as I ran through the storyline. Idk that game needs a whole rework in certain aspects as much as I love the concept of their character combat designs, very unique in the gacha game category. Potential is there certainly but 😅😅 WuWa I can already tell had more work put into it. TOF devs don’t even understand their own combat system.
seems Sekiro shadow die twice had an impact on the game community, hell when i watch someone play Stellar Blade, i was convinced that the Descendent of Sekiro has isekaied to Nier Automata world XD
you forgot to mention 2 key aspects ( pointed out in WuWa CBT1 and 2) that can spell trooubles for WuWa : 1) extremely low ingame resources to level up/build characters 2) hard capped stamina system. 2 of the most annoying factors that have been the main complain from genshin players. Unless Kuro plans to truly improve those 2 factors, players have no reason to play another hyper frustrating game, regardless of ToF existence and failures. But let's hope Kuro cooks something.
Honestly i really don’t see why a game has to be a “genshin killer,” like genshin isn’t going away, and wuthering waves is probably not going to go away. That for me is good. There should be competitors not killers.
WuWa > ToF > Genshin, especially when it comes to combat, you cannot say otherwise. Genshin was the best, then ToF took the crown, and now I'm thinking WuWa will take it, we'll see in a few months and the one year anni, lol. I love all three, played Genshin for years, ToF over a year, and now WuWa. Genshin is the easiest game out of the three, it's not even funny. Nothing in that game is hard. Genshin d-riders that hate on WuWa are just either mad, or they can't dodge/parry so they cry.
There is no skill mechanic in ToF. Only Grind mechanics that will keep you farming and Endgame contents designed to check your stats, with the sole exception being the monthly raid, which barely scratches the level of other MMO raids. Played for a full year and a half. Fight me.
I would agree if I played ToF as long but I gave up. Maybe because in my experience, the gameplay was buggy and messy for me despite having good specs and internet connection. Like the dodge timing feels out of place most of the time. Sometimes I dodge very early and get a matrix, other times not. Then when I thought I dodged perfectly, my health bar suddenly showed damage. Then there are cases where I see the enemy getting ready to attack but suddenly I'm damaged when the animation isn't even finished yet. The only good thing I had for this game was getting Zero at max constellations (or whatever it's called) without spending. But alas I gave up on it because it felt as grindy if not more than Genshin.
For me the bad about tof is the weapon over power creep and the sr weapon is usless And even you have ssr weapon for now but after 2 or 3 months you weapon will be powerless Even the old weapon you have the 6star vs new weapons 1star (sama element) the new weapon always 10x better
Tof is good tho the company is shit made me quit. Insane powercreep and p2w. No catchup mechanics or incentive for new players to join and casual to not feel left out. Tons of bugs rereleased into the game.
Exactly. The only way to catch up is to play on release and never stop. Heck, the fact that I didn't play for a week or two and I'm already behind so far which just makes it frustrating to go back.
I was hoping wuwa will have a better multiplayer experience. But seeing some gameplay, it does not seem to be the case. Echos hunting is the only thing thats coop in the game....
Watching the TOF1.0 video, not the latest version, makes the creator feel like it's not taking much care of it. If you're talking about the difference in quality at the beginning of the opening, that would be a valid point, but the material of the video doesn't seem convincing at all. Is this just a stimulating video to raise more views? Or is it to stoke discord between fandom? It's not right for someone who doesn't know the game to analyze that
to me TOF is way better than Genshin and animations and gameplay also seem better than WW, although i have to play WW first to make my final judgement.
The video its outdated the comparison doesn't represented the actuality of the game wich they both changed drastically TOF got recently a very good updates. And people its comming back due to the hard work of the developers.
tof was ok, its problem: its like super hard to play and progress thru things, u need like a whale to carry you thru the hard grinding stuff to farm for powerful gear to just tackle the new region stuff. i think i didnt upgrade my wrld lvl cuz i didnt want to have to spend so much time just to fight mob enemies and theyre still kinda strong. if they reigned in the difficulty and reliance on other players who'll usually need to be stronger than u, i might still be playing it. (edit: suffers from power creep. power creep isnt an issue as long as weak units can still reasonably complete and strong units still have a bit of challenge; aka keeping some balance in mind. tof doesnt have this) the problem with gi is it was never fully realized from the beginning, it had a bright future but they squandered it, prolly do to its lucky well timed release and success, it is stale, mostly boring, combat is un evolving, they shy away from combat being more complex cuz of normies, and has an interesting ok story thats painful and boring to play thru. all of these games are gacha so hardly worth considering them "video games." wuwa is just another addition to the collection. i personally stay away from hype and news, just forget about it and lo its already here, wow that was fast. ill try it until azur promilia or whatever, gacha palworld lol, hoping its as lewd and monetized like azur lane. daily missions giving pulls, yes plural. decent to good rates while still having pity, yo imagine that. the mechanic is already trash, we dont do trade offs. and, as of recent in terms of the games run time, so much oil i hardly know wut to do with it all. gacha stamina systems need to die tho. if i can pull myself together, i would make a waifu gacha game like these, but run like helldivers 2. frick esrb, and i would make any type of char from traps, lolies, eldritch abominations, to frick it maybe even... bara🤢. the only things that will be hard paid locked would prolly be any super lewd stuff like skins, just as a barrier for younger audiences if any.
This game is coming out with 3 end game modes while the other game has one in almost 4 years. LMAO. SINCE WUTHERING WAVES IS COMING OUT, NOW THERE'S A RUMOR OF A SECOND END GAME MODE ? WHAT HAPPENED TO ANXIETY? LMAO
The idea of 'failure' is centered more around what the game could have been, launching with 200 million players and successfully retaining them would have been huge!
this video is so unserious and so rage baited, cause why are you comparing a single player game to a mmo and secondly WHY ARE YOU using tof 1.0 footage, the game has improve incredbily and like you said the game developers lacked experience but now they have the experience, after they game successfully been alive for 2 years, after yall said it is a dead game and said that the game will shut down soon, but yet us the tof community is still on our toes and we aint going nowhere, tof ain't going no where, and sense yall wanna compare 😩 tof combat and world exploration is better, and wuwa ain't touching us and never will i played genshin for 3 years and tof 2 so tried me 😘 muah no bars
In my opinion, WuWa has much better UI than ToF, somehow ToF UI is too much menu, complicated and for mobile player the UI is so small, compared to WuWa, it has simple and practical UI. Personally, I'm comfortable with WuWa UI I've played WuWa since day 1 official global release, and I've just played ToF for 3 hours. *I never played Genshin
Imma be honest, you can word vomit all you want and absolutely glaze the game. But like PGR (which i think just got a pc Port) is the ability to play this on something other than phones. After playing all the action, mmo, there is one thing that secures longevity even if the game is ass... playing it on PC or consoles
Idk why people comparing an MMO to a single player game plus why are you using footage of 1.0 version?? Game is almost 4.0 with better characters, combat, exploration etc. Feels like unfair comparisons.
I agree with you, but I don't think the goal here was to be fair. It's rather a jump on the WuWa Hypetrain. Which is understandable, RUclipsrs need to generate views after all.
Haven't watched the entire video yet, but from my experience, tower of fantasy just feels INCREDIBLY rushed. The game was trying too hard to hop on the genshin hype, so there was little thought behind the mechanics and how it affected the game as a whole. ToF is like, "Hey, what do genshin players want so we can put it in our game and advertise it as a genshin killer" WuWa took it's time, the company has experience with past games and they know what features work long term and what doesn't. WuWa isn't a genshin killer, it's a strong genshin competitor. Im not even planning to play this game cuz it might genuinely kill my phone but it looks so polished i can't even believe people compare it to ToF
The game feels rushed because it was rushed. The publisher back in CN wanted to release the game right away due to a licensing issue. If not released, they'd have had to wait a whole year to do so. Basically the devs were implementing the feedback from beta 2 when the publisher showed up with a "I'll give you half a year" or something, which forced devs to go through a year+ of development in a few months. Also the "genshin killer" thing wasn't official advertising, or any advertising for that matter. It was a comment made by a bilibili genshin content creator to his community. It got caught by gaming media who turned it into "tof is genshin killer". An accidental game of telephone.
They try to add features in almost all aspects so it's kinda surprising in a good way
Ngl for an open world it has a dry world in terms of content 😅
If only their goal is to make open world just for running around for no reason
@@ProkerKusaka maybe in the older areas but in Domain 9, some players even quit due to the overwhelming number of items that should be collected (field energy). I also found out recently that these respawn.
@@genshinfinity it was due to after CBT1 people was complaini g that there is too much content in open world so devs leterally halfed chests and puzzles and doubled rewards. I really dont understand who in their mind dislike actual content lol.

Ofc someone with Qiqi pfp say Wuwa is TOF 2.0
Definition of resinless behavior, lmao 😂
HEY :( i was a qiqi main when i played genshin and i don't think that way at all :(
The fact that kuro has always listened to it's community and show just how much passion they truly have for their game is pretty much the whole reason I became a fan of their work
I'm so happy to see this small company go big from pgr to wuwa
MEH.
I mean, you Can critizise the performance issues, but the multi player for exploration and storie is incredible
i remember gateoo says 50 not 30 for the developer team, but they didn't upscalled staff tho where's did you get info from?
kurogames and hoyo have been rivals since honkai
I'm confident WuWa release will be a successful release 💯👍
Its funny why WW community is so sensitive about this topic. Genshin was Doomposted like shit when it released so everyone calm down.
Because the Genshin community is being hypocritical. @@banir3736

Yeah, MMO experience is different because you share the world like in real life
Agreed....it gets tiring watching ppl compare tof with other games and are not active players in it and just say dated things
yeah agree, i play tof so long and play wuwa almost 1 and half week everyday and yeah it's so diferent
What u mean eho is better ?@@qawiyrasyidrafi3103
True. I only played ToF for 4 months, but it only felt like a time skip story with no explanation of how we met some of the SSR characters in the first place.
that's what threw me off, like why weren't the standard SSR characters lore relevant? Who were they?
11:04 While i get we're talking about Genshin specifically here, HSR's team actually does listen to their playerbase, so generalizing all of Hoyo hurts any argument being made.
That said, Genshin's literal refusal to add end game to their game is a ridiculous stance lol. Took them 4 versions to add QoL stuff that should have been there before moving on to 2.x and beyond.
Funnily enough, Genshin's rumored to be updating Abyss and are planning to make a new Endgame mode. Many speculate it's because of WuWa coming out since the rumors only started this month. I doubt Genshin would do it if they weren't threatened by WuWa.
now... they refused to implement endgame because of players might get overwhelmed and anxiety. tbh cant blame them the game is mostly for kids
(My own experience, and I also played ToF since the beginning)
sounds like u have skill issues in tof.....I have an alt account that is f2p and yes it's harder to kill harder content but it is possible
@@AwoopEheJust admit that you couldn't understand how everything worked, which is why you quit
man, ToF just can't take a break can't we? we're just happily playing our games as MMO and distancing ourselves from these "single player open world games" and yet people still shitting on ToF, a completely different game.
oh well, im happily waiting for 4.0 tho
i just watched the whole video and ofcos y'all still comparing shit to 1.0 ToF, not even surprised anymore
(Well i still read the main quest that i find interesting sometime and short enough to not reduce my fun)
I never encountered big bugs or hack.
I've tried to come back to ToF after stopping since I got stuck on a certain level and can't even find people to coop with me because I'm far too behind. i played tof and was really hyped when it was released and grinded it like crazy and i was really worried and wuwa would be simular and didnt want that to happen but now that you mention these points im convinced that it is NOT going to be the same experience. looking forward to the game
Do you still think WuWa doesn’t have optimization issues? 😅😂😂
Yep, the optimization is sucks ass just like tof, but at least dev seem still has more passion than tof's dev. However, I feel like I'm neither of their target demographic since I only have low-end device
It has, but that's something the devs CAN and hopefully, will fix.
(Only one week and they still haven’t figured out how to stop that the game is crashing down, lagging etc.)
They should be glad to lose costumers? What kinda business practice is that? 😅🤣🤣🤣 Most gacha gamers are mobile players, hardcore PC players with gaming PC’s are not their main audience and they will not stay after they squeezed out all of the content. So having a bad start for mobile players is actually the WORST thing that could happen to them. And honestly the rewards are good, but they show to which degree they had messed up. And to me it’s also a sign of weakness. I don’t know where if they can make a change till ZZZ comes out, but with every passing day that the performance issues aren’t solved they lose more and more costumers.
Comparing mmo with single player open world... Amazing video 😂😂😂😂😂
He comparing about gatcha and same element
excellent video. informative, good pacing, relevant clips and screenshots, and you make a persuasive argument. nice work.
I think the biggest problem with TOF is the fact that the SR's were completely pointless. Absolutely zero reason to ever use them. So the only thing that you looked forward to when pulling is the SSR's. WW you can use the weapons for fodder, has some okay 3*'s for F2P, and the 4* characters actually have insane value.
danjin sweep hologram solo in cbt2 is insane lmao
I think you need to understand how different games work.
SR characters weapons only for beginner players to help them til they get an SSR, ToF is an MMO not single player where SR character is needed for team building like Genshin or WuWa. In ToF you mostly aim to get an SSR.
@@scarletwarlock9325 It's also, P2w.
@getout9728 No. I am f2p since launch and the game is very generous with rewards. I have all the characters i want just being f2p.
That is a clueless take 4* are for coop content still important because they have a huge buff for the full Team xD
ToF is an amazing game, it would be a pity to miss it just because some bad review.
Tower of Fantasy is a totally different game from WuWa and Genshin. For starters, its more an MMO, while Genshin and WuWa are more single player
I still can't be ask as there was one map for maybe 6 months with more maps added which feel like way too much to enjoy trying to play tof again 😂
wuwa have so much to be gacha game of the year boy🔥🔥🔥
I think a lot of the things you discussed about ToF are lacking context. For example, raiding in ToF on mobile isn’t bad at all. It depends on the device and connection. You can edit your settings to display no more than 5 players.
This is a great vid but I feel you are lacking an outro in your vids. Adding one would put a cherry on top of your vid! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks for the feedback! I'll see what I can do for my future videos.
I pray and believe that wuthering waves will have a succesful global release cause i don't want to back playing hoyoverse's games
WuWa is killing it now. Amazing game.
what people who compares wuwa with tof dont see is that kurogames is doing exactly the same thing "mihoyo" did to elevate themselves to the world stage. they both had good action rpg before delving their hands into open world stuff. kuro has pgr which is good for me personally. and hoyo had hi3 before genshin. and about people saying the world in wuwa looks bland, do they even understand the atmosphere difference. wuwa is going for a more dark route while genshin had that vibrant feel to it. a much needed escape for people struggling with the pandemic. they released at a very opportune time. and for people who say wuwa is tof 2.0, do they even know the difference of genres. tof is mmorpg. wuwa is not mmo. its pgr but open world. i just hope kuro doesnt become as much predatory as hoyo has become these days. pgr had 100% rate ups for debut characters. and you could get the weapon anytime since its not time limited. in wuwa character banner will be same as hoyo games but weapon banner 100% so basically reverse of pgr. anyway in the end, speculations are just speculations. when time passes and it doesnt get popular, they'll still have the pgr fanbase playing wuwa
0::43 literally what i'm saying here. for me, i had never compared tof and genshin since they're both games of diffrent genres but very similar. and i had tried the game myself.
bro said weathering waves 😂
Tof could have been great if only the devs were competent. On the other hand, cant wait for wuwa! Lets goooo!
I picked ToF w their:
1. Combat Function
2. Character Customization
3. Mount
4. Better map (Open World Exploration)
But the again that's it...
If they polised the fluiditiness I and Story I think ToF is much solid than the two Gatcha game in my Opinion.
i still play tof till today i can tell you most of that's fotage not at tof anymore, the UI and mechanic all change
As someone who played TOF for a year wuwa feels so slow in mobility. The problem with TOF is that it is not optimized well on mobile which made me quit. No matter how good the game is, if it's always stuttering then it's bad.
the only reason genshin survive back then was bcuz of the covid. we stuck in house nothing to play. im not even hook to the lore until inazuma.
Very nicely put
I am surprised he didn't say anything about tof ui and how janky it was to play on console
if yall want another open world gacha game and devs that actually listen then i recommend project mugen from my knowledge it doesn’t have a set release date but so far it seems that they’re actively working with the players ( i mean not technically players more like people )
Wuthering Waves cannot beat Genshin Impact.
COPE
and even as an MMO it fails. where's the community? how many players have still played the game? when was the last time we see multiple players grinding open world for more than 10-20 players with zero lags? we had something like FF14, Black Desert Online, Guildwars2, WoW etc. check the players online and compare.
with Tencent holding 40% of Kuro's Wuthering Wave stock, you can bet your ass Kuro will try their hardest to copy MHY and try to carve out/retain some of the Genshin playerbase. though with the specs requirement being mid to high, I doubt many casuals, ps4 or mobile gamer would continue to play WW after the initial weeks to 3 month try when Natlan arrives.
40%? Last time I've heard, it was only 14%.
Well explained and succinct take down of this misinformed and potentially malicious argument. You earned yourself a sub, keep it up!
Kuro knows what it’s doing.
Proceeds to have to rework 90% of the story.
That face they didn’t see this problem has me worried.
In the end wuwa is worse on release than tower of fantasy lul
Yea. Cause lag and small glitches are sooo much worse than hackers deleting peoples accounts and assets. 💀
hahhaha i cant believe you still remeber this, also the bugs when tof released was too many, it was a good game but sadly they fell off deeply and lost a lot of players before they can improve their game, so its basically ☠️ due to a lot of competition
time gating exploration in an open world game in actually insane lmao
If not for TOF getting a major overhaul in the next update, i'd agree
TOF was unoptimzed and all over the place. Combat was fun for a while , but it feel off fast after the crafting island thing.
I agree ,i was the first one finished with the crafting island ,but i was f2p .
i couldnt cope with my guild mates anymore ,they all spend around 10k .
the gear gap got bigger and bigger ,because if you got max every week on the weekly/dailys plus you buy the upgrade materials for gear (with IRL money)
after the gear ISLAND
I only did like /20/30/40m Dmg compared to my guildmates doing 200m in the same time .
I know the issue and feeling to reliable to play with someone that had p2w maxed out stuff to get all the drops .
because there was the possibility to miss out .
after months of grinding i felt to stressed out on missing out anything and the gap getting bigger and bigger .
I like your content. you deserve a new subscriber.
Probably moreso from 4.0, because it seems to be a jump into the past(?) to save Shirli
I just now noticed that TOF is made from the dev of “HOTTA” switch made ZZZ and now bringing NTE so they are moving to the right and different direction, just need to take their time but do believe they are a small company can grow.
this title can be misunderstood in a very wrong way
MMORPG tend to be all over the place and not much on story like RO, Cabal, Tera, even on FF14 where you will just skip through the story since you have lots of stuff to do and no time to lag behind or else others will get there first or youll be left behind
Mention your discord in videos more . You never know , maybe your server will be the second biggest after the official wuwa server.
I've got some exciting things coming up for the discord very soon!
@@saintontas ❤️
GI are just mad about new game is more better than theirs 🤣😂
how can you say better when not yet official release. with copy paste genshin UI, text font, 50 50 mechanic . also ww story got revamp better you say
tbh i like tof combat and that only. The animations for combat are pretty nice
TOF didn't die tho. You just didn't stay lol. Making millions off banners still tf
seems Sekiro shadow die twice had an impact on the game community, hell when i watch someone play Stellar Blade, i was convinced that the Descendent of Sekiro has isekaied to Nier Automata world XD
ToF is also janky as hell. I stopped playing shortly after it’s release largely because of that.
Exactly. I thought having good specs and internet was enough to make it feel good but it just felt rushed.
you forgot to mention 2 key aspects ( pointed out in WuWa CBT1 and 2) that can spell trooubles for WuWa : 1) extremely low ingame resources to level up/build characters 2) hard capped stamina system.
Wuthering waves is a good game. But that is it. Nothing outstanding, not amazing, not a Genshin killer… just a much welcomed good game.
Lack of criteria in gachas.
As someone who played TOF, at least WW didn’t reset my account. That’s why I quit TOF and not returning to it.
bro i heard nothing the bg music was so fire i kept bobbing my head
aged like a milk
And this aged worse😅
This is going to be successful
WuWa > ToF > Genshin, especially when it comes to combat, you cannot say otherwise. Genshin was the best, then ToF took the crown, and now I'm thinking WuWa will take it, we'll see in a few months and the one year anni, lol. I love all three, played Genshin for years, ToF over a year, and now WuWa. Genshin is the easiest game out of the three, it's not even funny. Nothing in that game is hard. Genshin d-riders that hate on WuWa are just either mad, or they can't dodge/parry so they cry.
This is super cope
@@tranquility6789 please explain lmao. I wanna see what you have to say to this "cope" post. I'll wait.
ToF also came when genshin hadn't developed a history of fuck ups and disappointments
ToF looks so ugly and cheap to me too, WW is much prettier and has less UI crowding your screen all the time. It looks a lot higher budget than ToF
because it is a lot higher budget than TOF
Wuwa took the combat playstyle in PGR which is fast paced and hard boss fights. If you played Pgr you'll know. 💀
I played both and still do so
Despite people considering tof as a failure it still made half a billion dollars since its release
For me the bad about tof is the weapon over power creep and the sr weapon is usless
And even you have ssr weapon for now but after 2 or 3 months you weapon will be powerless
Even the old weapon you have the 6star vs new weapons 1star (sama element) the new weapon always 10x better
It's not right for someone who doesn't know the game to analyze that
it does seem a lot like Tower of Fantasy in some aspects
to me TOF is way better than Genshin and animations and gameplay also seem better than WW, although i have to play WW first to make my final judgement.
(edit: suffers from power creep. power creep isnt an issue as long as weak units can still reasonably complete and strong units still have a bit of challenge; aka keeping some balance in mind. tof doesnt have this)
the problem with gi is it was never fully realized from the beginning, it had a bright future but they squandered it, prolly do to its lucky well timed release and success, it is stale, mostly boring, combat is un evolving, they shy away from combat being more complex cuz of normies, and has an interesting ok story thats painful and boring to play thru.
all of these games are gacha so hardly worth considering them "video games." wuwa is just another addition to the collection. i personally stay away from hype and news, just forget about it and lo its already here, wow that was fast. ill try it until azur promilia or whatever, gacha palworld lol, hoping its as lewd and monetized like azur lane. daily missions giving pulls, yes plural. decent to good rates while still having pity, yo imagine that. the mechanic is already trash, we dont do trade offs. and, as of recent in terms of the games run time, so much oil i hardly know wut to do with it all. gacha stamina systems need to die tho.
if i can pull myself together, i would make a waifu gacha game like these, but run like helldivers 2. frick esrb, and i would make any type of char from traps, lolies, eldritch abominations, to frick it maybe even... bara🤢. the only things that will be hard paid locked would prolly be any super lewd stuff like skins, just as a barrier for younger audiences if any.
LMAO
ToF Still makes hundreds of millions of dollars. If that is failure then I'm down with that.
The idea of 'failure' is centered more around what the game could have been, launching with 200 million players and successfully retaining them would have been huge!
@@saintontas 200 million? 😲😲
@DarleenSchool-ns9ri "could have"
Breaking News: Water is Water
I actually wanted to see a comparison to TOF which i also happened to quit. Thanks for making this video. I feel more like trying WW now
this video is so unserious and so rage baited, cause why are you comparing a single player game to a mmo and secondly WHY ARE YOU using tof 1.0 footage, the game has improve incredbily and like you said the game developers lacked experience but now they have the experience, after they game successfully been alive for 2 years, after yall said it is a dead game and said that the game will shut down soon, but yet us the tof community is still on our toes and we aint going nowhere, tof ain't going no where, and sense yall wanna compare 😩 tof combat and world exploration is better, and wuwa ain't touching us and never will i played genshin for 3 years and tof 2 so tried me 😘 muah no bars
In my opinion, WuWa has much better UI than ToF, somehow ToF UI is too much menu, complicated and for mobile player the UI is so small, compared to WuWa, it has simple and practical UI. Personally, I'm comfortable with WuWa UI
I've played WuWa since day 1 official global release, and I've just played ToF for 3 hours.
*I never played Genshin
The story in tof is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than wuwa. But the graphics of wuwa are very good.
Based off what? Lol. Tof story is trash.
@@TraySucksAtRoblox lol clueless hoyo shill spotted. You don't recognize good story. Go pick mint.
GIVE ME THE DAMN GAME ALREADY KURO 😩😩😩
Imma be honest, you can word vomit all you want and absolutely glaze the game. But like PGR (which i think just got a pc Port) is the ability to play this on something other than phones. After playing all the action, mmo, there is one thing that secures longevity even if the game is ass... playing it on PC or consoles
Only 2k views?? I thought I was watching a famous youtuber 😭😭😭😭
Whoever in kuro said pokemon x genshin, was a genius
Haven't watched the entire video yet, but from my experience, tower of fantasy just feels INCREDIBLY rushed. The game was trying too hard to hop on the genshin hype, so there was little thought behind the mechanics and how it affected the game as a whole. ToF is like, "Hey, what do genshin players want so we can put it in our game and advertise it as a genshin killer"
WuWa took it's time, the company has experience with past games and they know what features work long term and what doesn't. WuWa isn't a genshin killer, it's a strong genshin competitor.
Im not even planning to play this game cuz it might genuinely kill my phone but it looks so polished i can't even believe people compare it to ToF
If you haven't watched the full video yet that is a pretty great summary! I cover pretty much all of those points in my breakdown.
@saintontas nice video man. I've only watched a few of your videos, but i love the formatting and writing. Good voice too
The game feels rushed because it was rushed.
Welp, one week after release and here we are
