I’m looking at buying a Gen 1 with 261,000 miles. This will be the first maintenance item I do. I had an ‘05, and never changed the oil. I didn’t think I needed to. Had to replace the tranny at around 125,000. New sub. 👍🏼
Congrats on the second one! Thanks for subscribing! Easy preventative maintenance goes a long long way on these cars. Imho this is the last generation of simple Toyotas that don’t have a ton of electronics to complicate things. Hope the videos help.
Solid video, Dude. gotta do this soon. I was told (by my JDM specialist guy) to replace manual transaxle fluid every 30K, so that's what I do on my xB & my son's Civic Si. I use Amsoil for both and use the holes you show in this video. I haven't used the bags though. I have a long funnel that has a large fill reservoir that I can block the flow, hold the end of the hose in the fill hole, then open the flow.
Hi, I'm stumped here. I thought the clutch was fed from a hose going to the master cylinder. Therefore it's actually brake fluid. Watched many videos and the Scion website. Please get back.
You are correct. Clutch fluid itself is brake fluid and is for the clutch itself Gear oil / transmission fluid for the manual transmission lubricates the moving components of the transmission Hope that makes sense. That’s the best of how I can think of putting it in words
This is perfect, Just bought an '04 manual toaster, when I asked about the transmission fluid the previous owners had said if wasn't done during regular maintenance it had never been done, so i'm thinking it needs done soon.... question: how tall are those race ramps?
Glad you enjoyed the diy! How many miles are on your xb? The race ramps are about 6” tall. Plenty enough to slide underneath without having to use jackstands. These come in handy for quick easy maintenance imho.
@@M2Motoring 140k, it runs well but I am thinking of doing some maintenance to it. According to the records 90 k was the last time it was in for routine service, any recommendations as to the things I should be thinking about?
Definitely all fluids, oil, trans, coolant. Would check the condition of the radiator cap and hoses as well make sure they’re good. If the spark plugs haven’t been done you can do that as well. Aside from that I think you should be good. This car is super simple to work on. We are approaching summer and some preventative maintenance is always cheap insurance 👍🏻
Hi to my understanding there is not. Just drain and refill get oil in your manual transmission. I change mine every 30k miles and it comes out pretty clear still.
Hi. That I’m honestly not sure on . The process itself would be the same, but the location of the plugs maybe a little different. If anything, I think it should be very similar to the same as the first gen tC process (same drivetrain) Here’s a link to the video and hope it helps ruclips.net/video/9_RSbhRR3XI/видео.htmlsi=7QjDZdZXayyOkpcK
Why not fill at the reverse position sensor on top of the gear box? You already removed your stock air filter box; you should be able to remove the sensor without removing anything else first.
Thank you for the video. Just bought a 2004 xB manual. Im relatively new to diy car care but am looking forward to it.
You’re welcome! Congrats on your new purchase. Hope my content helps. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

Thanks for posting this my man! I’m redoing my 1st Gen right now and this is next on the list!
You’re welcome! Glad it’s of help.
In the xb playlist there’s quite a few diys with more to come .
Doing my Tacoma today and almost forgot about the bB! Looks super easy. Thanks!
How did it go?
Its easy 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks! Yes that method works too. The fill bags is super easy / lazy for me 😂.
Thanks for the video! I'm going to do the same thing I bought my Scion XB in GA and know is in Puerto Rico and is time to do oil change thanks again!
You’re welcome! Glad the video helps !
@@M2Motoring Thanks!
Thank so much for the video!
How do I change my lower transmission,/motor mount on my 2006 Scion XB
You’re welcome! Tbh I haven’t done it yet on a xb but when I do I’ll make a video .
It was quite easy. Thanks
Glad the video helped you! Thanks for watching
Thanks very helpful
You’re welcome! Glad you found it useful

You didn’t put any stopper behind the tire in case of the car rolling backward?
I guess I didn’t / forgot to. Always chalk the tires 👍🏻

Is there any transmission fluid filter for a 06 Xb manual?
Hi to my understanding there is not. Just drain and refill get oil in your manual transmission. I change mine every 30k miles and it comes out pretty clear still.
Does the 2nd generation XB have the same setup? I have a manual 110K miles and never changed the transmission fluid once.

I thought you supposed to put the car on floor level?
You can but I filled it via fluid capacity method.
What type of fluid atf+4 or atf t-iv
What year is your xB and does it burn oil and how often? Also, no transmission fluid came out of the fill hole, the spec is 2 quarts?
Hi my xb is an 06 with 195k miles . Mine burns about 1/2-1 quart every 5 k miles. And yes spec for fluid is 2 quarts
Now with the Gearbox Oil prolly needing change, would it create a whining noise??
Hi I have had zero issues with noise. I would recommend changing the fluid if you haven’t done it yet
Why not fill at the reverse position sensor on top of the gear box?
You already removed your stock air filter box; you should be able to remove the sensor without removing anything else first.
Hey! Is there a reason you like doing it this method versus filling the fluid from the top
Hi. For myself it’s easier as I don’t have a long funnel and I’m already “right there” if that makes sense
@@M2Motoring Thanks for the response man! I will try it your method next time. Not having to remove the airbox is nice.
You’re welcome! Glad you’re enjoying the content 👍🏻
suuuuuurreeee on the flatulent noises....whatever helps you sleep at night :D
😂😂😂😂😅
Does the manual tranny scion have a clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder
Yes
This video could be 6 minutes shorter if you edit out "but anyways" and "uh/uhm"... and your car isnt level so... did you overfill the trans?
Filled it by capacity recommendation via service manual
Let me see you make a video
