Truly one of my favorite historical dramas. No, wait, this might actually be my favorite one of all. I've watched Dong Yi before this drama, and I thought that was really, really great, but after I finished this drama several months ago, I have reconsidered and changed my mind. Words aren't enough! To those who haven't seen Dong Yi, I actually recommend watching this drama first... because, without ruining both the stories, it just makes more sense that way, and you really understand Jang Ok Jung's vileness in Dong Yi. Everything kind of just ties in all together in the end. More than anything, both actors here have such great chemistry, and they have done such a marvelous job portraying their characters. I have watched many historical dramas - recent and old ones - but nothing beats their chemistry! You'll constantly have the "feels" throughout the drama, even after! Be prepared! Ha. Wish I could live in this era and just watch how everything really unfolded.

The TRUE LOVE king had towards Okjung was portrayed perfectly. It makes every one believe in True Love. Please make tv shows like this one. Regards from Sri Lanka.
They are top to handle each role even every spot or gesture. If you watch the whole details, and you can tell they even control everything including what tone of voice. No wonder it is ranked in the top 10. How top a show!

im relieved after reading in wiki that king made a law of prohibiting the concubines to become a queen..and knowing that that wench ddnt even up her rank as a concubine. with out any doubt that in history thet really love each other ❤

Kim Tae Hee did an excellent performance as Jang Ok Jung. After all, she endured all hardships, harsh life forces her to be stronger to survive and of course, she changed.I feel sympathetic to her, a woman dares sacrifice for her love.

The first & last kdrama that make me cry 😭. Watched dong yi also but this is the best.But I hate the ending.When I saw a pic of Ah in , I feel sad everytime because of this. Tae hee & Yoo Ah In made there roles perfectly without any arguments .❤️ That choi girl is the worst one.Finally okjung said that she would come again to end the love.When Ah In said that Ok - jung is not in this world anymore , that make me empty 😭. Perhaps the wisest king portrayal in all history of saeguks. Yoo Ah In truly made us all think that he meant serious business... he did not come to play. His chemistry with Kim Tae Hee was really one for the books. We wept, laughed, and fell in love just watching them. Truly makes it hard for us to forget.

One of my favorite saeguk! ❤ Yoo Ah In and Kim Tae Hee made me cry a river in this drama, they're so perfect here! 🤧💔 Anyway, I think this drama is somehow true at some points. No one knows what kind of girl Jang Hee Bin is before she started to be recorded as villanious consort in Joseon History. I agree that maybe her relationship with the king is not really political, they really love each other. I don't think that king Sukjong would deposed Queen Inhyun if it's wasn't for Lady Jang Hee Bin. And in the drama, it is shown that Jang Hee Bin became more insecure, chaotic and full of schemes after giving birth to the prince. I think she's suffering in post partum depression, we can see how chaotic her mind is as the show goes on. And her ambition to be the queen is the result of how scared she is that she someday she would be ignored by the king and her son would be left behind, being unwanted. She really became insecure in later episodes, and the drama made viewers understand Jang Hee Bin. I don't think the history lied about her being schemeful and evil, but nobody knows how's the life in king's harem. It would really drive your sanity away, aside from the fact that you have to share your husband with other girls, it would really make you question your worth and make you insecure in all the possible ways. In the drama, Jang Hee Bin's greatest fear is losing the king's love and her thinking about that is like stabbing her heart. 🤧 And also aside from her suffering mental health, being part of political faction also brought her to downfall. Even in Dong Yi and other filn depicting her life, she was being used by the faction to gain the king's favor and generosity (same with Queen Inhyun). I understand that Dong Yi and Queen Inhyun will be the bad girl here, but I just don't get why they made Dong Yi like a psycho and meddling. I can understand Queen Inhyun here, she endured all the sufferings the king and her father brought her, and it's normal that she would feel jealous of Jang Hee Bin because she is the lawful wife but she was being disrespected by her husband. King Sukjong is rude to her in all ways. But for Dong Yi, I think they didn't have to go that far just to make her a villain here. She was like the real power hunger in this drama and not Queen Inhyun or Lady Jang Hee Bin. Only Dong Yi's character is questionable and unjustifiable. She annoyed the hell out of me. Still kudos to the production team! ❤❤❤ I hope to see Yoo Ah In again in another binge watching series! ❤❤❤ And also, try to watch other Yoo Ah In historical drama; Chicago Typewriter and Six Flying Dragons ❤❤❤
Another good movie yoo ah in is in is “the throne” it’s about prince Sado ( the only crown prince of Joseon who was locked in a rice chest ) and his father Dong yi’s son yeongjo. Very sad
I still remember every inch of these story in my mind. I'm so obsessed with their beautiful and meaningful love story even the end it was too sad to accept however. I still put this drama top of my heart. ❤️ love in 2018 🐾

same however it was a historical drama so i kinda expected that but if they were to potray what really happen at that time their love probably will not be so touching as jang ok jung became really greedy after being the concubine so the king had another concubine after ok jung became queen n in the end bcos of her own greed the king killed her
My exact thoughts. Since I watched a couple of historical k-dramas, I should have expected the sad ending but in my mind, I really hope they would be able to get together! Everything was so perfect before Jang Ok Jung became queen. :(
I believe it's the best way they ended it that way, because if they happened to change the ending, A lot will be offended. I mean, imagine this is based on real-life, so it will surely be offensive if they changed how Jang Ok Jung lived/died.

woo.. i really didnt expect jang ok jung will die at eh end... i was too touched i even cried for too long because i didnt want their love to end like that... actually i regret watching it because of the end..
same however it was a historical drama so i kinda expected that but if they were to potray what really happen at that time their love probably will not be so touching as jang ok jung became really greedy after being the concubine so the king had another concubine after ok jung became queen n in the end bcos of her own greed the king killed her
when ok jung became the queen she became evil...i didnt like her personality... i dunno her personality became dark
My exact thoughts. Since I watched a couple of historical k-dramas, I should have expected the sad ending but in my mind, I really hope they would be able to get together! Everything was so perfect before Jang Ok Jung became queen. :(

I believe it's the best way they ended it that way, because if they happened to change the ending, A lot will be offended. I mean, imagine this is based on real-life, so it will surely be offensive if they changed how Jang Ok Jung lived/died.
