Even when watching the dub version, it is very important to turn on the subtitles for the Japanese text. If you had see those translations you would have seen the funny note Mitsuha wrote on Taki's phone, "Walked with Okudera, thanks to my feminine powers". And the first time Mitsuha falls asleep as Taki, she writes "Mitsuha" on her palm (actually Taki's palm). Then when they figure out what is going on, and start "laying down some ground rules", you would have seen "no baths, no touching, no dialect, etc." A very important one you missed was that Taki did not write his name at that last meeting. He wrote "I love you", which made Mitsuha start crying. Then 8 years later, bit screen TV reporting on the anniversary of the destruction of Itomori, the text said "No deaths, 104 wounded" and other things that confirmed that the people were indeed saved. Watch it again with these subtitles on and it will be a much better experience for you.

Oof so much context lost without translation. Handcrafted surprises in storytelling rendered useless without subs.

Happy to see you fell in love with this movie, Kemi. Btw, Taki wrote "I love you" on Mitsuha’s palm instead of his name.

I am so happy you watched this. Makoto Shinkai's films are masterpieces. I highly recommend Weathering with You, another masterpiece and of course, 5 Centimeters Per Second!

Although I prefer the Japanese version, because I consider it more accurate, I feel happy that you watched it... it is one of the movies that I like the most in anime... I think there are some other movies that you can't miss like "My Neighbor Totoro" from 1988 or "The boy and the heron" from 2023... beautiful movies too.... and since you like TV series you could watch "North and South" from 1985 with Patrick Swayze and a great cast.... and in anime you could watch "Frieren, beyond journey's end", which are only 28 episodes of 20 minutes each, so it's fast, I know that theres is in Japonese and in several more languages but once again I preferred the translated Japanese version, the original voices are better and the translation is quite good... anyway I think you'll enjoy some of those.... thanks for posting your reaction to this movie here... have a great day!

I love this movie, I turn into a sprinkler each time I watch it. So glad you liked it, you really seem to get the movie. Makoto Shinkai's next movie is also good, _Weathering with you_ (2019) about people who may have the power to change the weather. Would love it if you would react to it.

I am happy to see your reaction to this anime film miss K.S.O. Sorry I couldn’t see your live reaction on time, I was helping my grandma.
But overall wonderful reaction, I am glad see how anime opens your mind in imagination, critical thinking, and emotional moments. Anime truly think outside the box and find innovative ways to tell a story, also while symbolizing, setting up, and having connections with people in resemblance of one’s experience or struggle.
It is said that out of many of the country’s all over the world, in making animated films, the US and Japan are right away the ones on top because how much they make every year. Although again anime has a more advantage in its animation and storytelling.
There are still many anime films you still need to see, and I can’t wait for you to see and embrace when it warms your heart.

Not only that, if you go to Google Maps and type in the search bar, "Your Name Staircase", Google Maps will show you exactly where it is.

Ok, next on the anime suggestion (and I swear I won't do this again till you've finished at least 5 more movies on your upcoming list and complete at least 2 or 3 of your ongoing series):
Finish Death Note (just 17 episodes left I think)
Avatar: The Last Airbender (I think the anime is either 54 or 60 episode), the movie and the Netflix live action series - actually how should this go? Anime first, Live action series next, Movie last; Anime first, movie second and live action series last; live action series first, movie second, anime last; live action series first, anime series, movie last; movie first, live action second, anime last; or movie first, anime second and live action last)?
Either way I'm thinking see the whole thing to decide which one you like
One Piece Live Action (8 episodes) - and then decide if you like it enough to make the commitment to the still ongoing anime series (just reaching 1108 episodes - but each are roughly 20 minutes long with the opening and end credits, easy enough to fit 3-4 episodes in a session, not including the movies). Live action or anime though be forewarned, keep a notebook on hand because you'll need notes to keep up with everything, and have your tissue box ready to go (make it two in case you need a spare).
Is there anything in Studio Ghibli filmography list we haven't seen yet?
