Really great video. Thanks for taking the time to go into such detail. I just purchased the Blink Floodlight Camera and had trouble getting the flood light to work. Spoke with Blink support and they were useless telling me to replace the floodlight batteries which were brand new. The problem was that when I first added the camera to my app, the floodlight was not connected. Once I deleted the camera from my app, plugged in the floodlight and then added the camera (with floodlight plugged in), everything worked fine.
You are my hero for committing to wait out and test the usb recording without subscription! Thank you for doing it, and I’m looking forward to the results!
@@LifeHackster Thanks. My Blink cam motion detection get set off by anything blowing in the wind. (Trees, bushes, etc). In contrast, most motion sensor floodlights only get set off by warm things (like dogs, humans). This floodlight using the camera for motion detection is bad.
I already own the Outdoor so picked up the floodlight mount for £35. For the money it's fine, considering the Ring version is four times the cost. If you already own the Outdoor it's a no brainer.
Good video as always but if you already have floodlights near your camera then you don't need this. Since Blink's motion detection works as a trigger for alexa routines just put a smart switch on your outdoor lights.
I have 4 cameras. I use subscription plus have a large capacity memory card in the blink sync module. I haven't even come close to having storage issues except on the app but that just requires you to delete them. Those even deleted are saved on the memory card.
Pretty good demonstration & explanation but would've been better if the neighbor's glaring floodlights didn't cause blind spots in the distanced views.
I bought this months ago and none of us could get it to work. Blink did not bother helping either. Here I am months later trying again. Something just wasn’t connecting then. So hopefully this video helps, thanks!
Got 2 brand new flood light camera. But the lights have a 0 batery life. They will flash when I put the plate back on. Any thoughts?. Maybe new batery?

Question about the camera mount, snaps on, but the only thing keeping the camera from spinning in the wind is the plug, the ball on the mount is very tight but why doesn't the camera sit on the mount tightly, or am I missing something? And question 2 & 3, what is the round rubber piece that appears to fit in the back of the camera for, and the plastic key thing, other than unscrewing the big screw on the back of the camera, does that do anything else? What you don’t answer - is the motion detection of the light infrared-sensitive (like to human skin temperature), or do things like cars set it off?
PIR sensor detects heat movement and any heat source like humans and cars moving will set it off. Blink doesn't have AI human or vehicle detection.
