So their was a time in Ireland less than 30 years ago when the thoughts of a 2 state solution would never be possible. Bombings, murders, kidnappings happening every day. Recognising 2 states and the rights of each groups led to the good Friday agreement, which although far from perfect today has stopped the violence except for an odd clash. Hamas is not the Palestinian people just as Netanyahu is not the Israeli people. Children on both sides are innocent and we need to do everything possible to create a respectful future for them. People matter, not borders

How can Palestine have a representative in the UN, but it's not a member state in the UN?
The PLO had observation status for years. Jordan abandoned all claims to Palestine in favor of the PLO. Hamas defeated the PLO in the Gaza elections, but not in the rest of the area. So Palestine is actually run by two separate terrorist Muslim Arab organizations. The UN is insane.

I was required to read The Diary of Anne Frank in middle school, but I didn’t hear the word Nakba or learn any history of the Middle East until after Oct 7th, and that includes getting a university degree in religion.
My high school age child just had to spend 3 months in an American public school learning about the Holocaust, reading Elie Wiesel and watching Life is Beautiful, and in that 3 months, no mention was made about Palestine or what was happening in the Middle East at that time.
