Thank you and congratulations to all your prize winners. I am so sorry Kelly that you are unable to knit at the moment. It is always good to see your knits, your choice of patterns and yarn and to take the ideas away as inspiration. 🇬🇧
Happy New Year! I can't believe I have won that beautiful Knits n Pieces bag! I never win anything!! Thank you, ladies, for the wonderful prizes and the amazing podcast each week!
Listening to this made me decide to join at least the sock MAL. I knit socks all the time because they are easy to haul around and fairly mindless most of the time I am currently knitting a pair to use up some yarn leftovers in my stash before my new order arrives. 😊
Oh my,,,,❤❤❤ What a great show ,,,, I am so excited to win that beautiful bundle of colorful yarns from Leo and roxy🎉🎉🎉🎉 And my friend ,,,Sandi,,,win too,,,,,💕💕👍 I love socks ,,,and had made 50 pairs this year,,,, Thanks Kelly for remembering me from near Hanover,,llama lane knit shop,,,, even though we have never met💕💕 Elaine 🏠⛄
Hi Noelle and Kelly I don’t know if you will actually read this. But thank you for the newborn sock pattern recommendation Noelle. I will be making those for this Queensland winter for my new grandaughter . She was born on Friday 13 th December at 12.31 . 8 minutes before the ambulance arrived. So my son in law and I delivered bubs. So exciting for all of us . After a very quick 1 hour 15 minute labour . Well before the birth they had decided to name her Sabrina Paige. Sabrina from the movie with Audrey Hepburn, and Paige because I had always loved the name and so had my daughter. So ironically , Paige from the tv series charmed and Sabrina the teenage witch, was born ( names totally unplanned ) on Friday the 13 th. Our magical little girl.
That’s an amazing story, Sharon congratulations! Grand babies are the best and to have actually delivered her is such a wonderful gift. I hope you love the Newborn Sock pattern as much as i do. Enjoy your precious Sabrina Paige (beautiful name) ❤️
@ oh thank you. This is My sixth grandchild , and I was there for her big sister too, but in hospital birthing suite at mum and dad’s request. My eldest had four essential Caesarian’s . But this time I was just staying to look after the four year old for the birth , bubs had other ideas. All very exciting, and much to my son in laws relief I’m good under pressure. But he was amazing and so was my daughter. Not something I would recommend, but amazing to experience. :). And now I can knit socks, sadly in Queensland not many other items I can knit. It’s way too mild here for knitwear for babies, :)
Happy New Year. Earthtones Girl (Denise DeSantis) has some excellent sock knitting tutorials which include how to handle Magic Loop and laddering. Has worked very well for me.
I know folks have had some very cold weather and snow, we have heavy winds and fire here in Southern California. Trees are down, no power. They have turned some of our power off as safety precautions for fire. We have no idea when the power will be restored. We had two tree tops break off and our yard is full of debris.
Noelle, we just went to Norway, Sweden and Denmark last Sept/Oct - what a great trip - a little chillier and wetter than some of our trips, but so well worth it. The vistas are stunning. The big question is - with SO many yarn shops and SO much yarn - how many suitcases are you bringing?😂
I'm knitting with my Knitting Loft Boxing Day purchase...De Rerum Natura Gilliatt. I'm loving the feel of it. I'm using it to knit the Boxy Blue Raglan by Beth Macdonald Stone. I've also started a year-long Advent knit inspired by your KAL in 2024...I'm doing the MerryMint...already I can see I need a couple more colours of the Filcolana Arwetta from Galt House of Yarn.
Happy New Year!!! I’ve put my Kroy socks in the dryer a number of times and have not had any trouble. I don’t always dry them though, as I do want them to last. ;)
With regard to removing pills I am wondering if you have considered using a sweater stone? I can understand your frustration Kelly and do applaud your switch to crochet and perseverance to a full recovery.
The way I avoid ladders with magic loop is to hold the back cable up against the front needle as I’m knitting the first couple stitches. This takes out the slack and helps prevent ladder.
I cannot believe that You featured the tool made from the clay or wood, I made myself one from the clay 2weeks ago, I guess I'm not as smart as I thought I was! Happy that I made it and have it anyway, lol 😂
Thanks for your podcasts. I have always done my circular colour work with the 'right side' of the project on the inside; this means I am carrying the yarns on the outside of the circular project (hat, cowl, gloves, etc.). I actually find it awkward to have the right side of the project on the outside of the circular knitting needles.
Missed your lovely live podcast and catching up. In the middle of a moe so I’m attempting to keep my knitting simple with a pair of Heavy Socks with Briggs and Little Tuffy, which I should remember to enter in the sock along. Kelly you could cut the fingers off of a rubber glove to wear when mucking about in the kitchen (that’s what I do when wearing a thumb/wrist splint). Happy New Years!
Kelly I had to get my thumb joint replaced 2 years ago and had to wear a half cast wrapped somewhat like yours for several weeks. I’m a hospital nursing supervisor so really needed to keep it covered at home and at work cause well ewww I bought a pack of “6 packs arm cast cover elastic” the short size on amazon like for 15$ US worked perfect for helping keeping it cleaner
Happy New Year! Was wondering if you both grew up traveling? We didn't travel so much growing up so it is hard to imagine going all those different places! It sounds beautiful and exciting!
Woo Hoo! Happy New Year to Kelly and Noelle and the whole community, and lucky lucky me to have won some yarn!! You'll be happy to know that my daughter and her bf loved the teeny sock garland all stuffed with little vegan snacks. They were not perturbed that they got it late, started on the snacks as soon as they arrived, and planned to just continue with #1 after the 24th. As for further adventy stuff, I'm doing a personal challenge this year to draw one of my 1-skeiners out of a bag each month & make something with it. I may not use up all of 12 skeins but I'm going to make a dent. Kelly, hope your wrist is better so so soon! Cheers:)
Your podccast was great as always. As for the question about the alterenate cast-on using the long tail technique, I recently found a tutorial on a technique that alternates the Long-tail cast-on and the German twisted cast-on. The tutorial is : How To Knit A Combination Cast On: A Sock Shorty Tutorial by EarthtonesGirl. I have been using this technique on my latest socks. It is great : easy, nice and stretchy. And it can be used for any ribbing (1x1; 2x2; 3x1...) I recommend it.
Happy New Year to you both. Another incredible podcast. Love seeing what you are both working on. Kelly, nice to see you making gorgeous crochet items while you can’t knit. Hope the healing for you both is on the tail end. Have a great week.
Thanks for another great episode. I never put pictures of my knitting or crochet or sewing on instagram or facebook or ravelry because i dont want anyone criticizing my crafts. But im just about at the point to put some on. My work isn’t beautiful like you guys crafts. I love looking at everyones FOs and wips. It gives me so much inspitation. Which i why i have about 20 wips
Hi Barbara, a lot of knitters do a make 9 at the beginning of the new year. It is just a list of 9 projects that they would like to complete during the year.

The fimo clay is really fun to play with. I took some classes and learned to make different patterns.

I wash and dry all of my handmade socks - made with a variety of commercial sock yarn. They have held up for years.

Welcome to Norway, Noelle!!!
Thank you, I am really looking forward to it.
A great podcast! Kelly, what are the colorway for the Mille Colori yarn and the name of the Full Moon Fibres sock set?
I asked AI how to knit a 5 row ruffle in the round - wow, I wish I could knit as fast as AI generated the stitch pattern
😂 I think we all wish we could knit faster.
