It’s just so wrong! I try to recognize it by thinking: In ai art the body is shaping the stitches. In true amigurumi the stitches are shaping the body. So when the stitches look morphed to the curves or form, I can usually spot it really well
I'm pretty sure some of those scammers either buy reviews, ask friends and families to make hood reviews or create several account to give themselves reviews as I've seen store with blatant AI patterns but they had good reviews and that's just not possible. Those patterns were impossibly realistic and detailed so you k ow the result is gonna be nowhere near the photos. Also a big tell is when one pattern has several photos but they all look drastically different. Like a dog with different snout shapes on each photos etc.

i consider myself very good at spotting AI images in crochet and in general but damn that cat, if i just glanced at it i think i wouldn't of really noticed

A good way is to use saving the image and putting it through an ai checker like isitai or aiornot.

my mom started sending me ai crochet with the fake pattern links thinking they were real 😭
i feel like the older generations are one of their main targets because they don’t realise 😬 it’s so bad!
