George Will is a national treasure. I particularly appreciated his insight regarding the vanity of intellectual dwarfs casting aspersions on 19th century intellectual giants who bore some of the signs and practices common of their time.

Have read all his books with great appreciation. It may have been the question, but I trust the good Dr. Distinguishes between banning a book or the teaching of a subject or theory, and abolishing DEI departments which operate as censors of discussions of certain ideas.

A very articulate and smart man that holds onto attitudes and beliefs forged in a bygone era of political discourse. The new political landscape is based on confrontation and destruction, not debate, shared values, and counterpoints. The prime example is the nimrod citing the Florida law banning sexualized content for grades K-3. He called in DeSantis' "Don't Say Gay bill" when it's not so named, nor an executive order by the governor, and its aim is to protect children from indoctrination language at a time when they are too young to evaluate its worthiness or accuracy. The question was confrontational and aimed at making a disapproving point rather than simply trying to gain understanding. Mr. Will's drinking age analogy was lost on the guy because he was too busy trying to score points for his agenda.

The America that George will admires the most, is the one that was more Christian, more white, and more racially segregated than today.

Will fails to recognize that AI will progress. This is the frightening part.

I appreciate George Will but I think rule consequentialism is rather weak philosophically. What makes your rules better than mine? Who's doing the evaluation? Tried and tested is just another way of saying long entrenched. The ones in power make the rules. Christians have a much better argument for essential human nature.
