I've read the Dr, Kate Vet Mysteries and really enjoyed it -- like reading a James Herriot book only in rural New York and with a mystery. 🙂The first one is a Christmas story. I gave it five stars. The second one I gave 3.5 stars to because one aspect of Kate's personal life threw me for a loop but the mystery was solid and the secondary characters are great -- and so are all the critters we get to meet in the day of a life of a vet. Eager to see what this third book has in store!
So many fantastic books to look forward to this month. I have Paws to Remember by Sofie Kelly on preorder as well as Let it Crow, Let it Crow, Let it Crow. I'm kinda hoping that I'll manage to hold off reading them until closer to Christmas but I don't know if I'll be able to resist! And I'm over the moon about the third Mountain Lodge book -- love that series! Ack -- and Spoon to be Dead by Dana Mention and Syrup to No Good by Catherine Burns and...sigh, I'm going to go broke this month. Love when you do this new release videos. Thanks for doing all the research!

The author was a vet herself for like 20 years and the slice of life parts felt almost educational without being too much so I LOVED that!
Those holiday themed books of Donna Andrews are such fun to read.

Monster Mash Mystery - If you want to disappear, Iowa would be the place to do it! 😀 During WWII there was a German POW camp in a rural town. Apparently only one prisoner ever escaped, and he turned himself back in because it was just so boring!

I'm really looking forward to hearing your reaction to Stalking Around the Christmas Tree (I already read the eARC and loved it). I'm looking forward to reading Paws To Remember by Sofie Kelly and Syrup To No Good by Catherine Bruns. I just started the Shake Shop series so Book 3 may be on my list too. So far I'm enjoying Book 1.

I'm looking forward to the next book by Diane Kelly in the Mountain Lodge series.. I just finished Book 1 and am starting Book 2 this weekend.. so I'll be all ready for the 3rd one when it comes out. I'm so excited for Stalking Around the Christmas Tree as well!!! Oh, and the vet series by Eileen Brady.. has 4 in the Kate Turner, DVM Mystery and then the more recent 3 in the Dr. Kate Vet Mysteries.. from what I could tell, they are a continuation.. so I started that series at Muzzled (which was awesome) and thought I'd start at the very beginning... what's 4 more books, right? LOL

"An Embarrassment of Itches" by McKenna Dean is a terrific veterinary cozy whose protagonist, Ginny Reese, opens a vet practice in a small town where her mother lives. Ginny is a super smart and strong woman, but still a vulnerable human being. (This is so important to me because I cannot tolerate characters that are too stupid to live.) There is just the right amount of romantic tension in the form of a former boyfriend who is now the sheriff. And speaking of tension, Ginny's young german shepherd dog, is not yet the match of her now deceased dog that was an obedience expert, which adds drama at the right moments. Because the writer worked as a vet tech, she is able to provide enough medical detail to make the story plausible without making the reader want to skip pages to get back to the narrative. Great read!
