Yes, You're correct! Kris wrote this And it was originally a hit by Sammi Smith in 1971. #1 in country charts, and #8 in the Pop charts. It was later recorded by Elvis, Gladys Knight, and many others. Kris has made lots of money from this song. It's a great song!
