It's amazing and quite touching to see this now. I wasn't even double figures when I used to watch Double Deckers. Fifty years ago! To a young person seeing this now, it would be the equivalent of me back then seeing some old film from the 1920s and thinking how ancient it was. Time, eh? :-)
crazy. i used to watch the double deckers when i was little in the mid 2000s because it’s what my dad used to watch when he was little too in the 70s and the music in this particular episode has always stuck with me that i come back to. i plan on sharing the double deckers with my kids !
I love it, the kids seem to enjoy the performance. As though he was a star. He was a singer, google him. Think you have to appreciate this was 1970, and a great kids programme at the time. Loved the who'll series.
I'm sure they actually did enjoy it. I mean, look at that short-haired girl in white miniskirt who danced on the stage, and look at the girl sitting next to Billie (Gillian Bailey) with shining bright eyes staring at Anthony May as he sang "I need someone like you" to her.
i remember this as a kid. got to watch all the episodes again a few years back when they were on youtube since they were taken down i have no way of watching them since as far as i can tell they havent been released on any format on this side (u.s) of the atlantic
I need to know the lyrics. He loses me at one point. "I've been told I'm too quiet, too shy..." And then what does he say??? "Not clever with words of love"???
Does anyone know if the kids and teenagers in this episode were all possibly from a stage school or some sort of acting training school like Barbara Speake, RADA or Stretford children’s theatre possibly? Or if they were from like a youth acting club or theatre acting children’s workshop?
Because Debbie Russ who played tiger had no acting work before here come the double decker, Gillian bush Bailey had, Peter Firth had work before, Douglas Simmonds hadn’t had work in television or film before here come the double deckers though he appeared in only one episode in play for today for the bbc in 1971 and Bruce Clark had no work before though he appeared in one episode of bbc play of the month in 1972.

Thanks for sharing. Love the song.
And Brinsley Forde had appeared in the magnificent six and a half before and since here come the double deckers he’s done lots of other things.
Or possibly they had maybe have had earlier television and film roles before and worked in previous things before?
Anthony May sounds a little like Cliff Richard. I wonder if he recorded any pop albums. I do like his voice.
If this track had been released commercially, I have a feeling it might have sold well.
Can see the similarity (in voice) to Cliff but there also sounds like a touch of Adam Faith there as well.
@@Cool2BCeltic it`s on the soundtrack album dont know if it was asingle though
And Michael Audreson had done things before in television and film and he has a bit since.
I thought it was Noel Edmonds!
He literally looks just like him in the 1970s.
I thought that too.
I need to know the lyrics. He loses me at one point. "I've been told I'm too quiet, too shy..." And then what does he say??? "Not clever with words of love"???
"But I can't let you pass me by."
Too bad Brain's synthesizer exploded by the end of the song. The ending wouldn't be that sad if the song ended without any incident.

"your friend, and my friend, you all know him, its....."
*what's his name?*
Whatever happened to the Cool Cavalier?

The music has no melody, no structure and in 1971 these kids would never be listening to this!
