Does your Shift Knob Matter??

Very minor mod, but is mainly for looks or is there some functionality to a shift knob?!

A heavier weighted shift knob makes the shifts smoother. When I was trying to find a new knob for my 6mt is250, the lighter weight yet cooler looking knob made my shifts a lot clunkier. As soon as I got a weighted version that was as heavy or heavier then the stock one, my shifts became incredibly easier and smooth. Also I never had an issue with loosening because I never got a knob you had to use a nut to stop it on the threads with. Mine just have screwed all the way down to tight and the one I did have with shift pattern on the top was a decal you install after you fully tighten the knob. Hope this helps you man. Can I ask what shift knob weight you went with for your IS250? I also have an IS250 and would like to improve the shifter feel.

I need to change the shift knob to my IS250 but for the life of me I cannot find the one that I want. I must be searching it wrong. I want to put the original round silver ball of first Gen IS300 in my car. Now I wonder if I can just order the one for the first gen and it’ll still fit for my 2is.

Back in my day we preferred heavier shift knobs for short shifters. I miss my MR2.
