I can also imagine him stopping for a sec to remember a part then going a bit too fast then waiting so that he can beat the shi out of you in sync to the music

i love how at 2:02 papyrus bursting into sans’ room implies that sans made the song before the fight so realistically, when we’re fighting sans in the game we are actually listening to him play this song during the fight
honestly the fact that he’s only forgetting this much while playing ALL of the instruments by himself is pretty impressive

When you try to remember that one really good song you only heard once or twice before.
I like to think every boss monster has some magical way to project their theme to the player or anyone nearby, and is tailored specifically to them, hence why when certain characters show up their theme comes along with them, they're projecting it out in the open
This is basically Sans just a week after becoming a boss monster, and he is refining his theme and learning how to use it (then he realizes it's a little intense, so he scraps it and replaces it with a different theme, however this theme is only ever used when he is out in the overworld, and by the genocide route, he digs up his old theme that he scrapped, and that Papyrus kept it all these years
He decides to use it, as a tribute to his brother, as a promise that he will destroy this "human" and avenge all of his kind)
Yes this turned into another outlandish Undertale theory, but I'm making it canon now because * * * * the haters or something

Sans isnt a boss monster btw, he still has 1atk 1def and 1hp, he's extremely fragile but knows how to counteract that fact with his massive magic stamina
Well it’s not like a ranking system like bleach soul society, you are either born a boss monster, or not like the regular monsters, so example Asriel, is he just never got the training to be like his dad in combat.

Guess what? Only toriel and Asgore's souls stay after death, because they are BOSS monsters. In fact, its stated they are BOSS monsters.
Sans's soul doesn't last (if otherwise, we would have heard his soul break), Papyrus's soul doesn't last, and not even Undyne's does.
They aren't BOSS monsters. They are just Bosses.. in the video game sense.
