You would need to first take the permit from 'Nature Information Centre' which is a few minutes walk away from the main SGNP gate (10 seconds into this video) And instead of exploring on your own, better take a SGNP volunteer/guide, who will lead you to 'Jambulmal' as it is a poper trek and not a nature trail or walk in the park.
