Temperature is the reason gout occurs most often in the great toe. Cold temperatures favor the precipitation of crystals in the joint. So if you are prone to gout, keep your feet warm! Thank you for discussing uric acid!
The fanny pack can be a highly useful innovation in rucking, Peter: a 7L Savotta Askare will provide a lower shelf to support a moderate weight in the shoulder bag above it, while removing its own contents from the load experienced by the upper body. Way more flexible than a pack with integrated hip belt!
Have noticed thar when crystallization occurs it appears in a joint that has recently been stressed. Usually big toe but have had it occur in wrist, elbow and knee.
Useful episode. I suffer from gout and take allapurinol for it. The key, in my experience, is drinking lots of water, and I avoid certain very rich foods and a few specifics, such as shellfish, unless in moderation. Also, cut the booze as much as possible.
same here, ketoses and I got gout. Taking allopurinol now. Still happy with Keto, because I lost more than 130lbs and it works for me, but gout really hearts....
Fanny Pro Tip: Get a phone case with a waist clip - put the clip on the fanny strap across your chest - no zipping for phone and you leave all that sweet sweet fanny space for other gadgets
I also don’t fit the phenotype for gout, but suddenly had an attack. I’m convinced it has to do with prolonged fasting and/or high fructose consumption on chest days when marathon training 😬
Hey! I sported a fanny pack for quite a while, but that was back in the early 90s. I had no knowledge of the current "controversy" until now. I guess I should be paying more close attention. :))
Times have changed. Fanny packs used to be uncool but today with the uptick in crime-particularly in NYC-they are less easy to rob. I don’t carry a pocketbook anymore because of an increase in street crime.
I guess I would have noticed if I had any trace of gout: I use my big toe to drive. I drive bare foot with only my big toe on the accelerator as it is much more precise ... normally.
From my understanding there is a genetic component. My brother has gout, as do two of my uncles on my mother's side. But I am not able to pinpoint it as the main reason. I drank too much beer in my younger days, and now live a much more healthy life. I still need to take allapurinol and drink tons of filtered water. Green tea, certain herbs etc, are useful
Higher inflammation and uric acid? isn"t there a link with increased cell death ie DNA degradation hence increasing purines ? Possibly also more infections (and dead bacteria and DNA degraded)
got nuthin against a fanny pack, other than its zipper and odd feeling while being worn....but its got NUTHIN on my daily vest wearing. EVERYBODY asks me why i wear a sleeveless vest whenever i go anywhere. because it is my man-purse. it has very large drop-in side pockets, two large inside drop-in pockets and it makes small pistal carrying (should i need to) along with wallets, keys, and notes, whatever....very easy.
To wear a fanny pack for a fashion statement would be absurd but to call it a fashion faux pas is equally absurd. It’s a utility belt, plain and simple. I carry a flashlight also for its utility, not as a fashion statement.
Pro fanny pack here (in certain situations). If you’re not carrying your EDC firearm, trauma med kit and tourniquet at all times on your person then I just don’t know what to tell ya!
I always have a fanny pack. I carry 2 phones and they are not in the fanny pack😂. They can be in my pants pockets (L and R) or the exterior pockets of my back pack (I hike for hours every day). One phone is used for photo only. I live in Nature mostly so I only care about what matters to bears. Example: I use diaper rash cream as sunscreen (great around the eyes) and bears dont care (unscented). It is white... and? It must be exhausting to consider what people "think"(?) about stuff that is just most convenient to you.
Glad your talking about the dreaded uric.....That definitely looks like a, I'm going on a long hike sized fanny pack, and should be worn lower back. I won't worry till I see him rocking it over the shoulder, fashion style.....🙄😜
BINGO !!!!!!!!! 3 years of keto flu? Once you keto-adapt it'll be fine dizziness for no reason? Once you keto-adapt it'll be fine Just had your 5th kidney stone on keto? Once you keto-adapt it'll be fine
Peter Attia isn't even close to being a person that respects science. He communicates with too much certainty. Once he forms an opinion he believes it's proof with absolute certainty, no more further questioning allowed. Sorry, proof is not a part of science. All findings are tentative.

Thank you for discussing uric acid!
The opening was comedic genius by both guys. 😂😂 😂
The only mention of protein was sticking it in your fanny pack 🤣
You have to become a member I think for the whole show.
@@schelleuser2792well he can stick that in his fanny pack too! 😂
(Sorry, just poking fun, thanks for the info)
@@Themata haha! I get it! I was bummed too. But I now know what to search up. Stay fun!!

I switched to pure carnivore for 6 months, and lowered by Uric Acid and reduced blood pressure also lowered my ALT and fasted insulin.
Why did you quit after only six months?
Read Dr. Perlmumteer's book "Drop Acid" re: uric acid
Have noticed thar when crystallization occurs it appears in a joint that has recently been stressed. Usually big toe but have had it occur in wrist, elbow and knee.
Yes,, I 've experienced the same.
And stress/tension in general triggers a gout episode with me
I love fanny packs - I'm super practical and so are they!
Useful episode. I suffer from gout and take allapurinol for it. The key, in my experience, is drinking lots of water, and I avoid certain very rich foods and a few specifics, such as shellfish, unless in moderation. Also, cut the booze as much as possible.

Xylitol also increases UA. Some foods also changes the kidney priority like lactic acid foods.

A fanny pack is next to godliness...a classic DAD MOVE
It's a disguised BATMAN utility belt.
Lay off the Attia-man's BATMAN belt.
I also don’t fit the phenotype for gout, but suddenly had an attack. I’m convinced it has to do with prolonged fasting and/or high fructose consumption on chest days when marathon training 😬
I’m Team Fanny Pack. Peter makes it cool again 🎉
Hey! I sported a fanny pack for quite a while, but that was back in the early 90s. I had no knowledge of the current "controversy" until now. I guess I should be paying more close attention. :))
Great episode, taking the allopurinol and started eating more fruits and veggies and less meat. Does drinking cranberry juice help?
Tart cherry juice is supposed to help.

🥇Love Fanny packs.
Baby got’back!😘😉
The boring discussion about the fanny pack ends at 3:00
Are you kidding? That bit’s the moneyshot!
The increased consumption of fructose leads to production of triglycerides, uric acid, nafld, obesity,
I don't eat sugar - or fructose in fruit drinks or soda But still have higher uric acid -- Can be genetic ?

Protein supplement significantly raises my level of Uric acid
If Peter approves of fanny packs then I'm going to order myself one (or two) today!
I would spend 90 minutes of my life listening to a nuanced discussion of the merits of Fanny packs, ngl 😂
Two is the right number of you must wear it on the sides. Else muscle imb alances.
@@diygreasemonkey201 I wear it on the back and I don't put much stuff in it.
HAHA The fanny pack... Why so much hate, it's so practical!
Fanny pack user here, and wrist pack for more rigorous endeavors.
2nd. I love uric acid
😅😅😅… Peter had me at “launching a 90 minute logic assault to defend the fanny pack”
UA is also a super high antioxidant.
I get gout when I make protein shakes?! I don’t know why this happens I don’t have high blood pressure
Celery seed extract does it reduce Uric acid?
Higher inflammation and uric acid? isn"t there a link with increased cell death ie DNA degradation hence increasing purines ?

Guys you are going to be very surprised when you look up what “fanny” means in the U.K.
…and Just about every other English speaking country
Who’s the other guy grilling Peter about fanny packs ?
hope his name and more about him is mentioned in the future AMAs
Great pete's a fan of the fanny pack and aryton senna.
Cargo pants and a fanny pack and you’re ready to tackle the world

Fanny packs are cool✨
Concealed carry
First. I love protein 😋

Funny I eat. Meat mostly and drink wine daily. No gout, but when I stray it's gout city.

To call a small case a “ fanny pack” in the UK would get you in trouble 🤦🏻♂️
I think a fanny pack is a logical choice for on body storage
Fanny packs...straight guys answer to man bags🤣
WHERE IS PROTIENS IMPACT ON APPETITE--BAIT AND SWITCH?!?
That was a sneak peak

Sour cherry juice?
So fruit, meat, alcohol are all bad.....but they're my 3 main food groups 🤣
He’s taking medicine 3.0 in there
I CLICKED FOR PROTEINS EFFECT ON APPETITE AND UR TALKING SO SLOWLY ABOUT FUCKING MENOPAUSE!?!?!
LOVE the fanny pack...
On behalf of UK listeners, please stop saying fanny over and over again. 😂
Once you keto-adapt and consume the ketones, uric acid drops.

Exactly! It’s a podcast about a fanny pack! Peter Attia Is selling high protein in the era of plant-based diets. All style, no substance.
This is terrible. 10% in and there's nothing to the topic. Waste of time.
Fanny Pack!!! Stuck to what you do well and it not comedy.
