Gregg Rolie listening to Steve Perry's demo "This guy is a crooner, it's not us." Gregg Rolie after this session "We're going to be multi millionaires."
This was a Perry/Schon collaboration and it sounds like the band working off of the demo trying to fully craft the song. Very nice find. Wish there were more like this.
I wish there were more videos like this...(recordings) this is awesome! always great to hear how songs begin and then hear the final product. His voice is just fantastic!!
A May Zing! I could listen to this all day everyday! Then comes in the guitar solo and Steve backs it out with Neal but it's not on this cut. I just love the way they rehearsed and Steve sees where he could take it, and boy that man brought it. Who does that today?! I wish I could meet Steve Perry one day! Love him.
I love how at 2:30 he messes up and says "that was great" and then gets back on 😂😂 it's such a mood cause when I rehears I make small little comments like that too.
Wow!! I don’t know how this rehearsal take got posted, but I’m glad it did and I hope there are more. It would have been a dream come true to observe Journey’s daily writing and rehearsing. A REAL dream come true for working on the craft to be your actual job every day.
Yes! Good observation! And because it was hard to sing these long extended falsetto passages mixed with all of his high mixed voice material, Journey didn't perform this track live much. I know of NO live recordings of Sweet and Simple from the Perry era of Journey.
This s d reason why he passed with flying colors to b journey's lead singer n 77 till 96 .. d other's just tried so hard to imitate this voice but to no avail ..
Omg I LOVE this video! One of the only times I've ever heard him go flat, and heard some head voice!! Love a peek into the technique behind that fabulous voice ❤️
This is Steve Perry? Sorry I’m not buying it. I’m sure I’ll get crucified for saying it but in my opinion this is not Steve Perry singing. He has a very distinct talking voice as well.
No one gets crucified for so little here! (sorry but definitely Steve Perry, though 😜: ruclips.net/video/YdhFpBO1Dy0/видео.html ; he himself co-wrote this song with Neal Schon when joining the band in 1977)

On this record we can notice that Steve Perry had a contratenor voice! What a beautiful voice ❤️
Steve Perry is The Voice and a Legend!
Ahhhhhh, humble beginnings of the best singer in the history of rock and roll, gotta love it folks!!!
His voice was so young and beautiful here.
This is such a perfect raw performance......i love it ❤❤❤

I love the real and raw quality of this demo recording. A rare gem. Steve Perry...you are truly special and amazing!
Listening to to his voice mimic the guitar is so awesome. He does that often and you don’t even realize it.
Wow! What a voice! I don't know how he held those high notes so long.
Ahh the good old days! What a God-given rare gift Steve Perry was blessed with. Love his voice! Wish he’d put out some more new music. He’s a gem!
Love this song, love this rare gem! Love Steve's voice! Thanks for sharing!
wow his voice , nice version, gotta love the ending ,joking around
He was just blending full voice with falsetto voice. No trick. He just did this technique so well
How? How is it? I am very interested.
God given talent!

3:27. Look at that crowd. Simply amazing. Back in the day. It's too bad the younger generation doesn't get to experience that atmosphere.
They do
@@adamcoffeypromo they stick the cellphone poo and try record the show instead catch it and feel it, don't had the groove anymore.
Due to the coronavirus
Yeah, it was so exciting back in the day, wasnt it though
@@GnabhanJr Not all of us do that.
Wow!!that is truly awesome, Steve Perry is amazing. He can sing anything with ease.❤❤❤❤❤

Wow! The Voice is so young here but he´a beast already. These high notes arguably are only heard in "Sweet and Simple" from Evolution...

Madeline Daunt
But, it was all intentional to save his voice for the actual performance.
Madeline-hahaha! It's only 2 years later-My thoughts, exactly!!
Love this haven't heard it before Steve Perry sounds great.
Thank you! Love this voice. 💕 🎤
such a great voice love him and his songs
Freakin AMAZING!!!!
Love when neal says that was great
Back when any of these guys could actually stand each other.
Weird after hearing the original for almost 40 years
omg love this video!!!!!!!
I forgot just how amazing this was!! I have a copy somewhere, I should really find it and listen to it again!
I love this song!!!!!❤❤❤❤
I love to hear all of the rehearsal one!!! thank you so much!!!
Awesome!!!
Great Tune!
WOWW THE PITCH!!!!
Oooh Yessss..... Stevie💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
Love it when Neal says "That was great" and Steve kind of laughs.
This isn't a live rehersal version, this is a demo version that was laid down while they were recording Infinity, not live at all.
but still, that voice!
Someone must have other rehearsal recordings. I’d love to hear all of them 😭❤️
Wow. A heroic post. Thank you!
I was at this show 🎉❤
😍
What true legends. 🫶
Great video!
Human Steve Perry, sounds better than me even when he's cracking up.
Its Steve Perry this was in the very beginning with journey sounds little different bc they are working on the song it's a demo
How did you get your hands on this!? 😍
This is before the song was mixed yea there are mistakes but still better than most
The voice that said they was great is neal
🎉
Was Neal not present here or why is the solo not included? 😂

Man that was annoying!
Why did you bother listening to it then?
musicof70s cody you’re annoying. This is a musical piece of art.
Cody, you're a dipshit.
musicof70s cody you’re a doofus.
