Cool video. However , there is something you got wrong: you guys said that the firing up (sapecado) activates enzymes in the leaves, but its quite the opposite, the heat inactivates destroys certain enzymes preventing further oxidation, and bursts cell walls speeding the drying of the leaf.
It's not from the Amazon. Your error is approximately 2000 kilometers. It's like believing that New York and Miami are the same because they are in North America.
I can drink gallons of mate and it makes me more zen and relaxed. I could sleep on it. so, I mix Argentinian Mate with small amounts of coffee in a french press. It is a dynamic duo. I feel fucking great.
Weirdly enough I'm born and living in paraguay, I'm a descendent from the netherlands as far as 600 years back. Currently am wanting to plant some yerba✌
Hey brother, amazing video! From one Mate enthusiast to another, great stuff. Your vision is pure, positive, and purposeful. The guys at Guayaki are great, and I'm happy to see two companies such as yourselves team up. Drink on!
Just watched a very interesting video on this subject. Getting the green version could be a better alternative. But the studies I've seen say it's much more important to heat the water to the right temperature. If the water is too hot it can slowly damage the esophagus causing an increased chance of cancer.
Mate factor is delicious, and totally different from any traditional type of mate, but guayaki used to produce an air dried yerba mate called San Mateo, you can still find some from people online
I don't know. Some of those farms could be exploiting workers or using pesticides. Isn't it better to buy fair trade because you know the farmers and workers are making a sustainable wage?

Great production! So cool to see the business side of the Guayaki guys. Their canned Yerba has become super popular here in Vermont
Mate Yerba mate is not from the Amazon, you got your geography wrong... Not all the rainforest on south America is the Amazon forest...
So, where does it from then?

That flash heating also introduces carcinogens unfortunately.
It is approximately 1.5 million years and counting that the genus Homo has been consuming food cooked over fire. What are you talking about?

I'm worried about the use of smoke that can be cancer causing. What is your take and are there products that don't use this method?
You can get green mate that isn’t prepared with smoke from Mate Factor. I’ve always used them. Guayaki might have a green version too, though.
@@airmanjoe I've just thought stuff it now. It tastes too good to worry hahaha

Yerba Mate is originary from Paraguay. Not from the Amazon. Ilex paraguayensis is the scientific name
Mate is not from the Amazon, its from the south of south america. Atlantic forest biome, chaco, pampa.
I like it but please buy it from real South Americans

Something off with this video. Can't put my finger on it.
Too bad smoked mate is terrible for you not a fan of guayaki
it's just that putting leaves over fire like that seems very unhealthy to me
Yeah, like if humans had to grill meat on a fire before eating it for millions of years so you could be alive today lol. Get a grip
