    1. Denham's descent into madness is interesting, especially with having him act as a pilot during the climax.
    2. The epilogue is a nice compromise for a Disney-fied Kong story.
    3. Very clever ideas for the songs and their placement.
Although, I think the squirrel could've been mentioned a little more. Would it have snuck onboard after Kong's capture or just remain at Kong's side during the trip? Would it have been stuck in a cage during Denham's show and found a way to escape it and try to free Kong? Does it join Kong and Ann on the Empire State Building?
Besides that, awesome job on this concept you two!

    • @osiristhegod-stopmotion
      @osiristhegod-stopmotion 3 года назад +5

I personally think it’d be a bigger punch to let the squirrel stay on Skull Island and mourn along side the natives while they perform their song and see it whimper in sadness and maybe crawl on the shoulder of one the natives for comfort.

Wow just wow, that was literally the best let’s talk video I be ever seen . Your synopsis was so amazing that I could literally imagine myself seeing it on screen and I think that if Disney does do this they could take some elements from the 1996 film. Like when Jack and Ann are bonding on the voyage to skull island Jack can mention that he use to be a war veteran and lost so many friends , which is why he turned his attention to being movie star in order to cope.
Also that fan made Disney poster at the end was so amazing and breathtaking, makes me wish that we got an animated Disney version of “King King” ( maybe some day we will).
And for my book series , thinking of a scene where Kong is shown in a county fair set in Central Park with everything , rides, parades, music , everything.

@@BigJackFilms I LOVE this idea for King Kong as an Animated Movie, Disney or Not. If I were to suggest an idea for this concept, how about including a short scene of King Kong looking over the skulls of his past brethren, like the Peter Jackson movie, to go with Anne and Kong trying to know about each other? Like the idea of the Natives mourning the loss of their God, it would give some levity to the idea of how Kong's life would affect the world he lives in.

I know this is a wacky and far out there idea, but how about King Kong: the 8th wonder of the universe? This is king Kong with a futuristic sci fi aesthetic. The plot would be similar to the 70s remake in that Carl Denham and Captain Englehorn are on a space exploration mission to find more natural resources for earth. They learn of a planet in a nearby solar system similar to earth with a face that looks like a skull. Ann Darow could be a biologist this version. Instead of dinosaurs, Kong could fight some cool alien creatures. Kong's design I would make it a monster gorilla with a few subtle alien touches, like the eyes are slightly shaped differently. The movie could still tackle issues like exploration and exploitation of the environment and animal cruelty. I'm thinking king Kong meets James Cameron's avatar.

You know the part about Kong not dying in the film? It could be considered as a plot twist.
If you ever played Peter Jackson's King Kong the game, you are aware that there's an alternative scenario of after Kong knocks out several airplanes, the search light come on the building to make Kong more visible for the planes to target. Just when Kong was about to meet his fate, Jack and Engelhorn arrive in the sea plane to aid Kong by taking out the search lights and shooting down the other airplanes. This gives Kong a moment of opportunity to climb back down the empire state building with Ann and then taken back to Skull Island.

Your concepts are great, and it makes me really wish this happened back in the 90s or 2000s. I'm a sucker for the late Phil Hartman's voice over work, like you discused in part 1. Great use of preexisting Disney footage and music definitely helped me envision your ideas. Not sure how I feel about the squirrel, though.
I even have ideas for Disney's Godzilla, using similar aspects and careful consideration as this. I'd consider it a spinoff of sorts, but no crossover.
It would have Atlantis vibes, but more along the lines of The Iron Giant, which is set in the 1950s and NOT a musical.
I would like it to give Godzilla sympathy akin to Kong.

Not a bad idea. But how about somethimg new, and not like the Leviathan from Atlantis the Lost Empire or the Heisei Gamera. I had an idea of giving Godzilla a potentially supernatural origin. You know, like how the people of Odo Island view the titular monster in 1954. Something of a mythical sea dragon that parallels the natural dangers of nuclear power.

One things for sure, I highly doubt Disney would kill off Kong. I know that sounds sacrilegious to keep Kong alive but you know Disney wouldn't kill him, in the same way they wouldn't kill off Ariel in The Little Mermaid or half the cast of Hunchback of Notre Dame.

New additions or changes few and far in between. I mean, this is Disney we’re talking about. Famously notorious for how much their adaptations are changed from the source material. Lots of creative liberties could’ve been taken or at least you both could’ve gone into more details on your ideas for scenes. I’m probably bitching over nothing, idk. Maybe one day in the future there can be a revision of this idea, like you did with your Lost World vid? Who knows?

I like the idea of the giant squirrel as an animal companion for Kong, all those things Kong does to connect with Ann on Skull Island, and even the part with him walking through a New York City zoo with her.
I would have kept Jack Driscoll as the first mate of the S.S. Venture, with a role similar to that of his original counterpart, and had another co-star whom Ann Darrow initially had feelings for (and that guy, of course, turned out to be a jerk). I personally would not have made Carl Denham a villain, just out of respect to Merian C. Cooper upon whom the character was based, but I know that Disney's most realistic and predictable move would be to villainize Carl Denham.
I would have kept a lot of the dinosaurs from the original movie like the Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, Triceratops, and Pteranodon, with a giant snake in place of the Elasmosaurus in the original movie. I also would have used the raptors in a scene where Ann tries to escape Kong and falls in mud, which ultimately leads to her both getting rescued by Kong and washed off in a waterfall like Dwan was in the 1976 King Kong movie. This is when Kong would become enamored by her.
Another thing I think would be really interesting to add is to give the Skull Island native chief an adult son named Faraji who acts as a mediating translator between his people and the Venture crew, and later defies his father to help Jack, Carl, and the others rescue Ann.
As for Kong's fate, I agree with some commenters that Disney would most likely not kill him off. Like the alternate ending in the King Kong video game, I would have Jack and Captain Englehorn use the seaplane to shoot down the planes attacking Kong. Kong would then climb down from the Empire State Building with Ann and be shipped back to Skull Island.

    My Thoughts & Review:
Honestly, while the video was great and an entertaining watch, I’m a little bummed you guys didn’t go more into the specifics or depth and detail of the story, as it only barely takes up only 1/2 of the actual video. Much more could’ve been discussed I feel. Cause, aside from a few minor differences and changes (and placement of the songs), it feels like another quick summary of the ‘33 and ‘05 film.
This is Disney we’re talking about, a studio known for their drastic changes of the source material. What else could’ve been added? Jokes, action scenes (as this is animation, you can do a lot more and there’s less limitations), what sort of visual gags or running jokes would you add in? So, here are some suggestions and ideas of my own:
A few other examples off the top of my head for a point of reference of such action scenes fitting for the film include: the motorbike dog chase from Aristocats; the rescue of Mowgli at the ancient temple and the end fight w/ Shere Khan from Jungle Book; the chase scene w/ Ichabod and the Headless Horseman, and so on. And the prehistoric creatures, which ones would be added in? Maybe even add in a few new faces into the mix. The obscure ones that have not yet been introduced to the public at this time (i.e. what Jurassic Park did for the Dilophosaurus among others). As I’m pretty sure by now there were some new dinosaurs discovered by then (and feathers too). Examples I can think of right now being in the concept art of Dinosaur (2000). What about non-prehistoric beasts too? Like carnivorous plants, deadly insects or others, or monstrous fish or some ravenous reptiles?
Now about the side characters (the ship crew/sailors). It would have been nice if this had been talked about and discussed more. What sort of characters they’d be, maybe nothing concrete, but placeholders at the very least. Like scenes for them to shine or what they contribute to the story. Similar to what Peter attempted in the ‘05 remake but w/ a payoff.
How about deleted material? That being the test footage by Willis O’brian w/ the hunter shooting the baby triceratops and is chased by the mother.
Perhaps a rivalry w/ Jack and one of the sailors/crew members, let’s call ‘em Doug for now, is definitely the most thug-ish of the batch. Seeing Jack as a preppy and over pampered city boy. Being a pitiful excuse of what a man is, compared to himself. Calling him “pretty boy” and other derogatory remarks throughout the journey. A reverse of Gaston in a way, but less focused on looking goo and more on manliness. He definitely wants to start a fight w/ the actor, but doesn’t on account of the deal between Englehorn and Denham that his star not be harmed or his looks compromised. Otherwise Denham will subtract a portion of his payment to the captain ergo a loss of the crew’s payment. As the journey goes on, Doug grows more and more agitated and irritated by Jack’s heroism and bravery. To overcompensate for his “manliness” he shoots at the dinosaurs and other beasts along the journey for no reason other than for the laughs. Among those being a baby trike. He stays back to check out his kill when he is chased and killed by the mother, which in turn chases after the rest of the men to the log bridge. Another nod to the deleted material.
To soften Kong’s more antagonistic side, particularly the bridge scene, he is alerted to their presence by his companion the giant squirrel. Having spotted them. He leaves Ann to go and investigate. When the crew are about halfway across, Kong arrives. He doesn’t attack, not right away. Merely observing and assessing them. His presence petrified the men. He loudly roars and pounds his chest. This being to assert his dominance and act as a scare tactic to get them to go away from his turf. Giving them the chance to leave. A few of the sailors panics and fires at him w/ their guns, causing a few others to do so as well. Retaliating by slamming his fist down on the bridge a few times. His way of telling them to go away. Unintentionally loosening the log. It starts to fall. Everyone panics and only a few make it back to the other side, Denham and Englehorn among them, while the rest fall to their doom. Jack, having made it to the opposite side w/o being spotted by Kong, hangs on the side of the cliff. He watches as Kong inspects his gunshot wounds (ala “Kong: Skull Island”). Showing the actor his intelligence as a thinking animal and the hope that Ann is still alive. Kong leaves. Jack soon follows after him to his lair.
Perhaps give some mannerisms to the T. rex himself to add some nice additional villain characterization for the lizard king. As to not be just another mindless brute. Show that the beast is a sly, cunning and truly worthy opponent of the 8th wonder. Show it hunting another animal or attacking the crew in a chase scene. I was thinking of Shere Khan or Scar as reference, minus the talking. Ann could even attempt to aid Kong in the fight (somehow) from the sidelines.
Now the giant indian squirrel. You coulda discussed their role in the movie. As it feels like he has no impact at all to the overall story. Like, while out on a stroll on their own (w/in Kong’s territory/domain of course) to show the development of the trust between Kong and Ann, the rex attacks and chases after Ann (as for the fight, I was thinking something along the lines of this: m.ruclips.net/video/F8lJOynN3lc/видео.html). Ann is trapped up on a tree. The squirrel being a squirrel, quickly dashes back to Kong’s lair through the treetops and alerts him to the rex’s presence and Ann being in danger (not actually “speaking” to him or vice versa, but more like how Abu and Aladdin communicate and can understand each other). The squirrel being on the sideline w/ Ann and maybe even also going in to aid Kong in the fight in some way. At the end, the giant squirrel (having stowed away w/ Kong) is used in the performance too, maybe as the pre-show as the audience takes their seats. Like those monkeys used to perform w/ street organs. This could even be a nod to ‘Son of Kong’ w/ the monkey show. During the confrontation w/ Denham the lil’ guy escapes and goes to try and unlock Kong’s chains or something. Grabbing the attention of the handlers (the corrupt sailors on Denham’s payroll perhaps?) and is chased around before being grabbed (at the same time as Ann is taken hostage). Enraged, Kong breaks free and escapes. The giant squirrel is about to follow the two, when his attention is caught by Denham. He follows him instead as he suspects the man of being up to something. Kong by now has reached the top of the Empire State Building and is in the middle of battling the biplanes. He reaches up overhead to swipe at the passing planes (piloted by Denham) when he slips and loses his balance. He manages to catch himself but is left momentarily winded, needing to catch his breath as he is starting to weaken from the bullets. This leaves Ann out in the open for Denham to circle back around and take aim. Before he can fire, the giant squirrel jumps out at him. Revealing that he had stowed away in his plane earlier and thus causing Carl to mess up his shot at Ann, allowing time for Kong to climb back up to protect the girl once more. In a daring last minute leap, it’s revealed that he was in reality a giant flying squirrel, landing safely w/ Kong and Ann. In Denham’s disorientation he and another of the biplanes crash into each other in a fiery explosion.
...Maybe even make Ann a POC. Now before you send me off to the mental institute or get after me angry mob-style, hear me out. As this was around the time Disney was getting better at writing female characters, I figured, Disney being Disney, that they might try to do something new and fresh in this take. Much like the Broadway musical (which BigJackFilms had reviewed prior). Ann is still a blonde (it being dyed) and a struggling actress. Only getting bit parts and background roles. She is noticed by Denham as he wishes to spice things up and add some “exotic flavour” to his picture. As I recall the moment from the ‘05 remake one of the investors at Denham’s screening had mentioned a similar notion. This to clue in Denham’s sleazier and crooked side. It can also add some additional weight to Jack’s character too in his decision between his acting career and reputation, or his own personal feelings and happiness. To act as a contrast to Denham’s character. On the boat ride to the island as they’re filming the scenes on the boat, Jack starts becoming smitten w/ the woman for reals. Even using his position and star power to give Ann more leeway in the project w/ either line or script changes for her character. Both are mostly improving their line delivery as they truly start to fall in love. Denham is irked by this but allows it as he knows the man will be the main draw for audiences and needs him in it. This hinting at his growing frustrations and eventual snap. As the bond grows, they begin opening up to one another and their struggles. Ann mentions she’d dyed her hair in an attempt to help her stand out and maybe grab the attention of acting scouts. Ironic foreshadowing, yes. After Ann is taken, most of the crew are hesitant to join Jack because they believe Ann is not worth the trouble. Those that are the first to join are the friends they made on the ship. No one else decides on joining. Before they leave, the other crew members go along after some enticing persuasion from Denham (in song). Using Ann’s kidnapping as a ploy for his own gain (film what’s on the other side of the wall). Everything else plays out normally.
That’s about all the ideas/suggestions from me.
(19:17) - Cool to see my art in the vid. Nice. 👍
    (22:42) - Oh look, it’s me (ArtMakerProductions).
Can’t wait for the direct-to-video sequel, Son Of Kong. : D

    Fred Wilson and Carl Denham
CB and Freddy Boy are childhood friends chasing their dreams and despite questioning on both ends neither will reveal where the fuck he’s going then when they see each other at the docks there’s a nice comedic moment when they realize that they could’ve just taken the same damn taxi
Unfortunately it would appear that Freddy boys chances are shot because the explorer is a little damaged. He laments not being able to make it to skull island on time but Carl’s like “wait that’s where im going!” So Fred and his people from Petrox join in on the Wanderer’s voyage and the crew of the explorer’s like “oh yeah englehorn’s people are always fun, let’s tag along” and Carl being in kind of rush just goes along with it because the police are kinda on their way
Later on in the movie when Fred’s oil plan falls through and he gets the idea to capture Kong he radios Carl and Carl’s not too into the idea stating that the Arctic is close by and has some element X deposits that’ll make him loads of money. Fred considers this option but ultimately decides to save it for later still thinking the capture Kong plan is the way to go
Then even further into the movie when Carl’s camera is destroyed he reconsiders the idea and is fully onboard with it
Then at the end of the movie with Fred Wilson now connected to God’s WiFi a remorseful Carl Denham is left to pick up the slack with criminal charges and lawsuits galore
