Thank you so much for making these videos. Starting out in this game knowing nothing, your channel is a treasure trove. Still working through the tutorial series and couldn't do it without them. Eternally grateful!!
I didn't do testings but I assume we could also use a PID controller in which we could set a desired length as a setpoint. This way, whatever the desired distance, the winch would accelerate and decelerate accordingly...
I could kick myself, I use Chat GTP with, Blender, Plasticity and other programs, even my model steam engines. You know when someone mentions something and the light bulb lights up, I cant get over that I never gave Chat GTP a thought when im on Stormworks. So glad I watch your Videos, Thanks so much 😜😝 👍👍
how about you add a function for it to not yank it? kind of start it slowly and keep giving it more speed up until the max as long as you keep the button pushed, all wrapped around the current functionality depending on the distance? Just giving you an idea im not sure if i'll ever use a MC like this one, but i liked it anyway! no way to know when you are releasing the button to also slow it down to a stop but i guess it's rare to stop at an arbitrary distance other than all pulled in
Could do with a ease in function to ease the speed in when you first press the button, so your load isent just jolted to max speed. Its possible to do it with a updown counter, set to a very low number and clamped between 0.1 and 1, Then multiply the output of that function by the updown counter. Then have a toggle to push set to on to off, hooked to the reset, when ever you let go of ether the up or the down buttons. So you can still get a instant stop. Im also 70% sure all you did here was just recreate the Lerp function thats already a option in the fomula node
Yup, that can definitely be done! Great idea! For the purposes of this video I was keeping it simple, but that is a cleaner solution without the jolting
Im sat here kicking myself, I use Chat GTP for lots of things, I never thought of using it with Stormworks 🤔 as soon as 454ss mentioned it, well, I hang my head in shame lol

:D Thank you! Always nice to hear they are making an impact!
Sweet system, I need this for my helicopter harness!

Yup, this can be done too! Personally I like using buttons but yes, a keypad and desired length works well :)

Already added after releasing this video! It slowly ramps up!
