Hi Guys,
In this weeks video Jimmy M waxes lyrical about the 2016 Panasonic Lumix release - The mighty Lumix G80/85!
Do you own this beast? Your thoughts?
Any other recommendations similar to the G80/85?
Is this too many camera gushing videos in a row LOL?

I love my g85. I mostly use it for photography, and pictures thatccome out of it, are soo crisp and clean, I just love everything about this camera.
It’s a solid camera in 2023!
@moja9976 last year when I got it, I got it for 700€
Thank you for the review! I just ordered a G80 today and i can't wait! :)
It’s a great camera! Enjoy.
This is a good topic for a video on RUclips, there are very few fresh materials about the G80
please develop in this direction, I really want to know how you do color correction when shooting in D mode
Thanks for your comment. Yeah we may have some more G80/85 videos coming up. Stay tuned!
Nice review. I bought a GH4 recently but the touchscreen wasn't working so returned it. On reviewing my options a cheap G80 came up and now on its way. As a stills shooter the G80 is a better fit for me. Slightly smaller and lighter with ibis thrown in for good measure. Seems to be a good choice if you want to shoot with the bigger telephoto lenses on the cheap. I also find the likes of G9 or GH5 overkill on features which adds to the complexity. I like a camera to be simple enough that you can pick it up after 3 months in a cupboard and not have to relearn how to use it..
Thanks for your comment, Norman. Yeah it’s a solid camera with a lot going for it!
The big issue with the "G" line is that its a M43 system with full-frame dimensions. It defeats the whole point of going m43 - what's the point of going with a smaller sensor if you aren't getting the advantages that are supposed to be associated with it?
To be honest, the format as a whole has really fallen behind in the last decade or so. APSC bodies and lenses have kept shrinking to the point where many m43 setups are actually less portable. Even some full-frame bodies and lenses have caught up with M43 (think A7C with Sony's 24/50mm f2.8 G lenses).
You make some great points. There are lenses for full frame that are not much bigger or heavier than M43 lenses, but the more telephoto lenses (full frame) I think will always be significantly bigger than M43 which is a huge benefit for travelling wildlife photographer and sports shooters, or anyone who loves to shoot telephoto. There’s also the great DOF with out having to stop down the lens too much is a benefit to landscape
Photographer, perhaps street photographers too. I’m intrigued to see what the M43 future is. It may surprise us all. Thanks for your comment, Jim. Some great food for thought.
@@madsciencefilms I think that's a fair argument for telephoto lenses at the more extreme ends.
But with APSC at "reasonable" focal lengths I don't see an advantage for M43. I use my 70-200 G F4 with an APSC body/in APSC crop mode to push it to 300m equivalent - and that's more compact than many 150m M43 lenses.
bro for vloging our no pllllllllls
If you use a wide enough lens and are ok with manually setting the focus
would this be a good starter for vlogging ?
Yeah I’d say it could. Be mindful of the slight crop in 4K and the focus is not the best in AFC
lumix g80 or lumix g7 for video?
G80 is a much better camera than the G7, but if budget is an issue then the the G7 is a good option.
@@madsciencefilms thanks I'll buy the g80 or the gx80
How much it’s price? please I need a quick answer 🙏
Depends where you buy and condition. Anywhere from £100-£350 I think.
@@madsciencefilms thank you for your answer ☺️!!
LUMIX g80 or GH4?
Depends on your priorities and needs. Both are very good content creating cameras. The GH4 a tad more pro than the G80.
What is god or bad...?
It’s good
