Good Lord, the complexity of this process is mind numbing. But I almost had to get some paper towels as I watched because I was salivating. I can't even imagine the engineering and design that went into developing the concept, let alone the logistical challenge of keeping this system supplied with raw materials and competent workmen. Just amazing!!

Talk about over-engineering, they are not just putting up tunnel forms but another layer of rebar and cement! That's impressive, the only reason I can think to go to those lengths is the material they are cutting into is extremely soft and they need the reinforcement.
whew... now i know how they build a tunnels in this day . it's so freaking awesome that make me don't understand how complicated it was, good job. as my child memory was said " keep digging and you will popped out on other side ". Well... that time my mom angry cuz the backyard full of holes lol...
Great stuff but the engineers also have to stay awake. In Seattle we had one of these making a tunnel through loose grave under downtown but the engineers had drilled test shafts along the route from the surface and forgot to remove the metal shaft linings. When the drill face hit the metal-lined shafts it destroyed the bits. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it held up construction for many months.
