Thanks General, ive been meaning to make a vid on the table, it breaks down, adjusts to play 1/2 the game and such..... too many things I want to do, but playing the game always takes precedence. Ive met some new players, and man, we play every week, and sometimes twice a week... that's all my free time!.... is it wrong to say, I might need a break from playing? :)
Very sweet setup, I love what your doing dude... great looking battle bucks for sure. I really like your idea about marking your battles, we do something similar but I like your way better. I'll do a video soon talking about your channel... keep it up.
Thanks YG, I saw your vid where you turned them over and were white, was that first edition? Mine out of box were black on back. I did have some from an earlier version which were white, but being OCD, couldn't have some black and some white on back :) Thanks again for the comment, well meet soon brother!
Just.played 7 rounds of 1940 with Sired Blood and his motley crew!! Hard core experienced players with perfect aim. Awesome time. They ROCK!!! Thx guys for putting up with a country boy. Tef
Hello sir, I picked up your custom money from the print shop today. They look fantastic! Like you said, not a cheap customization, but in my opinion, well worth it. I had them printed double sided - two pages per currency. Total was $48.00 - pricey, but I think they are great. Thank you again for doing this free of charge for the faithful! You are the man!
Epic! Glad you like them brother! 48 is a bit steep... my guys is about 3 bucks a sheet double sided.... did they cut yours?... I cut my own at home..hopefully that price was cut too.
ok great.. yeah I'm almost done setting up, right now i have a bunch of photos, mostly of the platform assembly and map set up with the pieces on it.. probably about a third of the 15,000 are set up and two thirds are represented by chips. Game set up is basically set up 1942, (Germany's set up is closer to late 41', while Japan is mid 1942 .) Thanks for letting me know that we can talk about these other denominations in the future, hopefully you are not too overwhelmed, I know how that can be.. But yeah. I will try and get something up on you tube soon!
Wow.....your miniatures look beautiful. I am impressed....and so glad to see beautifully painted miniatures on another table! keep up the Awsome work......
Thanks! Before I started painting, I watched your vids, some several times even, back when you were detroy. Whats funny, was painting the units was never the plan, but we were constantly getting the cruisers and destroyers mixed up, even as we started the know them, new players would come in, and be in the boat now. So I painted the bombardment ship decks brown.... so cruisers now had the brown decks. It wasn't too long after that, everyone around the table said... "you should paint them all" lol
siredblood I am so honored that you watched my videos......your color schemes are beautifully done and I really had no difficulty telling apart the game pieces. I guess after so many years of using painted miniatures my eyes have become accustomed to what I refer to as the "FOG OF WAR". I really like your customizations your customizations are off the chart. Your contribution. to the Axis and Allies community can't be ignored. Once again thank you and I hope that you continue with the innovative approach to the game!
Love the custom bills, Great job. I've not played in years so I've been working on different options for this classic series, quarters, dimes nickels and pennies opening many doors for cost to scale. My board has I think 20+ Russian territories east of Moscow, each worth 1/4 dollar, every property without a given value is still worth a quarter. Half infantry are $1.25, some units costs finish in-between the quarter and nickel, there's a penny use somewhere but... maybe not.
Awesome Vid. Great ideas. Love the setup charts. I have a suggestion, to add a "TOTAL" row at the bottom so for example, UK Infantry Total 15. So when we setup we can take out exactly 15 infantry units and if we are short or have excess infantry, we know that we made a mistake. Useful for newbies like me.
I’ve used some standing units to represent custom ones by painting a chip a certain color and putting it under them so I know what unit they are. I did it with tank destroyers, cavalry, and PT boats by putting colored chips under them
In my games, we use a specific color chip for 1's for each nation. for example. Japan uses orange , U.S. uses green, UK uses yellow, USSR uses purple, France uses blue, etc... It really helps keep units categorized at a glance. We use the grays as either 3 or 5 depending on the version of the game we're playing. I really like the idea of using specific colors for damage. I also like your wooden platforms for units that won't fit in a territory. Might have to do something similar.
Takes wife out to dinner. Looks at menu. Puts menu on table and starts placing chips on the items he wants to order. Wife : What are you doing? sireblood : I chip everything.
Hi Sired, Yeah I can't figure out how to contact you.. well I guess I'll just put it on here and see what you think, I have been playing A&A and other Gamemaster series games since the early 80's. Only A&A stayed me and my brothers favorite overall and that's what we played the most. On the classic board, it didn't take too long before I wanted to upgrade maps. In those days there was only the one game.. As time went on, went through a series of maps, whether making our own or buying larger global maps.. Well that quest finally came to completion about 10 years ago.. and I just set it all up again.. We use a map that is 13' x 8' with flaps on the top and bottom so you can get in there and reach everything with no problem. You only put a flap up if a ship is traveling areas that are near or above the Artic and Antarctica Circles. . Anyways all rolls are done on the computer via a program i wrote years and years ago.. started on a commodore 64 and since changed over to 286 or 386 basic format. I plan on displaying some of these things on you tube soon. At almost 15000 pieces it is quite the game to take all in.. I do want to paint them..lol you and others on you tube are quite the inspiration for that.. But for now it's the money.. I really like your money, best I've seen, by far.. but i need 50's, 100's and 500's.. is it possible to make a couple of changes to make these denominations? just an idea.. A P51 Mustang on a 500 dollar bill (with Gold color around the number '500' of course.. lol) ..lol Cadillac of the Skies!
I would love to see a vid of this in action! Thanks for the comment on the cash! Your setup sounds epic, the cash edits is not anything I can do soon, im swamped, but once some of these other things free up, well talk again about it, till then I wanna see this bad boy!
AWESOME! Great ideas, I love the combat action markers. I have each country's setup card attatched to the inside of the lid of that country's units container. You're not being anal, you're just very thorough and do good work! Hell, I've gotta buy every advanced aircraft or advanced armor piece that HGB comes out with even though I doubt they'll see much actual gameplay, and I've yet to put the time and effort (the real cost!) into them I should. I'm definitely gonna download your battle bucks. I bought some "funny money" at the dollar store and they didn't come with enough ones and don't look anywhere near as cool as yours, so I'm gonna print them ...on both sides! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Siredblood It took me some doing with Android apps and .rar installations but your custom cash looks phenomenal ! Turned out a bit smaller than the game cash, not much about the size of a debit card, but beautiful. Thx!
Glad you like them, thanks! As for the size, not sure if yours ended up smaller then expected, they should have printed the original money size from classic
I never use money. Just use chips to keep track of IPCs. There are many more colors of chips. My scheme Yellow=1, Grey=2, Green=3, light grey=4, white=5, red=10, blue=20, brown=50, black=100, purple=300. I just stack chips and keep the clutter to a minimum. If I have big clusters of units on countries (such as Germany) I stack the cluster on a side piece of cardboard and have a marker on the map representing the cluster. (Do the same for big navies, that way don't have to move a crapload of ships each turn just the fleet marker.)
Siredblood, so I wanna know Question 1. What type of wood did you use for your piece trays. Question 2. What are the dimensions of your piece tray, Length, Width, Height. Question 3. How were you able to get those brownish lines on the outside of the box. Thanks again, Appreciate it
I really enjoyed seeing so much cool customization, the only thing that I didn't really understand was why do you need so many chips?, for me ones and fives work fine
I like separated damage vs units, so the red 5 is 5 damage..... just added the 10 for units... ive played with folks that not only have a 10... but twos as well... yikes!
Nice video, great setup, thank you! Sadly, the link to custom cash design seems not working, could you please kindly check and update? Would be great to have them! Thanx :-)
Wow, I really love your painted pieces and even more I love your custom table with your own money! That's so awesome! Next year I wanted to travel to CA, let's see if that works out. If it does, maybe I can visit you and we'll play a match? :) Greetings B4hET from Vienna/Austria
Where you located? A few months ago, well more like 5, I lost my main players, so I started a meetup in my area.... took a couple months to get a single player, but were up to 21 now (with 7 regulars). Put the word out!
GHG mentioned you are in LA. Is that for real?! Wife still in Hawaii but my new job puts me 1 hour to your Northeast. Would be great to come down and play with your group sometime. Tef
Im in LA-ish, I am in Mission Viejo. Most games are played at my place, however I do organize a meetup for the area for games NOT at my house, which we are meeting this Saturday (18th) in Fountain Valley. The meetup is full, but if you want to attend, just let me know, someone may not show up, or if everyone does, I don't mind taking a back seat and ref :) Here is the link to the meetup www.meetup.com/Axis-Allies-of-South-Orange-County/
oops, ya sorry, It is Garden Grove :) See you tomorrow. Also, since your driving so far, I think its only fair you pick what county you want... you pick, well draw the rest.
I like the idea with the stickers. Your table looks awesome too!!

I admire your love for axis and allies. This video inspired me a lot! I am now customizing my own game, so thanks!
Epic! Thanks for the comment bro!

Was a good game tef, tomorrow im allies against widowmaker, playing YG rules for the first time.
love the painted pieces! really cool..i agree: battle markers are under rated, a good visual aid (esp for beginners:)
Thanks for the comment Fenris, I like that term "battle markers"... maybe "action markers" as I like to use them for all movements.
Thank you very much SiredBlood for the custom IPC cash, very professional, I look forward to study more of your customizations and game tips
Thanks Dale! Ive been meaning for a second series..... soon hopefully!
