Absolutely unique singer! Great energy and communicates strongly with her musicians... Wicked good band! I find it interesting that she often wears what we'd call "office wear". Guess that was her style, in those days. Thanks for this.
So GREAT - Anita!!! I view her as the Buddy Rich of Voice = a total freak of nature talent. Great support here too - love the classy brush work of John Poole.
The fine pleasure of chatting with this superlative jazz singer..at a Denver Jazz club...and at Colorado Springs club along with Johnny Smith one of jazz great guitarist..years later at a club at Malibu Beach,California...actually recalled our parle vous way back when...

I first feel in love with Anita O'Day from her vocal iterations with the Gene Krupa Big Band. I still have those re-issues from 1936-39, and they can't be beat in my opinion. The Anita, I love the best, minus her 1958 Newport Jazz Festival performance, is as a Big Band song stylist. Terry Gibbs Dream Band 1962, and Anita, can you imagine what might have been?
Anita O'Day and Nancy Wison two of my favorites.
Anita always added with her voice and interpretations another instrument to these sets - she was unafraid and truly experimental. A true “Jazz Great”.
Tete Montoliu is a monster on the piano. Anita O' Day's autobiography is a hair standing book - 'High times, hard times'; she saw some stuff.
Very hip. Taking old tunes and turning them inside out. She was an original. 💙
She totally swings!! I love when she counts off a tune !
El Gran TETE MONTOLIU !!!

She wore the white gloves to cover the needle tracks on the backs of her hands.
I love Anita O'Day! One of my favorite jazz singers.
Stephanie Jeannot me too.... great artist.....her phrasing is incredible
Great energetic performance all the way around. John Poole laying it down.
So GREAT - Anita!!! I view her as the Buddy Rich of Voice = a total freak of nature talent. Great support here too - love the classy brush work of John Poole.
Agonizing excellence.
In command, she was a force.

THE GREAT ANITA O'DAY...NO ONE CAN COMPARE!!!!!
So true!!!
Pianist is a beast, along with John Poole (d.), of course.
The beast and the best: Tete Montoliu
I was born the day before. Love John Poole, esp. brushes.
Unique...💕🎶
That's Amazing!
Love Anita. Thanks for posting. Excellent.
love you Anita

AOD....an important voice in human history, and the band is wicked
It's wonderful! It's marvelous!
AWESOME!
Oooo!!! You had better be an ear player when Anita says, "Echo!"😂
She does the definitive version of honeysuckle rose.
I was 1 day old !! Why is John Poole virtually unknown as a great drummer? IMO he was a GREAT brush player.
Incredible chops.
If you can do it with brushes, it's easier with sticks, always.
Doubt it not.
He should be a household name!
S'wonderfull .... 😎❤❤
Anita didn't follow the band, she pushed it!
Also: Eric Peter, from Switzerland, on bass !
😃🌱💙🌸
Sorry. You can't beat this
Gloves were very useful in Antibes ... lol ...
O’Day… dough in pig-Latin… money on the stage. As in, pay me.
Anita O day.." I need the dough".
Miley Cyrus circa 1966...
They look similar, but Miley better get to work if she wants the part.
Ya' know, I thought the same. Very similar timbre.
the beloved incomparable Anita O'Day!!!
