Pullman 876 basket Short Bloom Turbo Lagom P100 HU

  • Got a Pullman 876 19-22g basket today. Chemex bottom filter, 18g Wendelboe Finca Tamana Caturra & Variedad Colombia (washed, filter roast) promising notes of sweet chocolate, caramel & red fruits. Trying out a 2 sec bloom but it didn't play out exactly like the Extractamundo! profile it’s inspired by, bloom exit pressure went under 2 bar, will try 1s next time. It did taste nice: sweet and balanced with a velvety mouthfeel. Got 35,8g in 16 seconds total.

    What grind settings do you use for espresso on the HU? I feel like ive see a huge range on what people grind at for espresso, from 38microns(dickson tan) to 105microns to 270microns(patrick rolfe)?

      For turbo espresso with bottom filter around 90 with RedSpeed HU and a little more with my Tungsten, depending on bean ofc. Been at 127 microns with my TC HU. It might be caused by different alignments, different baskets and machines and different recipes. I know some who had less than optimum alignment was closer to zero before they improved alignment.

      Wow 270 microns is more like filter 2.0 setting than espresso?

      I saw Aprils P100 video on espresso and their P100 is at setting setting 1.5 so 15 notches x 7.5 microns = 112.5 microns which is a very standard setting for HU.

      Hah yes I saw it was at 1.5 too but he mentioned it was 270microns at 6bar (6min35sec ISH)

      And on that note I'm pulling about 50-75 microns range. Visually really much less appealing than a trad shot I would say

    For me, I would need to see someone drink the coffee, and maybe a better angle of the coffee coming out.

      @Jeff Mattel I simply provided information to a content creator about what I prefer. This is called constructive criticism. I am sure a bunch of people would like what I suggested.

    You hear a damn loud mill, see a shoulder in front of the camera and see an unspectacular extraction. What was the message here?

      I have plenty videos showing only the unspectacular extractions from under the portafilter if you don’t want to hear the grinder or see my back, or if you don’t believe that poor looking turbo extractions can be really tasty.
