I work for a company that does mechanical engineering for the defense industry. We will hire people with tattoos and piercings but will not hire anyone with a septum ring. We used to, however, every one of those people had issues involving immaturity and ineptitude. We went through a good number of such employees before we stopped hiring them. We understand that everyone is an individual but when it's a not just a common occurrence but one that happens every time, something had to be done. We still put that tattoos and piercings are allowed, when we post for open positions, however we do not specify anything about septum piercings, either way, as we don't want people who are coming in for interviews to take them out before hand. While I am not ready to say that everyone in the world who has one of these piercings is mentally and emotionally immature (and/or inept), I do believe there to be a very strong correlation there which simply can't be ignored.

It's better for them, employers, and it would force colleges to truly add value to justify their cost. The student loan crisis would diminish. The power of govt would erode. Such is the mentality of people who can't think outside their box. Truth is truth no matter who says it. 'Oversight' (and we all know what it really means is saying what is approved) only results in conformity, not value.
I for one strongly advocate for a viable alternative to college in the form of apprenticeships--and not just for vocational jobs. Engineering, law, education, nursing, etc., can all be learned on-the-job instead of a classroom. Kids can be paid to practice REAL skills, solve REAL problems, instead of going into debt. It's better for them, employers, and it would force colleges to truly add value to justify their cost. The student loan crisis would diminish. The power of govt would erode. It's a win-win-win-win-win solution.
