Pet insurance was the best thing I ever did. I do have a purebred dog but later in life he has come up with some digestive issues and Joint issues. Super thankful I had the insurance and didn't have to worry about deciding between his health and well-being and my wallet. The insurance covered several endoscopy surgery as well as all the meds and Recovery Services he needed. Probably save me almost $10,000. It's a great decision. You may never need it but if you do it's a huge savings
Hey Kumiko! When you said that if you save for something with sinking funds then you deserve it really hit home for me. I’m trying to save up for a PlayStation 5 right now and using a sinking fund for it. I know I have the money as of right now but I’m trying to do the mature thing and wait and save up for it. Thanks Kimiko for saying that this is ok. It made me feel a lot better about my decision and felt like I got permission to do it. 🥺😅☺️🎮

Just a thought... check your medical insurance. often they include one free vision exam per year that most people don’t realize is included medically without vision insurance
About your dog, I can highly suggest Earthborn Venture pollock and pumpkin dog food for an allergic doggie. I also supplement her food with some sardines and canned salmon. I also can highly recommend having LASIK eye surgery. Wow what a difference in my life. 5k for the surgery but no more expensive glasses, contacts or chemicals.
Just bumped into your channel. Great video. I’m learning to budget and have a question. Do you have the money you’re saving for different things in different bank accounts or is it all in one account?
You can explain to the buyer that they are buying out the remaining loan amount. People get title loans and just have the buyer go with them to pay off the loan whether with a bank, title loan, etc. Hardest part is getting the buyer to agree with the price needed to get loan paid off. If you simply get out of the red then you should be able to sell it easily.
Hi Miko! I am just wondering why sinking funds are included in your "income". Especially if you are analyzing how much money you are saving or sending to debt each month. It makes your "income" higher which then makes the percentage that you are saving or putting to debt lower but your savings rate or debt pay off rate is actually higher than you are calculating.
I feel like this gets brought up every month; it never gets answered... This is all a right brained exercise disguised as an analytical one. There are a lot of analytical and accuracy issues with this pen and paper system, but it serves the purpose of keeping people mindful of their expenses.
@@mirainoivuyo984 It just doesn't make sense to me...the money is being accounted for more than once. The first time when it comes in as "true" income and then when it comes in as "sinking fund" income. Also, the term "incoming income" just confuses me 🤔. I usually just calculate my percentage based on any "true" income that comes in, once it distributed to other places, it never comes back into my budget. I treat my sinking funds as true funds...I add to them and I spend from them and I just keep a starting balance and an ending balance each month.
Try to answer your questions from what I watch and hear from her videos She don't put all her sinking funds into "Income" Category, she just put the sinking funds that she know she will used that month into that "Income" area For example like adding Christmas Sinking Funds just in Nov/Dec "Income", because you know you will spend it to buy Christmas gift etc And in the month of January, the Christmas Sinking Funds will back to "Savings" Category Hope it make sense
@@nuuraisyah225 Yes, I understand this but money is being accounted for twice. The first time when she made the money and saved it and the second time when she uses it. It screws her numbers and makes the income falsely higher which makes the percentages falsely lower, like for instance the percentage she is saving or putting to debt or her grocery budget.
@@yojs17_ Yeah, I agree: this is very confusing. The definition of income here is different from what an accountant would call income and I think that's where people can get totally confused. I think it's misleading to calculate percentages month to month with the way income is calculated here. By the logic presented, if someone used a whole bunch of their sinking funds that month, it's going to look like they spent less on food because it would be a lower percentage with a higher "income" amount. And "income" aside, percentages aren't a good thing to track for the reason that having more money shouldn't cause you to spend more money to maintain a percentage. If I got a $1,000 bonus for the month, I shouldn't expect to spend $70 more on food because I want to maintain 7% (not that someone would do that, but hopefully you get my point). With this system, even your starting balance is considered "income" when it actually came from earned income in the previous months. If anything, this system does align with the idea of Zero Based Budgeting where all the money you have for the month is given a job; close out your budget and then do it all over again. What needs to be recognized (and I keep hoping she will one day bring this up...) is that the same dollar can end up being counted as income over and over and over again. If you were to add all your "income" over the past 12 months, that would definitely NOT reflect your actual earned income (I wish!) Ultimately, if I were to be honest (and I know no one cares) this is not the most effective reporting tool; this is a meditative practice for people to focus on their finances and it works for a lot of people and she explains it in a way that makes sense in its own way. If you come into this with any kind of analytical or accounting background, you are going to get confused. Just my two cents. I love budgeting videos and I love her personality and Ryen's, so I tune in and support , but I feel you on that question about sinking funds being considered income... 😬
Im a little confused 😕 i budget myself.. but like how you think. Are you counting your moneys in your sinking funds from october as income for november? And also could you give an example of your cashflow? How do you track that?
Question regarding incoming income: if you use your sinking funds for income then do you not track that as part of what’s already in your cash envelopes?
You sell it at the bank, the bamk gets the check and you pay the remaining right then. Its done all the time. Its just that people have gotten lazy, I like knowing I get the title from the bank...makes it more secure.
Ryen, have you looked into selling to Caravan or other dealerships? I recently sold my vehicle to caravan. I thought I would be upside down but I actually got $1700 after my car loan was paid in full.
My pets (3 dogs) have no real issues but my pet budget is still $250 per month. This includes my yearly pet licensing fee as well. They are my family as well.
I’m so sad 😞 the workbook is sold out. This is my first time becoming serious about my income and would have love to have the workbook to keep me motivated 😩
Ryan You should look at Petsmart at the hemp chews for anxiety for your furbaby! We have a dog with extremely high anxiety and they have absolutely worked wonders for him!
Wr have vision insurance but my new eye doctor accepts our medical insurance because they can do a more thorough exam, where as my eye insurance we have a separate charge for a contact exam, pictures, etc. I would recommend looking into it - instead of paying $130 for exams and pictures, i paid $65 billing through our medical.
The right buyer is sometimes Carmax or a dealership. You may be surprised. It is worth a visit. It could be cheaper than putting $900 a month on a car you are not keeping. I am retired from the auto industry and I have seen people save thousands that way.
Question for Ryen....just since your a monthly expense trackerer and a twice a month paycheck budgeter. When you get paid (5th & 20th) and withdraw 'envelope' money ...do you put a 'deposit' line on your CASH expense tracker? The reason I ask, is that I've seen it on some that use your system, but never on your trackers.
Neither Miko or Ryen keep an updated balance for their cash trackers because that balance is usually split between several envelopes so it’s not relevant. However if you do keep a total balance on your cash expense tracker yes you would add that as a withdrawal on your debit card and a deposit into your cash expense tracker But don’t forget you DO NOT include it as income in your where did my money go worksheets because it’s an internal transfer not income
I watch these videos on repeat, but I still get confused with my income. I get paid mid month and the end of the month, so my last paycheck technically pays the bills in the beginning of the following month. That being said, how am I actually doing this worksheet if one of my paychecks pays for bills in two different months? I still stay within budget, but I always do this particular worksheet wrong. Can you do a video on that?
100% agree on the animal comment. Dogs are so expensive, and if you cannot afford to give the animal a good life, DONT GET ONE. Animals are not accessories, they are family members. Also, if you are giving your animal shitty food and no veterinary care but you buy a new phone or car, you are not prioritizing them & that infuriates me.
Question for you: If you have a transaction that spans multiple categories of your expenses, how do you determine that with the sales tax? Would I split it between all the items on the transaction?
When I first started paying off my debt, and every penny counted, I would calculate the taxes of each category's expense. Now that I'm debt free I throw all the tax (if it's negligible) into whichever category can take the hit better. It just saves time.

When will your full size budget by paycheck workbook be back in stock? I keep checking :) how long would it take to get to twin cities, mn?
Really useful thank you
Question for Ryen....just since your a monthly expense trackerer and a twice a month paycheck budgeter.
However if you do keep a total balance on your cash expense tracker yes you would add that as a withdrawal on your debit card and a deposit into your cash expense tracker
But don’t forget you DO NOT include it as income in your where did my money go worksheets because it’s an internal transfer not income
@@coral-annbirnie4159 so, your x-mas SF only gets tracked as cash spent if you bring it back into your checking acct?
After writing down receipts do you still have to keep them?
I watch these videos on repeat, but I still get confused with my income. I get paid mid month and the end of the month, so my last paycheck technically pays the bills in the beginning of the following month. That being said, how am I actually doing this worksheet if one of my paychecks pays for bills in two different months? I still stay within budget, but I always do this particular worksheet wrong. Can you do a video on that?
Rescue dogs are not that risky or expensive. There are plenty of healthy rescues.
Can you tell me when the budget by pack check will be Available again? I’ve been watching the website and it’s still sold out. 😞
Thank You!
Will the book version become available again or only the box set and printable?
Are the workbooks available to buy?
This may be a silly question, but what does STCU stand for under the Account column?
Cash tracker question. I noticed the starting balance was $200+ but the expenses were $500+. How is that possible?
When can I order the Budget by paycheck workbook?
Please show more cashless examples, and tracking.
YES!
@@lizzielizardlipz Thanks for your answer! I appreciate it!
What is Ryen’s youtube channels name?
What pens do you use under the highlighters?
Hey! When will more budget by paycheck workbooks be available?
I saw January is when they are gonna be able to restock
Do you plan to do black Friday sales next year too?
Yes 🥰
When is the full size workbook going to be back in stock !!!! I really need it before the new year starts 😅
Same! I would love to buy one since I prefer the bound planners and been deliberately avoiding buying the printable version.
She mentioned in her IG it will restock in January.
@@trinity123 thanks! I don’t use Instagram and just found her through someone else on RUclips. She didn’t happen to say what day did she?
@@BeverlyAdventures she only said the beginning of January. She’s very active on IG, she posts there every day giving tips and advice. She also does live stream every Friday so you’ll learn a lot from her IG (if you’re willing to try IG).
How do all of you budgeteers cash flow small purchases on a budget? I have very little wiggle room since I have so many sinking funds but would love to be able to cash flow a birthday gift here and a movie there… Thanks. Budgeting is an obsession of mine but I’m tightening up this year due to 3 kids heading off to college next month (no I am not paying for it!) and one getting married next year.
I love this video. Why did you put Costco savings as a expense. Is it because you won’t spend it in that month, like an emergency fund?
Correct, it's an ongoing sinking fund
Thank you
Ryen- maybe try Cbd oil for your dog?
I wish you would go into more explanation for your cash tracker. I am obviously missing something because to me it looks like you spent over $500.00 but the only cash you had was $218.00 ??
Would love to have your help I've tried to go by your videos but I dont think I make enough money and feel like I'm sinking instead of saving. Tired of paycheck to paycheck
I'm so happy you posted this i got the BBP workbook and I'm going to start it in January..I'm planning stuff now for it..bring it on 💕..also i seen on your FB that your giving away the wallet..i don't have a FB..anyway i can still enter..i could really use that wallet 💖
You can get perfectly fine prescriptions online for maybe around $20 a pair.
Hello Budget Friends!
What advice would you give to someone who is about to start budget planning and is below rock bottom; bad credit, student loans, a totalled car who isn't paid off, new credit cards in the collection due to losing your business during covid. I literally want to cry writing this, I look forward to hearing from you.
Try feeding your dog (frozen) spinach with a table spoon of coconut oil everyday and it cures skin problems.
miko can your method work for people in a diffrent counrty i live in the uk and im new at budgeting but i am going to try doing it in the new year by following your method but will it work?
Yes🥰
Whats a sinking find ?
Do you ship to the ok
I never understood if your using cash how do you go over budget??? Once the money is gone isn't it gone? 😕
If you have a CarMax near by they will buy your car. You can go there and they will give you a free quote and give you 5 days to decide.
