In building the bead that you flatten into a pad, did you build it that rapidly? I'm new to laser welding and the bead falls off the wire if I go that rapidly.

This process only works on diamonds, shooting from the side to get full penetration will damage colored stones. The use of redi-prongs saves time here. Johns prep is perfect then the redi-prong is placed further over the stone approx 2/3 on stone. Then the first Tac will penetrate 100% to the girdle making filling from the sides not needed. This allows you to retip colored stones. Then backfill to the outside of the prong until its completely rebuilt, using the rebuilt material as reflection shield for your colored stone. Making balls and flattening them is very time consuming even using a burst mode to get all uniform size balls the redi-prongs are much faster and more uniform. I do hundreds of tips a week with this method, as well as the ball method on Micro-pave. In 2004 I became the first Certified Master Laser Welder Instructor in the world.

Hello Everyone, I am looking for the user manual for Rofin Sinar RS 100 D, ND YAG Laser. I got it used, it appears to work, but I cannot say for sure as I don't know how to start it. Each piece of information will help me to put it to work.

I've used one to repair a motherboard. computer repairs as hobby, cause for the life of me, I can't still master the electric pen. my fault cause been using a cheap one instead of buying a real pen. I just use my torch.

@@stonehand49 Not only that ,laser weld is welding only on the outside of retipped prong and isn't strong. If you use more intensity to weld it all the way thru then you will burn your diamond. I have been using this welder for about 18 years now.
