That brought back some great memories. Back in the early 1970’s the creek near my childhood home was concreted and turned into a storm water drain just like that one. We went from looking for frogs and tadpoles to carving the big open walls. Watching this vid momentarily took me back to those carefree days. Thank you.
Would love to be able to ride one of these one day...we don't really have anything like this in flat ground Florida. Must have been a dream to experience!
@@xx_somescenecath0lic_xx888 The 70's was a great time to grow up in Australia. As kids we had lots of freedom. There wasn't any social media so none of the pressures that accompany it that kids have to deal with today. Drugs were not the problem that they are today. I didn't use drugs and I didn't know anyone who did. School was strict, the teachers used to hit us when we did the wrong thing as a result I think we were mostly respectful of authority. One of the greatest things about the 70's was the music. I probably sound like an old man but I don't think today's music is anywhere near as good. I got my first surfboard in the 70's the line up is way more crowded these days. There also seems to be more encounters with sharks in the surf these days too. I'm biased looking back through the rose coloured glasses of my youth but I remember the 70's fondly.
chris .What's your fav song from back then? Also, idc if you sound like an old man, it make you sound even more wise! And thx for answering my questions! ❤️
mauritano definitely needed this chill vibe with everything going on right now. Check out some of my carver videos, I think you may enjoy them as well. Wishing the best for you from Florida.
My carver has been the only thing keeping me sane here in Florida through all of this. Strange, our skateparks are still open. Even for my neighborhood streets though, I've been having fun imagining new lines.
This video takes to places I will never had the chance to go; takes me to moments I will never be able to live or experience; takes me to somewhere nostalgia has settled down. A nostalgia for moments I only lived in my wildest dreams. A nostalgia for something that certainly will never come. Since I am a guy from a country so far away from the location of this video where only few have the chance to afford a surfskate (and what is more, a chance to spend their free time riding it), I can only imagine how beautiful the experience would be. Lucky you all who can spend time riding this beautiful thing. You have lived for the rest of us who will never feel this experience.
I was in Phoenix in '86-'88, going towards an Assoc. Deg. in Architectural Design. The Ditches there, and down thru Scottsdale were insane! This brings back many good memories! Being Downhiller/Luger/Slalomer from New-England, I WEDGED my Trucks, even putting Indy's up-front, Tracker's at the rear, to get that forward-truck-steering Bias, as to make cut-back slashes quicker/lower, but, then, also to pump the Tranny. "PSR"
I feel you on that, we don't have anything like this in Florida! Try setting up some cones for different wave setups. I've got some videos on my channel that go into detail about surf skates. Hope they could be of some use to you!
These canals run from the mountains to the ocean in some parts in so cal. These are everywhere and in 1938 we had a nasty flash floods and these are the end result I think. Some of these wee once actual rivers with flowing water 👀
Here are some tips to perform well on your Carver! 1) Always lead with your eyes. If you look down, that's where you're going 2) Try to pump with your core, glutes and quads not so much with your knees 3) Remember to breathe . The most successful sessions are the ones where you are relaxed and having fun. Just like surfing 4) You can set up cones in your driveway to mimic waves. I've rode my Carver for years and it's all I ride now. I've got some videos on my channel that go into detail about how to get the most out of your surf skate. Thanks for making such a fun product Carver!
They have some insane steep and large ditches between Cypress and Long Beach off the Ball Rd, when I was a kid people would go straight down on a Black Knight skateboard. Me what he was doing.
Just ordered this board. I'm 5'9 and weigh 83kg. Will this board be to long for me ? Thought of having this as a all-rounder. Cruising carving and some fun and play.. this will be my first carver board. I have a 29" waterborne trucks on the other with wheelbase of 14". Fun board and snappy.. but wanted a bigger board with longer wheelbase for more speed and stability .. have a made the right choice ?
@Carver Surf & barres do you notice any resistance on those wheels ? Very grippy.. i managed to generate more speed on a cheap NKD bubble board than the Carver black tip 32,5" . That's weird since the carver is 3x more expensive..
Guys I need help, should I get a board with CX or C7 trucks for my first one? I don't surf but I snowboard so I want something similar to that if possible.
I don’t think surf skate will ever catch on in any big way. Skaters aren’t willing to try this and surfing just isn’t as big as it used to be. Maybe I’ll be wrong tho. I love both sports dearly and I kinda hope there’s a breakthrough with surf skates. Edit: put a decent kick tail on that thing, show some surf skaters using it, and let the skaters go ham... another idea: sell the trucks separately and bring the price down.
J. F. M. The majority of its users are surfers trying to keep their edge while away from the water. I don’t think it’s going to explode as long as it’s seen as a alternative to surfing.
@@RATsnak3 yeah, you're probably right but it's ashame. I've always hated skates and as soon as I tried a carver I was convinced, it was so fluid and flexible unlike the rigidity that characterizes skates...
Right for sure. But how about taking a pause with all of this and let the kid in you rides peacefully One hour a Week. For sure that will give more sense to taxes, traffic, avoiding debt. Damn i should have been commercial instead of therapist :-)
Balbuzard 85 ...I did full overhaul of my C7 trucks and bearings, sanded down my 33” “Green Room” deck, recoated it and started skating ahead of my wife while she runs. I believe this crisis is putting things back into perspective.
Oliver Geoffrey Blakely ...Agreed totally. Luckily my workout is 3 blocks away at the beach but It’s been completely flat with no waves even for my 9’6 log.
Back to the roots. Thank you Carver 🔝
That looks simply insane. Thank god for skateboarding, surfing & snowboarding
I never would have believed surfing would be illegal and skateboarding would still be legal!
It's back to the 80's! Riser pads, big wheels. Think I even had the same hair cut 🤣 Love it 👍
Is kinda true. Carver is an old school skate, the innovation is the truck
That place is a surfskate heaven! Getting more jealous every time I rewatch this. Awesome!

I could watch this on loop for daaaays! 😍😍🌊🛹
The footage is sooo beautiful!
What a sick place to absolutely rip on a Carver! Looks so fun!
Matthew Wetmore right!? Dream spot
Surf Skate, this is how we skated in the 70s. Konaboyz now in Hawaii but then San Diego.
Aloha.

So much style back then! There were tricks, but the way somebody rode the board down a road was a performance in itself
Such a great video! Thanks for sharing the stoke and good vibes. Love these videos!
The ditch at 2: 19 looks so perfect. No usual holes on the walls for pressure relief.
Thanks god for skateboarding and surfing, snowboarding 🏂🏄♂️ 🌊 🛹 ❤🥰.

I might be a bit late but I hope this helps, C7 is smoother and more drawn out and the CX is tighter and snappier
