Being British this was the vinyl version I originally knew. Cold Hearted Man was always well known to me, When I got the US version on CD I could not believe hearing the slightly different versions of some songs. Extra singing in the chorus of What's Next To The Moon and the extended intro to Kicked In The Teeth to name but a few. Two great albums!!
Same for me here in Sweden. Never come to tems with the US version, still very very good but for me the european version is better.
The best rock band ever and great bands know it too.
Oh my goodness. This is amazing. WHY won't they give us releases of these mixes without the awful compression in all the newer versions? Us die hard fans appreciate this far more than the brick walled versions we have now. I've never heard this before and IMMEDIATELY loved how raw, dry, and dynamic it is. The drums sound phenomenal. Can't thank you enough for sharing this. What a treat. ♥️
I can her more of Mal's timbre in this mix. It is a little bit heavier.
Listening to this version for the first time, I can hear the difference in the mix on Gimme a Bullet. Seems like lead guitar is down a bit and the rhythms/bass are more clear. Pretty cool.

even without "cold hearted man" the track sequencing is better on this version, and the bass and drums sound more 70's. The aussie/current version is the same plus overdubs and a different mix. i love both!!!!
I've been an AC/DC fan for fourty years, and I've never heard this version of the album until now, even though I knew it existed. Great mix.

I first heard this mix on here, via another now deleted upload, about 4 years ago. I own a few copies of it too. I prefer it over the finished mixes.
Fan since 1986, well you guys can't be too Huge of fans : ) cold hearted man was on "Volts" which was a Bon tribute CD with unreleased songs
& some Live stuff. Angus said there wasn't much left overs because most of the stuff they Jammed out They recorded.
Gonna do a review for this Album sometime, because I got a messed up copy of this back in 1986.

My favourite Album
Bought the original version, without rnr damnation back in 78 for the princely sum of £1.99 from Woolworths . I still think this is the best version of their best album.
Thanks for this upload. It's the best quality recording of the Original European Version I've heard to date. I like the vinyl version much more than the later digitally remastered and compressed CD versions. Powerage has always been my favorite AC/DC album. My favorite songs from this album are: 1. Down Payment Blues, 2. What's Next To The Moon, 3. Cold Hearted Man, 4. Gone Shootin', ... pure AC/DC blues rock sound.

I see it the same way. Brian always did his best, but I liked Malcolm's riffs the most. I think Angus once said his brother can play the guitar better, well, both guitars worked together brilliantly.@@shewolfcub3

Wow, this was an interesting treat! It’s like a mixture of Powerage songs on the Let There Be Rock production. I knew this mix exists but never got to listen to it until now. I can’t say which one I like better, but this sure is an enjoyable version with a more aggressive and sharper edge to the performance. A good ”alternative”! 💪

UK album started with Gimme A Bullet. This sounds like the UK one, except they included Rock N Roll Damnation. Cool. Thanks for posting this. I preferred the UK Powerage to the American one, and this one sounds like it.

its Just Powerage with an extra track. cold hearted man. Not sure when this was released, I doubt it came out in 1978.
with Lp's they re do / remix some old ones. what would have made it interesting if it had a Different Album Cover.

This is the original. It was rush released for European tour, then was remixed, with some overdubs. Which then became the standard version
This is the original. It's the only version I've ever known until I learned about the US version 10 years ago.
This is the original mix, but the very first copies didn't have rock n roll damnation. (I have one). The label wanted a song with no guitar solo and a bit more radio potential...
I have this on LP (no Rock'n'Roll Damnation) and the US version on CD. My favourite AC/DC album. It's all good!

I've bought a 3 album box set back in 1982 and this is the powerage record from that set, no lead in what's next to the moon or backing vocals

I still have the original cassette from Atlantic, released before this version. It's the exact same but doesn't have Rock n Roll Damnation. There's also an identical version on vinyl that has it on the sleeve track listing but it's not on there. Apparently it was rushed for a European release. They should have left it alone. This version is much better

I have the euro mix Vinyl and doesn’t have Rnr damnation. Starts with Gimmie a bullet. Damnation I believe was in the reissue released after there tour ??!!
Yes, damnation was on the reissue, later in '78. The (very first) original UK version had Cold Hearted Man. I got that one on vinyl.

It's not a reissue.this is the original mix. I got the LP 2 days before I seen them on the Powerage tour.. the American label wanted more radio friendly song's so Vanda and young got the band to do you over dubs to please the American market.that is the version that made It to CD.
@@briancarr9297 I believe only the first several '78 Euro pressings had this original mix. Once it was remixed that was the standard everywhere.. vinyl, cassette or CD
@@56Century Not quite. I bought my vinyl copy this version in the late 80's. To my best knowledge this was the only version available atleast in Sweden (import aside) until the reissue on CD.

pareciera q en los coros del disco en especial damnation lo hiciera malcolm solo junto con bon pero cliff ya estaba y tambien era de coros , en damnation pareciera q ,malcolm hieciera los coros , esta version europea me parecio genial, diferente a la internacional. si alguien menciona en q paises salieron estas versiones, vivia hace años en italia y estaba la version de ahi, pero recdo q la orden de las canciones estaba normal, esta version , pareciera q estaba justo, creo yo, en proceso de acabado final, me parece q es una filtracion de la maqueta del album terminado
The voice track ain´t the same in this album, correct me if i am wrong, but i hear some diffrent things in Bon´s voice

Because the record company thought a different mix and a louder, compressed sound would sell better.
This was the original mix, later to be remixed with some overdubs added
From where I come from is the classic one! ..and the reason I rate Powerage the best one from the band.

This version of What's Next to the Moon is so much better. Love all of Angus' solos, but that one in the international version is unnecessary with how good and hard that riff is underneath.

Either that or cassette (vinyl is much more likely, though). The final mix was the only one ever released on CD
It's vinyl, you can sometimes hear a faint crackle.

It's really not that much different than the u.S version other than cold-hearted.Man which is a very short song and it's okay probably my least favorite song of the album and i've heard it before. This was the opus of their albums.I know, let there be rock was kick a**But this was the pinnacle to me.This is better than highway to hell Or back in black. Sin cityGimmie a bullet And gone shooting are my favorite songs .
