What a superb review. I like your constructive criticism and some call outs of some bad trends. Too many expensive extras is a part of the cruise experience today. But you talk of the well-trained and seemingly happy crew as well and also give a sense of what goes on in various parts of the ship. Your review of the limits of 4 people in a balcony cabin was very useful. And I absolutely love the term "modern nostalgia" to describe the ship. I think a ship needs a sense of nostalgia to feel like a ship. I'm not sure this is in the new Sun Princess and I certainly feel it really isn't in much of the Celebrity Edge class. But it seems to be in Cunard, even the Queen Anne and HAL ship. Again, a truly, stellar job. Now, here is one thing I don't care for. I don't understand the dancing in the atrium. I like it much better in a ballroom and in lounges. Celebrity does this as well. I prefer the HAl and Cunard approach of having the atrium as a relatively quiet central point and having the dancing to whatever style of music you prefer in its own enclosed hall or lounge.
A tip for anyone wanting the Sabatinis pasta, but don´t want to pay for the full meal: get the made to order pasta in the buffe. All the pasta is made in Sabatinis kitchen and they just cook it in the buffe.
