Do you have any recommendations for regression? I just started taking care of my niece who turns 4 next month and because of the really unstable situation she has been in for so long she has regressed quite a bit. One thing she does is when she gets a new pull up sometimes will run directly to the bathroom and poop in it instead of the toilet. I feel that a lot of the advice in this video would feel to “babyish” to her. She does intellectually know what to do but I haven’t yet dug into the psychology of regression (on my to do list for today) so I’m not sure how to go forward. I have never had kids so any advice is greatly appreciated!

After they use the toilet, you can put a clean diaper on using the standing diaper change method. At school, we had many children who were learning to use the toilet while still wearing diapers. This gave them time to grow more comfortable with the toilet while not worrying about eliminating in their pants. Cotton training pants work well too, they're a thicker underwear that won't leak as much if they miss the toilet.

Staying without peeing for 2-3 hours seems unreasonable. Especially if they still drink milk.

How often would they be drinking milk do you mean? My toddler is 2 and has milk before bed and in the mornings only, but she goes a solid 3 hours with a dry nappy. This is my 4th day trying to potty train - yesterday she was ok; one accident and two successful potty-goes, and today she did not want to go anywhere near the potty!
