    Good Trouble takes place in 2018, they say it at one point in the episode (don't remember when, sorry) but it makes sense since the show started in 2013 and Callie was a sophomore, and she graduated in Season 5 that means The Fosters only takes place during a year and a half so 5 years after is more or less 2018 (Season 1 was probably in 2012)
    I would have loved to see the 5 siblings and the mamas more even though they don't live together anymore but apart from that I really enjoyed the first episode !

    To answer your question of when this series is taking place: I'm guessing since the fosters aired in 2013 and over the course of the five season, they covered about 2 years - putting the series in 2015 when Callie graduated high school - I'd imagine that it's 2019 or 2020

    I related so much to Mariana when she was enthusiastic and brave to speak to her boss but to, later on, get reported to HR. Except, I had to sign a paper when all I said I am seeking to move to another position... Somehow, somewhere over the rainbow, that was bad and looked "ungrateful" "distasteful" and "unappreciative" to the position I currently have.

    Happy New Year Lisa! Missed you!
    Loved the premiere; it allowed for more developing storylines so we as the viewers can sink our teeth into as the show progresses. And speaking of progress, I am loving the character of Gael. The fact that he sleeps with Callie then goes to being with a man is somethi g televison has been desperately missing. However there are a few things I think we should keep our eyes on
    1. Callies clerkship and introduction to law is very important: she states she does make things harder for herself. But if you recall in one of the earliest scenes she was given a code of ethics handbook and this will play a important role as Callie immerses herself further into uer career. Will she do something that is perceived as misconduct to land herself in some kind of trouble, especially when you realize she in competition with Ben and Rebecca?
    2. The overconsumption of alchol and sex are very important to young adults. In this generation, alcohol, drugs and sex are seen as symbols of independence but can also viewed as crutches. Will Callie and Marianna use these as escapes to fill the void they will inevitably feel throughout the show?
    3. Mariana makes more money than Callie, because of her specific career field. I wonder if this may cause some form of sibling rivialry between them.
    Just some points I thought of as I was watching the show. Still highly enjoyed it and I cannot wait to see the Adams-Foster family come to town.

    I think this takes place 5 years after Callie's high school graduation. It would make sense, since the college she applied allowed for her to get her J.D. in 5 years, and if Mariana graduated the year after Callie, then she could have finished her 4 years of college by the start of the series. I think the time line plays out to about present time now, actually. Season 1 (the episode with gay marriage being legal) was the same year as us. But then, in season 2, they started slowing things down. Jude was 13 (he turned 13 in season 1) and he stayed 13 until season 4. Usually on TV shows, one season is year. But they really lagged behind. By the time season five came out (before the time skip) I feel like they were three or four years behind. So maybe they're a year ahead, like they're in 2020, but I don't think they're in 2024. But who knows? I could be totally wrong, lol.

    So the first episode of this spin-off show of 'The Fosters' has BIG shoes to fill! That being said, I hope it gets better because it's no where near the level of good as the original show. It also seems to be going in a drastically different direction! It's not helped that one of it's two leads is one of the LEAST popular characters from the original show. Mariana continues to be quite annoying through out the episode! All the use of social media, apps and technology feels like it takes focus away from the story and will really date this show in the future. Also, who gets drunk and then goes shopping?!?! There were a few too many montage to song moments in this episode. One would have been more than enough! The actresses looked uncomfortable and awkward during them too. The only new character that intrigued me at all is Gael. I haven't seen to many bisexual Latino characters in stuff. It doesn't hurt that he's also super sexy and very nice. I hoping the other new characters will be developed more because so far they are just seeming like stereotypes or boring. There is potential for a good show here.

    I've always loved the fosters. And I will still rewatch it. And probably keep watching good trouble. But I don't like how it paints conservatives in bad light. Now, they don't do it too much, (the foster did it more) but not all conservatives are racist. Now, I'm not a conservative. But I'm pretty close with a few liberals and conservatives, so I tend to see things from both sides. I do agree that black lives matter, but now at days, tv shows are pressing liberal agendas, and mostly let the conservative side look bad. I guess I won't even get into the subject of how shows don't focus on shootings of black cops killing white people, or black people killing black people. I know white cops do shoot black people, and it's a problem. But I think we don't focus on it unless it's a black person getting shot. But that's all I'll say about that. I'm not trying to start a fight, I do like how this show presses for equality. But it seems to me that some of the things shows (not just this one) push is something that doesn't happen all that often. Like Mariana somehow always manages to be looked down upon by her male coworkers. I don't think men, especially in this day age, are that putting down of women. Most men are respectful, and you know, generally won't put a woman down for being smart. In reality, they probably wouldn't talk to her much, or each other much, because that's how real life works. Anyway, back to my main point. How conservatives are painted in a bad light. I'm not saying I want the show to tone down the liberal-ness of the show. But I would like this show (or at least a single show) to have a conservative character, who isn't bad, racist, or how the media portrays them. They don't just not care about problems. They're not just violent homophobic people. Some conservatives can be just as nice, or even nicer than a liberal. But shows don't portray that anymore. Again, I don't hate the show. And I know these problems exist. I just A: Don't think they're as bad as media makes it seem (yes, a black person got shot by a white cop. But so did a white person.) and B: Don't see why we need to make conservatives look like literal villains. I just wanna see a fleshed out, actually human, (not bigoted) conservative. And yes, they do exist. Contrary to what tv says now at days. Again, I'm not a conservative. I just think shows like these just indulge people into problems, and then they get way more built up. However, this is a good show, I love the characters (I loved the fosters) and I can't wait to keep watching.

    • @rockandrolldude22
      @rockandrolldude22 5 лет назад +1

      I said something similar i feel like the show is trying to be a PSA of "We are one big happy liberal diverse family" and if you not "You are a bigot". I like representation i am a gay guy so i like seeing gay guys in the show and i like lesbians. I just feel like the last season of the foster and now with the spin off is trying to make the show more of a political statement then a show. It just feels like they are trying to make it more of 2 liberal women try to make it in a mans word and beat the conservatives. Then a spin of. I love the The fosters and i like good trouble i just feel like they are taking a good show and molding it to show "These are the good guys". I watch TV to stay out of politics not hear about them.

      @@rockandrolldude22 I'm so glad someone agrees with me. I wanted to say how I also don't like that shows are political, because I really don't. But I left that part out because I felt like people would say how the show "wasn't made for me" or something. Personally, I don't like it when shows get political. Because they usually do make one better than the other. But yeah, I do like the representation of gay characters and a diverse cast. That, they got right.

      @@bellesterling9564 Fosters did a good Job of that they showed a character who happened to be gay and gave them a story. No gays or even trans felt like they were pushed in their and the show was not geared towards gays it was to anyone and did not have politics. Until the season where the Latina girl and her family fought with Ice and hid in a church. And when Jude said "how can they do this to people?" It's not that simple. If your going to involve politics don't make it 1 sided. The thing I did like is that Aaron was pro free speech and he say things as freedom of speech and not hate speech. It showed that you can have trans people that are not 100 percent liberal. I use to grow up watching charmed and the thing I hate is when they made the new one with black and Latino girls and it was all about feminism. When she said no, they man asking her to started insulting her. I know some issues are important, but after he pressured her, they tried painting him in a good light. He couldn't accept her opinion, and I don't know if they did this on purpose, but it seemed like since he was a liberal, and was fighting for what they believed was right, he was forgiven. I just want a show where everyone is portrayed equally. I know there's problems exist. But A: We don't need every show in existence to focus on it- it's drilled into our heads by now and B: I've always wanted a TV show that showed the world they way they want to see it. Instead of shoving all these problems and politics in our faces, why can't they show the world they wish our world was like? Actually show everyone treating each other equally. And accepting each other for out views. I think that if a tv show actually showed with the world being equal (and not the struggle to get there) it would make a lot more impact. If I watched a show where no one commented on black and white differences, and just showed them living side by side like it was nothing, that makes all the difference. And more depth. I get this show is realistic, and the world doesn't accept each other as much as we like, but they can at least show diversity like it normal. They don't even have to comment on how diverse they are. People should just think it's normal. I hope one day we live in a world where we don't have to put any person above another. Or paint someone in a bad light, just because they have a different opinion than us.
