The bridge is humming because it doesn't know the words.
Lol
Haha
Beat me to it 😂
the bird is the word
PFFFFT-
Bruh this is straight up minecraft cave noises
Now all you need is a zombie that goes brrr.
Skeleton goes tkckkt
creeper goes boom
But what does the fox say?
Spider goes sssss
Chicago's "Windy City" moniker is because of the politics, not the wind speed
I think its actually from a native plant that used to grow there before the city was built, walking and crushing it makes a fart smell and its attributed that the natives named it after farts and then the early settlers did to.
Ahh the smug.
Exactly!
The noise is kind of calming for me.
Agreed. Very calm.
Sounds no more annoying than an airport. I don't see why they are complaining. Seems good for tourism. Just say "Hey, our bridge might not be gold but it does sing" get over it. You live in one of the largest cities in the US and you main source of tourism is your probelm.
@CAL HOLMAN is it louder than we hear? I'm curious.
WE TURNED THE BRIDGE INTO THE WORLDS BIGGEST HARMONICA!
LETHAL WEEABOO it’s calming until you hear it practically every other day from your bedroom. Trust me, it gets in your head.
RLL : explains the hum with science
Me : THE BRIDGE IS HAUNTED
Probably is
considering the number of people that died during the construction, it most certainly IS haunted and that is a fact.
@@richardbenjamin8535 assuming ghosts exist, and even if they did, would be willing to spend their afterlife haunting.
@@richardbenjamin8535 Should have counted in all those "jumpers" too.
SCP
This is kinda cool. Gives the bridge some personality.
Quirks are not personality!
and also probably causes some metal fatigue, which is kinda bad
The Golden Gate Bridge attracts many people who want to commit suicide. As far as I know it's the most "suicidal" bridge in the world. There's your personality.
@@P3GProductions What personality does the golden gate bridge already have, suicide?
and not the fog that hits the towers that from the deck make the bridge towers looks nearly invisible?
"Ear rattling?" "Eerie?" That's music to my ears!
just imagine if you play your favorite music everyday 7/24
@@Green_Slimey I do...but 24/365/7.
Patrick: "Is the Golden Gate bridge an instrument?"
Squidward: "Apparently yes. And to make space for it in the musical scene, THEY CANCELLED MY CLARINET RECITAL!" *Uncontrollable sobbing*
Cannon is an instrument
It’s just like that SpongeBob episode where the jellyfish won’t leave him alone
Dude I was just thinking that
My first thought too
Peter Grafstein bhahahahaha
Lol I was thinking of that
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING THE SAME THING
America's got talent new contestant:
The Golden Gate Bridge
S Vengat and of course it gets a golden buzzer
That would make the show actually good!😂😂😂
Real life lore 2: “The most iconic bridge in the world”
Sydney harbour bridge has left the chat
tower bridge has left the chat
with respect, I, a Canadian, have never heard of that bridge.
I think the Bay Bridge is the more iconic one in the Bay Area. It connects the two main cities which have a huge rivalry with each other.
MineRoyale connects Sydney to north Sydney. It’s the bridge next to the Sydney opera house in all those photos 😁
People would know the Golden Gate more often than the Sydney Harbor though.
I live in the SF Bay Area and I almost never go on the golden gate because I almost never go to Marin County. The Golden Gate may be the more famous bridge but the Bay Bridge has far more traffic.
So how soon until someone learns to "play" or orchestrate the Golden Gate bridge to actually play a song?
Just ask MrBeast
Somebody should pitch this idea to Rob Scallon
Which song? Bridge Over Troubled Water?
Probably a while? I think it would take weather control or a giant installation that alters air flow across the bridge.
Great video! Keep up the great work man. Love the videos!
My Great Inter-Korean bridge has unlimited capacity and produces the greatest tune known to man, THE NORTH KOREAN ANTHEM!

Is it really you
karumuri harshith 🤦♂️
Loser
@karumuri harshith yes it's really him, it's been proven multiple times
Didn’t realize that this wasn’t regular RLL but RLL2 and i was just startled hearing the voice being a little different
The humming kinda sounds like a faint tornado siren to me...
Ethan Neal , it's a magnetic field or resonance. Earths magnetic field is weakening allowing cosmic rays to effect the metal. Think about this all that construction didn't just get put up overnight and the wind didn't just start blowing ask yourself why did it just start happening two weeks ago. Expect a very big earthquake nearby. Plus you don't add more metal to something to make it more aerodynamic.
3:11 sound waves are longitudinal waves though......
Ok nerd
@@LyricsFred Yes call someone a nerd because they are right
Yup
Mahadev Pande , it's a magnetic field or resonance. Earths magnetic field is weakening (solar minimum look it up) allowing cosmic rays to effect the metal. Interesting video as usual, thank you so much for these quality videos!
Neat video! Thanks for uploading!
You should search up "Måløy brua" in Norway. This bridge is in a similar situation as Golden Gate, but people have come to terms with it singing. It actually is a good indication for when the bridge is closed, as singing = closed bridge due to strong wind.
When the bridge hummed, I felt that..
Very intriguing! 👍🏻
RealLifeLore should give you a shout out.
Damn, you make good content
I don’t think it’s eerie at all, i quite like the sound the bridge makes
I think it’s the wind
Marble Man 42 I don’t think you know what eerie means
SCP 999 I do know what it means, but everywhere they say the sound is eerie, but I don’t think so
Marble Man 42 it is, because of the new form of the guardrail
Try liking it when you live 3 miles away and are trying to sleep.
@3:10 sound is a longitudinal wave not a transversal wave
wow i was just in SF last weekend, would have been nice to see this before so i wouldn’t get terrified going across it multiple times
Yes the year 2000 and 20...never to be forgotten...
Imo that sound would go perfect in like a foggy scare game or something
there could be a very effective low budget solution to the sound problem. bind reed/twigs mats to the railing and it will break the wind enough to remove the vibrating effect. In state of reed you could also use other cheap material. It should not block the wind to much but just enough.
Honestly, the sound that the bridge is oddly soothing and calming to hear and unlike those creepy or erie sounds
The ponte de 25 abril in Lisbon does this and it's really creepy. Can't imagine living under it
The bridge be vibin’
Yes😎🌁
So it's NOT a Mysterious Humming and never was.
technically yes but most people don't know this
Mysteriously: adverb, "in a way that is difficult *OR* impossible to understand, explain, or identify.
"
Actually a lot of people around the bridge and near SF found it very relaxing and calming. I live in Marin and work in SF, everyone I know sound the bay loves it.... 1 or 2 people don’t but majority do.
Every body gangster till the bridge starts singing
RealLifeLore2: *informational*
Half as Interesting: ok how can i make a comedy video out of this
The Golden Gate Bridge is humming in the tradition of famous San Francisco rock bands.
Journey - Na-naa-nuh-naa-na-na, Na-naa-nuh-naa-naah! (Lovin', Touchin, Squeezin')
Counting Crows - Nah-nuh-na-naaah, Na-nuh-na-na-naah-nahh, Nah-nuh-na-naa-naah, Nah-nuh-nah-naa-naa-na-nah! (A Long December)
I personally LOVE that sound. Doesn't sound remotely weird or creepy to me. Sounds super soothing, calming & happy for me. I honestly think it adds some awesome and unique character to the bridge, too.
"Why The Golden Gate Bridge Is Mysteriously Humming" If we know, why is it mysterious?
Saw it on the news: OK
Saw it on RUclips: surprised picachu face
0:38 Can I just say if you ever plan to stay in Marin county, make sure you have your own transport. The public transport across the bridge is surprisingly limited, as I found out the hard way.
public transport in California? why do that when there is so much space to drive a car........(that's the attitude.)
@@MichaelSidneyTimpson I'm not from California, I just travelled there and yeah, trying to get to Marin county without a car was a bitch!
It sounds like a violin building suspense during a horror film. Its eerie
Perfect for that eerie Silent Hill vibe with dense fog.
Imagine, you are in san francisco but you haven't seen people for miles, it is a very foggy and windy day near the golden gate and suddenly you hear it, the hum
This video was posted over a year ago, but it was just this week that it was announced how they are going to fix the bridge to stop the humming.
I think the sound might be getting picked up more could be due to the recent stay at home orders due to the coronavirus pandemic. I live here and pretty much everyone that could stay home, did stay home. So there was far less traffic on any of the bridges or on public transit, like BART. According to BART, the main electric rail system for the Bay Area, some stations had their ridership drop as high as 95% in March-early May from previous months. Keep in mind, up to 400,000 people ride BART every day. So I'd be willing to bet that with cars not crossing the bridge and changing the airflow as they go by at 65 MPH (when there's no traffic), that's why people can hear it now.
I need someone to make a loop of this
It’s kinda similar to the sound wind going through taught fishing line makes.
I think its pretty cool it does this. Its like it can talk
When did this start? I was there in January and didn't notice.
The same sound i hear in Dubai skyscraper area in windy days i didn't know that before
This is one of the few RLL videos i knew the answer to before watching I'm proud of myself
I live in Marin and I have not heard the humming yet, also I didn't know that they changed out the guard rail. Ik they were doing something to it, but not that.
Will. Pleasure to meet you. I think we and the other guys of Nebula should talk about sound frequencies and sound spectrums.
I’ve was born/raised in SF. Never heard this hum. Probably just got used to it.
damn, just missed this. was there about a year ago when they were still installing the new guardrail. if only i had gone a little later
It’s a soothing sound. I don’t know what this guy is talking about. Plus It’s an early warning system for high wind advisory.
11 minutes after upload. Well that’s impressive
This phenomenon is called "resonant frequency". It is a natural frequency of vibration determined by the physical parameters of the vibrating object. Like a tuning fork.
Wow, this is interesting; I never knew the Golden Gate Bridge made that sound.
Me too.
Btw my name is yours with spaces between letters.

@@CatholicWeeb I also have an account named. John wick. And also K G B.
Another weird thing that did not happen in the USA, but in India is that - The strongest cyclone in 2 - 3 centuries hit and ravaged West Bengal, and it took a whole month to repair all the damage done to the infrastructure.
Last time I was this early was my premature birth
I was a premie too.
Ameha K same
I remember hearing that when the bridge opened, there was a faint hum from the cables
I find it quite calming actually
your looking at the golden gate bridge, there is nobody in the whole city, abandoned cars, trash and backpacks lying around and thiccccc fog covering the streets making it impossible to see more than 50 meters.
𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬.
Wow i know their are 2 KM-110 foghorns on that bridge but it sounds like someone put massive speakers on the towers and played ambient music through them they'd make one heck of a creepy experience if your in the fog on a ship.
The cars passing through the bridge:
Am I a joke to you?
I live in SF and I didn’t even know about this
And now, on America's Got Talent, give it up for the Golden Gate Bridge!
That would make me watch the show and enjoy it!😂
I could do with more details on this air harp. What were and are the dimensions of the gaps.
Finally a non-controversial, very informative and well-made video
Been to San Fran many times and have Never heard it..
The humming sound is heard because those suspension cables are actually huge bass guitar strings, and wind acts as a bow as if the bridge is a huge double bass !
Can someone find an _extended_ audio clip of the hum? all I can find is dozens of news articles giving the same 5 clips, with all but 1 or 2 of them having atrocious audio. I get the bridge is humming, and now I know why, but I sincerely would like to _hear_ what it sounds like, and not with a 3-15 second audio clip.
Who said we aren’t happy we love the sound. It’s calming and sounds like sound bowls. We should take that name of the Windy City. Sorry Chicago.
I've lived in Northern California for 20 years and I've never driven across the Golden Gate. Should probably do that next time I'm in SF.
2020: Hey, I know that it wasn't the best year for humanity, but here, take this, hope this singing bridge can recompense that :)
It is awakening.Fear for your life, for the bridge god knows no mercy.
@@controlledsingularity8084 *I hope it awakens i wanna be friends with the bridge*
chicago: is known as the Windy City
san fransicco: yah that's not right
Imagine all the people in SF going crazy and turning into zombies because of the noise.
RealLifeLore: it’s just the guard rail
The Loch Ness monster that’s been giving birth in the water: yeah what he said
Did not know this.
So the Golden Gate Bridge is making its presence even more known by a sound across the city, interesting.
well if you’re close enough to the bridge the wind itself is louder than the hum generated by the wind so you don’t hear anything except wind which is completely normal
That’s some War of the Worlds shit right there.
I’ve yet to hear it. I live like 3 miles from it. It’s hella dope to drive through in fog no lie
I love it!
Spongebob is just working on his Spongehenge
Wind? My guess before watching the video
It's sighing under the weight of the egos crossing it.
If two blonde sororal twin sisters heard these eerie sounds, they'd want to hide inside the Mystery Machine with the Scooby-Doo gang.
So those humming noises on movies are actually legit? Damnnn
Reminds me of the Half Life 2 highway 17 bridge. Even the humming sounds like Half Lfe 2 ambience.
As soon as you showed the "fix" I saw the problem.
Did they lack sense or did they just not care?
I’ve Heard That Before, Where’d It Come From?? #IKnowIKnowIt
I feel like its gonna collapse
I wish to go in san Francisco CA and see the golden gate bridge
Does anyone else think that noise is kinda nice and adds to the view?
Tmw engineers turned a bridge into the world's largest tuning fork
I live in Marin and I’ve never heard rhis
The noise is making people poop in the streets
