Just built a 12V 280AH for a boat with a 300 A BMS, but couldn't figure out why I had only 3.5 V between B+ and P -, now I know - thank You!
Btw, Daly gave me the link to your video when I asked for explanations.
you need to activate BMS, try this:
- short P- and B-
- apply charge to B+ and P-
one of these should activate BMS.
that's funny that Daly providing a link to this video, it's 2nd time when I hear that BMS seller/manufacturer providing my videos as instruction for BMSs.
If you lose your anchor you can always sub in the bms, 🙂. I used a 60amp BMS on a 280amp pack. My inverter has low voltage cutoff and connected direct to battery busbar. BMS is on 12v circuit.
I recently received the 48V S16 150A model, just waiting for cells to arrive in some weeks 👍
Beautiful demonstration
thanks, waiting for cells to test under heavy load.
Nice information clip. Thanks for sharing with us.
you are welcome
I just ordered the 400 Amp 24 volt model. I hope it's a nice as this one you showed
thank you, I have a question. it can be use as separated to using for a second battery? I planing do this
I think the BMS is big enough for those lifepo4 pack anyway you have good stuff on your channel & you've got one sub from me keep going bro... 👍 nice video.
Thanks for the information, but I'm looking at all different sites , so where do you recommend I source the bms and batteries in the European union . Again good quality information thanks 😊.
I have the same BMS the problem I found was that the balance current was only 35 milliamp
Thanks for the video. Can you help me understand, is a bms the only way to customize depth of discharge? For example if I want to only run battery from 20-80% you set the high and low voltage cutoffs at 20 and 80% voltages? What if I want to do this with batteries that have built in BMS that I can’t customize?
Hi, you could set 20-80% on the charger and inverter as well. BMS is 2nd line of defense. However, if you have a basic inverter that doesn't have the ability to set up cut-off voltage, then BMS should control it.
Sometimes batteries with built-in BMS have ability to adjust settings via bluetooth.
Hello I have a question about how to configure 32 batteries of 3.2 volt, 78amps, which would be the best way to do it and if I have to use a 32s bms or 2 32s bms,Thanks for all the inf, sorry forgot to say is for 48 inverter
for 48V inverter you need 16 cells in series, I personally would go with 2p16S with one 16S version BMS.
Спасибо за ролик, очень помог в настройках Daly, жаль только у них их не так много как у других BMS, да ещё через РС графика как на Денди 90 годов :-(
Dear to activiat by power supply this action should be adopt on all time in future. Pls guid me. Thaks
It's OKI found the app but when I scan for Bluetooth devices it doesn't find my Daly BMS.
What are you going to use the 4s battery for when you get the rest of the cells? I mean what are you going to power with it?
planning to make a nice power solution for rv/boat applications (battery + inverter/charger).
Important question: it is possible (and described somewhere) to connect to this BMS to pull data continously regarding cell voltages and other data to use them in custom control system IoT, MQTT, home automation)? I don't want to use app. I need to be able to take raw data and use it in the way i need.
Do you found answer?
@@Shus93 no. The problem is that 95% of those reviews are sponsored so you can't really trust them.
Hi, would you recomend these bms to convert or use within the 14s 50.4 volt epure trials bike battery made by electric motion? Interested to here your opinion.
only if you derate it by 30-40%. I don't think that it's going to survive 500A. Here is teardown video: ruclips.net/video/_jBhS8DQwTo/видео.html
@@SolarEngineering thanks, yeah I don't think it would last long looking at whats in there...I'll go bms switching a relay route thats capable of the amps. Thanks
great video man, I am looking to install solar power in my van it would need to run a compressor, vacuum, electric pressure washer and other stuff what kinda system would I need? can you give me a guide as to what is needed?
Hi, few questions:
- do you need 120V or 240V
- how many panels will van roof feat?
- where are you located?
@@SolarEngineering I am looking at the 120v, base on the roof size it will be 2 panels and I am located in the Caribbean.
@@sirdiesel9019 ok, I think it would be best if you install all in one system, something like Renogy 48V 3500W or similar. Then you'll need 48V battery bank (I have a video on this channel on how to build it).
Solar panels and batteries will be connected to Inverter/Charger, it's going to be the simplest setup. Also almost every all-in-one inverters/chargers are capable to charge batteries from grid in case you don't have enough solar energy.
I think the next step would be to calculate how big a battery bank you need.
@@SolarEngineering thanks very much for the info it has put a few things into prospective
I can't find a Daly BMS with temperature sensor.
Can you send me a link?
The Aliexpress link doesn´t work...(in germany?).
Does the low temperature cut off work?
Best regards and thanks for the video
Tobi
Hi Tobi, I checked link and it works for me. I got it from a store named: "DALY Official Store" maybe try to search it on Aliexpress.
I'm waiting for cells to arrive and then going to do a detailed test of this BMS.
Can it actually charge without and output?
Hello. on which side the fan blow out the air? Blow out at the fan side or on the BMS side?
on the BMS
Can you help.me how many amps of bms can be use for my 180ah 24v life04 battery ? Thanks
it all depends on how many amps you planning to pull/push from/to the battery.
180Ah could be safely charged with 36A and discharge amps about 90-180Ah (depends how pack built)
hi, great job, that 500A BMS connected to 4 280ah EVE cells, can you discharge at 500A?
please check cells specification (discharge rate).
? Do you know that is basically impossibile to discharge 500 Amps at 12 v?? You need to parallel 2 inverters to do so.
The bms must be' a little bit bigger of the size of your inverter.
3kw are 250 Amps and you'll never take 3kw from those batteries continuesly
Can this be used for lithium ion batteries?
yes, it's available for 4.2V as well
How about next video with bigger batteries?
Hi , can I ask you Hou many BMS I need and Hou many A need ... I will buy 12pcs cells 3.2v 320ah , i put 4s3p
Hi, it depends how many A you are planning to push/pull from/to the battery. You could use just 1 BMS if it's satisfies amperage.
061421/1604h PST 🇺🇸. Thanks. 500A BMS! Nice. What is that you going to connect to (load)? The whole house power supply and the balance to the utility grid?
To wake up the non responsive BMS, all you gotta do is, tap the BLACK negative cable to BLUE cable connected to negative post of the battery.
Let’s know your load. Take care and be safe.
I'm still in search of the inverter/charger. Load is going to be RV or boat (haven't find a person who owns RV or boat and wants to install it 😂)
Thanks for the tip how to activate BMS.
500 amps at 12.8V is only 6.4kW. And my rule of thumb with China made BMS is over rate by 100% (even Daly). So you can safely run about 3.2kW through that.
I bought the same one. It cant balance a large pack IT WILL TAKE YEARS. I had to add in an active balancer on top of the BMS.
yeah, it could balance with 30mA, which is nothing. What kind of balancer do you use?
Did you thoroughly top balance all the cells before assembling your pack? The BMS balancer is at best just to maintain balance of fairly closely matched cells.
@@Sylvan_dB I'm going to balance new cells.
Cells in video are small 25Ah and I just used them to make sure that BMS works.
Going to do load testing with new pack
When you added the active balancer to your battery pack, did you leave the original balance wires from the BMS connected to the cell terminals?
Wooow
Will the 2 P negative work with 2 inverter?
just parallel connections for 2nd inverter.
@@SolarEngineering thx sir!
I need one for my 500A 4S battery, how much are they?

Learn something new about discharge enable from BMS -
If I buy 280ah in parallel do I need more than 280a bms?
It depends on how many amps you are planning to draw from the battery. I'd add 30% when sizing BMS. (for example if you are planning to draw 50A then bms will be 50A*30% = 65A)
Do I need to top balance both in series and in parallel, and if so could I do this from one charger?
@@tospicy4ya parallel top balancing should be enough.
How do I get the app for monitoring bms? What is name of app?
Smart BMS
@@SolarEngineering I downloaded the app and installed it, but it's not finding any new bluetooth devices.

The cables are almost as big as my car audio wires. On a bms lol. I've been looking into this bms but haven't clicked the buy button. Thanks for looking at it!
Hi, are you still happy with this BMS? It looks really nice and it can handle large currents according to Spec.
Hi, I'm still waiting for bigger cells to arrive to test it under heavy load.
@@SolarEngineering Nice, I look forward to see that, if you are happy with it under heavy load I think I buy it as an 16S for my battery.
A simpe ceap smart bms from daly + a 500a contactor do the same thing and cost less
Я немого 300а bms запостить , подскажи как правильно стартануть
если все правильно подключено, то просто подать заряд на аккум

Looking forward to follow-up vid. My experience with Daly is two opposites. You already mostly covered the Pros, apart from the obvious Pro's.
My added Con's;
Incompetent Service Support. You cannot talk to a real Engineer at Daly because Rep claims Engineering can't speak English, while Rep don't understand Electricity.
Pre 2021 Versions has horrible PC GUI without English Manual & also has the fundamental flaw to stop Balancing once Charging Current drops below X Value, when the Cells becomes fully charged, and the Balancing should really kick in. What's the point of setting Balance MinOpenV if it is over-ruled by Charge Current ?... So, complete failure for pre-version balancing. What I'm pointing out, is, a faulty Feature is dangerous. Then, rather leave the Feature out the final Product & stop misleading the Buyer. (Your Version shouldn't have this issue.)
Some Daly BMS also has undersized Wiring. The one in your Vid should be good (35x2x8 = 560Amp).
'21 Ver has useless SOC because Software does not keep in mind natural SOC Loss in Cells & Float Top-up Charge. Yet, it takes up most Smartphone Screen space.
I also found the Max & Min & Individual Cell V to be accurately displayed but the complete opposite for Ave Cell V. I mean, how difficult can it be to add the Cell V's & divide by Cell Amount ...
Can you confirm DIY Fan replacement possible ? I mean, just opinion - don't need to disassemble anything on your BMS.
The fan could be replaced, but wires need to be resoldered. It could be hard to do, because wires are really thin.

Not a fan of daly bms nothing they make is smart.i only use them as fail safe and hope they actually work.i have ruined a 200 ah battery because it did not low voltage disconnect I would use a real bms
unfortunate to hear that BMS didn't disconnect the pack from load... What kind of BMS do you use now? I'm still in search of reliable BMS for 16S config.
