I’m too old to wear my hat backwards but from now on I’m going to call all my rods my fly fishing poles. 😁
Ha ha, nice one...but please don't!! And you're never too old to have fun, you should know that. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Well looks who’s here, I enjoy this guy as well. And hey, if you wear your hat backwards I will as well🤣🤣🤣 will get a picture that way👍
I love the opening soundtrack! 😉
I really don't like "nice fish" or "it's a good one." For me they all are "nice" and "good." They all have brought me some joy, awe and gratitude for being part of my life.
You didn't bother me. I guess that I'm pretty chill.
I agree with you. Do whatever blows your skirt up [as long as it's legal]. Like Lance says "it's all just fishing"
That's the point, I'm glad to know all is good! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
When someone refers to an indicator as an "indie"
Oh no, isn't an "indie" an independent film?!? With subtitles! ;-) Thanks for the comment, Jared. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
I thought a fisher was a volcanic crack in the earth lol
My ex has a Tenkara rod that she takes backpacking. My trigger is when someone changes ONE material on an established fly and refers to it as a "Variant". And yes, it is a BOBBER! ;-)
HA HA, that's a good one, Shorty! I hope all is well. Will you be at the Symposium this year? Tim
@@TimCammisa This changing material gets to me...a few years ago, a tyer copied my signature caddis fly and put " I just add some sparkle yarn" and virtually claims the thing for himself. I put out instructions on how to make it and am flattered when someone ties them and does well, however I actually sometimes put some sparkle yarn on it anyways. But the clincher is that when you look up my fly, his picture comes up first on Pinterest. When I investigate his patterns, it is apparent that he "improves" virtually any pattern you can think of.
Oh no, John! Until you find out that someone tied that fly 30 years ago before you!! ;-)
@@TimCammisa I'm blank....I can't think of any funny remark...
@@TimCammisa I will!
Bobbers! I resisted fly fishing for a lot of years because when I was wanting to learn, I ran into a purist. He was so off-putting, I decided if that was what flyfishermen were like, I'd stick with what I knew. 20 years later, I met a "kid" (young man) that was eatten up with flyfishing and couldn't wait to teach me how. I haven't looked back at my "conventional" ways in 3 years, but when I see a bobber or bright colored fuzzy strike indicator it screams "that's not fly fishing" to me.
Glad you embraced fly fishing and all of the fun that comes with it...even if we're talking a red and white "bobber!" ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Hey Tim, your hat looks great👍
This is great Tim to get the discussion going. And for the word? Well for me it is "Sculpin"...I know it is a great fly but just the name gives me the heebies.
I have no idea what the fly is called, here let me show you how it looks. Those are the words I get the most reactions on. As a new person to fly fishing I have an over abundance of flies and just try things till it works.
First of all, Dave, welcome to fly fishing! And with the names of flies ALWAYS changing, I honestly know few people who can realistically know them all. Thanks for taking a moment to comment. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Try the Usual, Dave, by Fran Betters and Bill Phillips...it covers mayflies and caddis and doubles as a submerger....in 12 to 20... you will love it and you can change body colours to suit....
Great video
Thanks so much, Josh...so which of those words do you fight over?!? ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
The Mop Fly 🤣 👍 The "MOP" material is no worse than vinyl D ribs, closed cell foam, thin skins, mylar piping, flashabou or tungsten beads... Just because it comes from a mop doesn't make it taboo! How many of us raided the Christmas tree decorations for scraps of tinsel and shiny stuff? LOL
Hey Randy, thanks for the comments, and I have one thing to say: Can't stop the Mop! ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
More than all those specific things, just that these things get debated as much as they do. I guess we can’t help ourselves, Whether it’s politics, religion or fly fishing there are sides. And it is sad how heated it can get.
Bobber 100% is the correct term.
Junk Flies and Tight Line Nymphing is just for people who like to be catching fish more often.
BOBBER!! Ha ha ha! We're on the same page. Now what if we have an indicator that sinks?!? ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Although there are nasty rumors out there that I've been known to use these, but pegged eggs usually elicit the raised hackle response.
Hey Alex, I don't have experience with that, but have heard about them from friends who have fished in Alaska. So what's your take on them? Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Those people who call a fly rod a pole. Euro nymphing all the way baby.
Pole vs. rod...YIKES! Thanks so much, Joe, and I hope you're well. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
In Western NC, mop and egg are two words that'll divide a room. And never call Highlands "The Highlands."
Ha ha, good to know for when I'm down there!! Tell me more about Highlands, is that specific to NC? Tim www.troutandfeather.com
"Bobber" That'll get nymph guys going! "Junk flies" Nothing like a guy using that term to a San Juan worm angler whilst he uses a flippin' Glo Bug!
Ha ha, I forgot all about the phrase "junk flies!" I actually used it once and the guide that I was talking to took complete offense to it! Touch, huh?? ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
No fighting words from me, there all a tool to catch those wily fish Have a good one
That's what I like to hear, John! In fly fishing, we each are entitled to take our own path, so let's do so and have some fun along the way. Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Yeh I don’t get it , I’m out on the Madison with my Tenkera rod chunking a Sex Dungeon under a bobber , and some dude from Trout and Feathers floats by shaking his head , What ? :-) thanks for the video
Ha ha, now that would be funny!! Was my hat on backwards?!? ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
Euronymphing is not fly fshing, it´s ultra light jigging
Spey it´s some kind of surf casting
Strike indicators are bobbers no matter how fancy you name it
Articulated streamers are time and money wasted flies most of them
DEAL WITH THAT!!!🤣🤣🤣
Ha ha, and the beauty of fly fishing and tying is that we each get to choose our own path. And I'll keep all of my articulated streamers! ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
@@TimCammisa 🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏
A fly pole and bobber,
And Tenkara is not fly fishing 🤣🤣🤣
Ha ha, pole is one that definitely makes me cringe. Now we're getting to a point when we have to define fly fishing? I am unsure if that's good for the sport, especially if we look over the history of early fly fishing...we sure are doing NOTHING like that anymore either. Hope you're well and ready for the fall! Tim www.troutandfeather.com
@@TimCammisa Hey Tim,
Been following you a while now and really enjoy your content! Sometimes we can get all to serious about all this. Like now I am twisting up some worms🤣🤣🤣for me and the wife. Don’t tell anyone she loves them😉. My Philosophy is live and let live as long as we are fishing and being good Stewarts of the land. We are all at different levels and we can learn from everyone. This is how it works. My my can do all the “ wrong “ things and then out fish me. I just don’t get it🤣🤣🤣
Keep the content coming and you and the family stay strong and safe 👍☕️☕️
And thanks for taking the time for a response 😉
I donlt want to hear about Euro nymphing and how many fish it can produce. it's little more than tight .line nymphing and is as old as the hills. Just another marketing idea to people to sell more gear. :-(
Thanks for taking a moment to comment, Terry...and any style that helps to improve my fly fishing is fine by me. ;-) Tim www.troutandfeather.com
I want "the bobber" banned on my local water. I see no difference between it and float fishing.
I hate calling anglers, “fishers”. A fisher is a north woods mustelid. Don’t call me a fisher.
