I have been a victim of GAS attacks many times..I hate them..as you say I've spent so many hours online searching videos for whatever I intend to buy or think I need and have to have..
Just this morning I ordered am amp head I have been looking at for several years and ordered it this morning..we'll see what happens next !

I'm guilty of this. Instead of looking at the next best thing. I could be practicing lol. Yes each guitar has its own feel and tone. And it's fun to buy and try new gear. I agree end of day only thing gonna make you better is practice. But I think after you trade and sell for so long it becomes a hobby.

True. I have finally convinced myself to sell off guitars that I just keep because I like how they look. Lol

Decision to buy a Helix ended my GAS for pedals. It has almost too many options. (Have no idea how people use Axe FX with even more stuff, that's awful as for me)
For just bedroom players interface and few plugins are really enough. Optional midi controller, maybe.
With guitars it is a bit different, because I need to have a few with different bridges and in different tunings. So there is no universal guitar to stop this GAS :D
We just need to remember: there will always be something new and shiny around the corner, but it does not mean we need it or that it brings something really new to the table :)

I used to want an Axe FX but i agree, the option paralysis is too overwhelming in the long run. I have been seriously considering the QC since you can now load neural amp sims onto them.
Same for me with the guitar situation - different bridges and tunings.
Everyone I think, needs to self limit at some point. Get what you need, and then commit to using just those items until you "master" them. 👍

@@digital360 We often think: I will just buy THAT thing and will do THIS with a help of it. Often you don't even need to buy anything, so it's better to at least say to yourself: I will learn/master THIS and then buy THAT thing as a reward to make new challenges for myself :D

Been guilty of buying gear I probably didn't need, but get like each guitar I have is different. I'd like to get a 7 string guitar and a 5 string bass to round out the collection but definitely don't need them in a hurry as so much more to learn with what I have.
I think software is just as much of a trap as physical gear. So many different plugins or software like drum software and always claiming sales or offering discounts.
So called lessons can also be a money pit or have misleading pricing. I've seen courses I've paid "half price" for double in price and still claim to be half price.

@@iduncanw I was thinking about the software sales too. Every time NDSP has a sale I feel compelled to grab yet another amp sim. After Nolly X , I’m done…..for a while.
