My issue with Hopscutter and FLuent add ons is that whenever i add these bevels i tend to get artifacts and so far this video somehow gave me more idea on how to deal with it. Still not sure how other tutorials get that very smooth surfaces and normals even after so many overlapping cuts..especially on a sphere. 7:14 saved my life. Thank you!
@@PonteRyuurui Thank you! Ill buy your tutorial pack :)..i do that too but somethings there is still some artifacts..might as well buy your tutorials :D

This tut is really helpful, it showed me how to isolate bevels for each new boolean operation I do, but I have a problem when importing a mesh from another software, every time I use a bevel applied with HardOps it applies it to certain parts of the mesh and not only to the new boolean (following the techniques shown in this video) when creating a simple box everything works normally but when importing a different mesh the same rules seem not to apply, any suggestions? :D PS: Basically i want to avoid using a bevel on my imported mesh and start using booleans operations directly and applying this technique shown in this video for more boolean operations :D
after import i d recommend cleaning the mesh, it:s most likely a mess, and you dont need to use bevel to be able to use bools, so not sure whats the issue
How the heck does that "non-destructive" bevel work? I could've really used that in my project, but I don't understand how it works. How is it creating the bevels but not creating more vertices??
Thank you so much for this and your whole Hard Ops series. One thing in this though - I can't, for the life of me, get vertices to bevel as you do around 2:30. I made a similar line segment shape, tabbed to Object mode and applied Scale (why do that, btw?), then back to Edit, select those verts, Q, Ctrl-click Mark; the Bevel HUD appears and it said "Bevel Vgroup added" and the Bevel Modifier appears and I see Width changing as I move the mouse and Segments added as I scroll the wheel, but I don't actually see the bevel happening. Even if I click to accept and rotate my view all around...no bevel. 🙁 sucks, because that looks super-cool for cables, pipes, etc.
ah ha! I got it now - I had accidentally added the Plane while in Edit mode on the last Cube, so it was part of that Cube object. I'm still curious on the reasoning behind applying Scale before beveling the vertices. I tried it both with applying Scale and without and both worked, but didn't really notice a difference. I just did it because you had done it. thanks again!
@@PonteRyuurui ah, very nice - yeah, looks like dropping to .5 makes a bit nicer sweep. In regards to applying Scale beforehand, is that just a best practice?
Do I still need to apply SubD after applying Csharp? Or I'll just let the Csharp do the shading for highpoly? I see issues in cylindrical edges where the baked normals are not as circular compraed to baked normals using sudD+Bevel weights or creased model in Zbrush... Is it how it is?
I'm waiting for the next one ^^. If you have some times to make the same with boxcutter, it's always interesting to see if I've missed something and learn
Ponte Ryuurui thanks, but I’ve noticed something, I can’t shift select multiple faces or abutting with machine tools, box cutter, and, hard ops enabled. I think it messed with my keybinds or something. It changed a bunch of other stuff too but that’s the main problem. And I tried using w and alt w to switch the add on on and off but the W shows a menu but alt + w works fine
@@PonteRyuurui yeah. I was using blender 2.9 last night and I was getting that weird error. I read somewhere that 2.9 had issues with hips I uninstalled blender then installed blender 2.91 and hops and box cutter work. I was getting some errors with box cutter as well.Weird stuff.
Coming out from 14:48 I wonder how you created a polygonal object with a box cutter. I know that a new object is created by dragging the box cutter to an empty space without selecting any object. I don't know how to make it like that in Ngon mode. I've been trying in a variety of ways for an hour, but haven't been successful yet :(
It is an ngon tool / cutter, try watching the boxcutter 5 video series, it is shown there. I have them on the same playlist as this video. you need to uncheck "cyclic" option on the top bar while in ngon cutter mode.

Hi Ponte, when i select edges to bevel, it bevels the unselected intersections. Is this intended?
same here, how to show the panel with the shortcut keys of hardops on the side, or it just an overlay image for the video? thank you
do you mean the white panle with key strokes? That is an addon, Screencast keys
