    Warfedale always impress me with such even smooth response and realistic sounding instruments and vocals very musical and so natural sounding, not as flavored as the others as to impress initially but more satisfying for extended listening.

    They are all good speakers.
    LS50M has a dominant mid range, a little colored to my ears.
    Polk R200 sounds like British speakers, warm, and lack of high extension
    Wharfedale 12.2 sounds neutral and musical
    Monitor Audio Bronze 100, V shaped + warm sound, interesting

    waaat :D i thought A is cheapest sound which i would not buy, i thought monitor audio. LS50m really let me down, i had more fun even with Q150 at 30% cost. B and C great tonality and neutral, so I expected Polk and LS50M. Diamonds D recognized immediately, crispy details but agressive treble extension.

  • @34332
    @34332 2 года назад +8

    Well, I wasn't far off. Choosed Monitor primarily for better bass presence. Meta was close, but a (too) forward midrange and less bass. R200 in general good and Wharfedale after.
    I think the Monitor fooled me somewhat because of the bass. I have the combo Audiolab and R200 and bass in this demo seems a bit less powerful or different vs my experience at home.
    I don't get why people arque over this (see comments) or pet their own shoulder what's the best, etc. Sound is subjective and YT demo's only give an impression, but not the whole story. Relax and enjoy guys.

    Very good comparison!!! If I have a living room of 16 M2, which one do you recommend to listen to music? The Monitor Audio Bronze 50 or the 100? I have a Rotel a11 tribute. Greetings from Argentina!

  • @YamilLlanos

    To my ears the LS50M are way more forward on midrange, treble is a little cut off. Honestly a little congested, specially on mid to low frequencies.
    Diamond 12.2 seems to be the brightest ones to me. Perhaps the most analytical of the group. But also a little dry.
    Very nicely balanced the R200 are. Very controlled. These seem like good overall.
    But I am surprised by the Bronze 100. I've never heard Monitor Audio in person, but I really like how they sound here. These would be my first choice easily. These have some nice sparkle on the top end. Nice controlled bass and slightly recessed vocals. To me these sound the closest to listening to a band/orchestra. Just I like my speakers. I may have to start considering this brand after watching and listening this video.
    In summary, for me it would be: Monitor Audio =>> Polk Audio ==>> KEF ==>> Wharfdale

    Thanks so much for this. I've had my eye (and ears) on the Bronze 100s and this gave me a great comparison to some other bookshelf speakers against those. I thought the Monitors sounded the best, BUT I was pleasantly suprised by the Polks as well, followed by the Diamonds. The Metas sounded horrible, IMO. Thanks again, and just subscribed!

    Very interesting. Am staggered by so many opinions on differences between speakers! I have been considering upgrading some old Mordant Short MS 5.10s in a stereo set up but waffle between each different YT bookshelf speaker review. The good news seems to be that to my tin ear maybe just stick with what I’ve got or find a place to listen to each final selection before laying out over $1k CDN. My MS’s still sound decent and my two HomePods, V1s also sound even better for my AppleTV 4K, gen 3 content which more and more has taken over my music listening. Thank you for your detailed comparisons; I will listen again without any distractions for better discernment.

      Welcome to the world of subjective-as-hell speaker comparisons :) For me personally I prefer the MA 100 Bronze but as you can clearly see opinions are all over the place...and it's normal. The ONLY thing which matters is how YOU think a speaker sounds to YOUR ears because you're the one who has to live with them. I always get a kick out of some of the comments because one person will say they hear one thing and the next person will say the opposite.....and neither or wrong or right :)

    Leaned toward Polk and 12.2 again, with the slight extra power of the R200 usually edging slightly. Occasionally, the 200 bass seemed a tad thick compared to the 12.2, however. I just haven't loved the Meta in these tests. The Monitor can really rock, but I don't think I could handle that final balance for very long (maybe with a dark sounding amp or source).

I think my unfamiliarity with the Audiolab with most of these speakers and the level mismatches between them certainly made it much harder. Should have listened again, but it may not have helped much. I'm especialy surprised I didn'tt at least guess the 12.2 right. It doesn't sound at all to me as it does in the other demos. Yes, I think there is a bit with them. I think they seem to lean toward strong bass and lower mid warmth, but lack a bit of center and upper midrange presence though. When comparing them on these demos to amps that have comparitively more, It's hard to know if those are adding extra, or are actualy more accurate,. These demo's can mislead you unless you have a reference you can compare them to from real life listening experience.

      A better solution would be to get the flattest speaker that sounds best to you and bump the hell out of the bass and tone controls when you feel like it. I do that from time to time when I have people over for a gathering, the wow factor is there. And that is why buying an amp with tone controls is so important, or even a separate eq for that matter.

    The Audiolab 6000 shifts the tonality of some of these speakers, relative to say the Cambridge AXA100, in unpredictable ways to me. It definately moves the mids of the Metas even further forward than usual, so I should have realized A) could only be them, but it seems to beef the bass up too. Could be why I thought they were the R200's?? It moves the mids forward on the MA's too, and I heard the titaniam tweeter, and they're clear if nothing else, so figured it was the KEF's. What still puzzles me is the sound of the 12.2's, wich still sound leaner in the mids to me here, with a bigger accentuation to the upper treble than to the R200's in particlar. Any one else hear that, or have I gone deaf??🤣
    The R200's sound really nice with it though.

I don’t know how precisely the volumes are adjusted with the different speakers, but even a decibel increase significantly affects how we hear the speaker's sound. Strange how in this comparison Kef’s bass sounded more powerful than Wharfedale’s.

    Quem prefere um som mais quente, relaxado e com mais presença nas vozes as 12.2 são a melhor opção.
    E quem prefere um som mais neutro e também relaxado e com boa pegada as Polk R200 são a melhor escolha.

    I actually did pretty well. After several listening sessions, I knew that B was the Bronze and that D was the Wharfedale, but I wasn't sure about A and C. My first impression was that A was the Meta and C the Polk, because A had less bass to my ears, and C sounded better to me, but when I listened again, I faltered and became doubtful and unsure which was which. At times, on some songs, A sounded brighter to me than C, which is what confused me, because, with the Cambridge, the Polk always sounded brighter. I'm quite surprised that my ears did as well as they did in identifying them. This was an adventure, to say the least. I have increasing admiration now for MA. I've always loved their speakers. They might just be my favorite British brand of all, because even when they sren't quite as balanced as some others, and maybe because they're so dynamic and punchy, they just are so much fun to listen to and always give me maximum enjoyment. They always make me forget about analyzing the sound and I just forget all that hi-fi stuff and just groove on the music playing. And that's what it's all about. Fun factor is the most important attribute in any piece of gear

    • @zeppzepp1234
      @zeppzepp1234 2 года назад

      Agree with the fun factor of dynamic and punchy thing. That's why B&W selling well when people criticizing their excessive brightness, less than ideal frequency response. Sufficient bass weight can make brightness more endurable, just avoid smaller size speakers with this kind of sound signature.

    • @DougMen1
      @DougMen1 2 года назад

      @@zeppzepp1234 I used to like the B&W original Nautilus series like the original 800N series and the 600 S3 series, with their Kevlar woofers and aluminum tweeters. They had the midrange dip and bright tweeter of current B&W offerings, but they were much less pronounced than now, where they have gone to the extreme. I had the 601S3, and I liked the bright and airy tweeter, but then I discovered the MA Bronze, and their nice, rich, somewhat forward midrange made the B&Ws sound distant and anemic in comparison. I also had the 602S3, which was voiced better than the 601, without that midrange dip, but they were too big and bassy for my small room. It seems that the new Bronze series have kept that rich midrange and voiced their tweeters a bit brighter, so their sound now resides somewhere between the older Bronzes and the excessively bright B&W sound. I also found, at least with the 601S3, that B&Ws like to play loud, and then that midrange dip fills in somewhat, but they sounded distant and recessed in the midrange at lower levels, and my small room and ears can't tolerate those louder levels. I need seakers that sound full and balanced at lower levels

You must be a special kind of something to say that the 12.2 and R200 isnt as neutral as it can get in its price point. If you like a V shaped or bright speaker thats totally fine but dont call me out on things that you do not have data on. How do you think I picked out the Bronze in my initial prediction? That sad ass recessed mids. If you do not hear it, fine. But do not try to call me out on hard data. The R200 and 12.2 is way flatter than the Bronze can ever dream off and if you like that, go get a pair and enjoy.

      @@-MarkWinston- Because there's no reasoning with you and I'm tired of your BS. Look at the measurements of the Bronze 100 from the Soundstage Network, done at the NRC's anechoic chamber, where Paradigm, PSB, and other Canadian companies use the facilities to help them tweak their speakers. I gaurantee that those measurements are more accurate than those from some online RUclipsr. This is pointless, because you only believe what supports your BS assessments, and I'm sick of it. Explain why the Meta here sounds very similar and bright like the Bronze, with almost identical sounding tonal balance, but they don't sound "neutral" like you claim the Polk and 12.2 are, even though the Meta measures ruler flat. So, is the Meta V shaped too? Besides that, you are always saying how the 12.2 has the BBC dip, so guess what? That's a V shape! You're so inconsistent that you can't even agree with yourself.

      You both could be correct at the same time. We actually can't explain too much between the measurement and the sound we hear. The idea of V shape could be the effect of room reflection or maybe the mid range handing over from a large woofer to the tweeter. The end result of the total system from sound source to room to our ears is way more complex than we may think. I don't think the frequency measurement will be much different when speakers connecting to different amps, but it just sounds different. I can't explain it but accept it, have some fun and listen to music.

    They all sound lacking after disconnecting the subwoofer, guess I'm too used to the subwoofer now.
    Monitor audio did sound very lively and full without sub,
    Can't say what sound best but with sub reconnected I think Polk sound improved the most.

    I originally got the Diamond 12.2 and it was a box of distortion and harmonics , awful speaker. I returned the 12.2 and got the EVO 4.1 and what a difference. The EVO 4.1 is light years ahead , the sound is crystal clear , the amount of clarity and details you hear are immense, the base is super deep and tight, much better than Diamond 12.2. And the looks are to die for.

    這種測試比較方法使人疲累,既辛苦又毫不準確,錄音混濁絲毫不覺好聲,根本不能夠作為參考聲音,沒有參考價值。
