    The farlands are a pretty well known piece of Minecraft trivia, but what about the stripelands? I had literally zero idea that bedrock edition even HAD it's own 'farlands', but here we are! I stumbled upon this area of the world by complete accident and had no clue what was going on, so I hit record, and... Well you can see the rest :P
    Enjoy! :D :D
    (P.S I'm not even sure if the 'stripelands' is the right name!! If the community has a more widely accepted name, please tell me!)

    When i was younger, and on i think PlayStation or whenever they added the infinite world, there was ALWAYS a point where you could just tell there was supposed to be a end to the world gen but there wasnt
    Plain biomes were everywhere, large patches of just empty, no grass, little flowers, and groups of animals were all you saw, trees were scarce and villages didnt exist, it was like that for a long amount of traveling but then there was a certain point where the world realized "oh sh-t wait" and everything became just slightly more normal.
    It was always a off feeling but it was still something cool to experience and realize that at the time i was one of few who noticed a small issue where places were more bare then normal!

    Alright lemme put on my 🤓 face on
    You can move only on one axis that far off due to limitations on how Minecraft stores coordinates
    Basically, the coordinate gets rounded to the nearest block corner on that axis because it's not made to store numbers this big (it's a floating point number error basically), and everytime you try moving in that direction, it ends up getting rounded back to the block. This is also what causes the movement jankiness some millions of blocks earlier
    Same thing for block entities (torches, fences, w i d e r e d s t o n e), the game just gives up and renders all points on the same X coordinate
    And the noclip is due to the game's collision system straight up giving up past a certain point

    • @masteroftheinternetverse1296
      @masteroftheinternetverse1296 2 года назад +2

      Antvenom made a video on the whole "falling through the floor" thing. Don't remember why this happens, but for every 2^n where n is the number of blocks out, a little piece of every block's collision is removed. If you go out too far, the removed amount goes beyond the original block and thus, no collision.

      it's a integer limit affecting the rendering and world generation.

    • @accuratejaney8140
      @accuratejaney8140 Год назад +1

      It has nothing to do with the integer limit, but instead has to do with the floating point numbers used to represent coordinates. They get more imprecise the further you get away from 0, 0, and the blocks' collisions also use them and shrink to less than a full block. It gets easier and easier to fall through the world until you just can't stand anywhere because all of your valid coordinates are not in the blocks' collision. Eventually the floating point numbers are so imprecise the blocks can no longer exist on every other block, and you get the Stripelands. The reason this doesn't exist on Java is because its floating point numbers use doubles, which have more precision and aren't imprecise enough to let you fall through the world within the 30 million blocks you're allowed to walk around in.

    So basically what's going on is that you're going so far out, the way the game handles positions and collision becomes imprecise. This happens in Mario 64 as well (just without the collision breaking), so here's a Pannen video about floats.
    ruclips.net/video/9hdFG2GcNuA/видео.html
    The reason you can't move is because the game is rounding your position to a number, and when you move, you need a certain amount of speed to move to the next position. You're so far out that you can't get enough speed to move to the next position, but since you're not far out sideways, the movement is still precise in terms of going left and right.

  • @_Ter1an_

    The reason this type of far lands happen is cuz the way bedrock renders chunks, I'm pretty sure it always keeps chunks loaded and when you load so many chunks it's starts to render them weirdly. At least that's from what I've heard.

    • @llamadrama1090
      @llamadrama1090 2 года назад +1

      it cant render the chunks because of something called "floating point precision", it happens when the coordinates are soo big that you cant store them. the game tries to fix it by rounding the number to a lower number, reducing the precision of the placement of blocks, chunks, models like torchers and eyes of ender in the portal frames, the players movement and collision

    basically the 32 bit int limit is around 2.147 billion or 2^31. and every exponent of 2 you go, the block renders false growing and growing until at 2^23 or around 8.33 million, you fall right through the floor because the offset is one whole block and you are inside a block now, at 16777216 the stripelands appear basically 1/2 blocks fails to render so it’s just “invalid” and its just void in the middle. at 2^25 or 33.55 million you get the 2d lands which is the stripelands but 2d and 3/4 of every block is invalid and it keeps getting worse every increment.

    When traveling to the nether, your x and z coordinates are divided by 8, putting you closer to the world origin. Likewise, traveling to the overworld multiplies it by 8. This works to create the effect of "8 blocks in the overworld is 1 block in the nether" sense any distance traveled in the nether will be multiplied by 8 when you leave, and vice versa.

    jokes aside yeah thats normal, it just kinda happens as you load in ice, especially in laggier areas, like the farlands, or a server that should have died months ago

    With the Ice thing, so you know how you can see that happening if you look at ice through a slime block that someone is holding, well it just kinda does that sometimes in bedrock except you don't have to look through a slime block
