  • The Korg PA-500 is a feature-loaded heavyweight. It has plenty of sounds and beats but it's hard to become enamoured with it.

    OH OH! You did it! You found my keyboard lol! I had the PA 500 ORT! The one with Arabic sounds and rhythms, quarter tone tuner mini keyboard. I have now the PA 600QT which is a direct upgrade to the PA500ORT. This keyboard is nice, though unlike the PA600 series and later, I could not fully edit the onboard sounds for a $1000 keyboard.. Which was very off putting. The sequencer is the SAME one from the Korg Triton though. So if you are familiar with the triton, this keyboard will feel right at home.

      Was hoping it could handle samples, but no real complaints here.

      @@gearfacts Ha! Funny you say that. The keyboard DOES handle samples! But the OS(firmware) is blocking the ability for "corporate copyright protection" purposes.. Look online and you will find sites of hacked firmware for this model and my PA600 model! There were alot of youtube videos from overseas mainly in Arab nations, of my PA600 being hacked so it could load samples, and then guess what? Korg OFFICIALLY released a update to the firmware(2.10)that DOES unlock the sampling feature lol! So yeah.. it samples.. You just not allowed to get to the feature.

      Agree! Very lush piano 🙂

      Also agree, the decay of the blended notes was probably the sweetest I've ever heard. It might have seemed like an awkward pause in the video but I really wanted to hear it fade out :)

    ¡¡¡Uffff!!! Los sonidos "cosmicos" son impresionantes, pero algo me dice que este tipo de teclado no me haría más feliz.

    I wonder if they share sound engines between there arranger series in their workstation series because a lot of these sounds sound like either from the EDS sound engine, which was the M3 and M 50, or the hyper integrated sound engine from the triton series. Like some of the acoustic pianos had an EDS vibe to them, that first one especially sounded pretty close to the M 50 grand preset in my M 50. The drum kits also sounded like the same drum kits from my M 50. However the first roads type sound that was played sounded a lot like the roads from the triton. And the same with those organ sounds. They sounded straight off of the triton.

      It would also be neat if Korg would just put out a keyboard that had both a combination of their workstation and the arranger, put it in an 88 key form factor with the RH3 keyboard, have the recording, sampling, and midi functions of the workstation, yet have The built-in rhythms, patterns, accompaniments, and such from the arranger.

    Hello brother. Please, I hope you respond to me, I need your help. I also have this pa500. I liked your video as the sound quality was so pure and great. How can I record such quality as your recording? And can I record sound from the piano to a phone when I turn the camera on a phone?🙏

    Did you Eq your piano sounds or edit them in any way? I'm asking this, becuase the piano on my Korg Pa 500 sounds pretty rich and realistic when playing low and high, but somewhere in the middle, in the mid range section the notes don't really sound realistic. Can this be fixed?

    • @gearfacts
      @gearfacts  Месяц назад

      I didn't add any effects, no. I haven't noticed the inconsistency you mentioned, but then my ears probably aren't as tuned as a proper piano player. Sounds like a complicated issue to rectify!

    And YEP! I loved my PA500ORT! Now my PA600QT! YEP! I love it long time, I love it big time, I love it... good time. And oh what music I have composed on them!! Sadly I took my videos down from youtube during the big "if you do not label your videos correctly you will get sued $42,000USD scare of 2019,so all my examples of my PA keyboard are kept to myself again, until I can find a safer website to upload my music to.

    I think Midi and arrangers are out of date. I use audio recordings of a real drummer and audio tracks for the backings. Audio is the new Midi. It sounds so much better.

      Yep, we have much better processing power now, and handling large chunks of audio is easy.
